A revelation of sorts!. Irinas Bar & Grill was our answer now that we have moved further south, when I did a search for German type food. The place came up in Yelp, and I was impressed with the loyal and glowing reviews. Since once in a while we go to Oceanside to catch a movie or two, or to the base, I kept this place until we made it out there. The movie was overcrowded around 3:30 PM, probably because it was the day after New Year 2014. So we set course for Irinas. We very much like German food if it is well done, which by the way applies to any other cuisine, the better made the happier we get.
Upon arriving we met Jonas. A very personable bartender he wasted no time in greeting us to find out what we wanted. I had read in Yelp that they do not mention their German food in their regular menu, that you have to look above the bar, and make your selection from about 6 photos showing the available items. We found a table by the large TV, and soon enough Jonas was there ready to take our order. Following items were ordered:
Stuffed Cabbage: very tasty, well done all around, came with a salad and mashed potatoes. This is one dish that we usually do not get in public places, since we make a delicious one ourselves, but it looked good on the picture so Alma order it. Alma is a very demanding eater, likes quality and abhors lesser creations. She polished the dish, and was very pleased with the fare. I tried a little bit and it was very good. 4.5 Stars!
Schnitzel: this one is breaded pork served with an outstanding mushroom sauce, that frankly made the dish for Chris and I. Served with perfectly fried fries, nice serving that was devoured with no problems. 4.5 Stars!
Sausage Sandwich: I saw it in the picture and it looked appetizing. Two of them, served with saurkraut, which I kindly requested be served on the side not knowing what to expect. The sausages, or whatever is called in the German parley were delicious. So good, in fact, that I asked Jonas to sell me a dozen to take home. Nein! Others before us had requested the same thing and no dice, was inquisitive enough were I did find out they buy in San Diego. Great flavor, perfectly cooked, and even though the amount of food had been considerable to that point, they were finished with no problems. 4.5 Stars!
The salad I mentioned above was fresh, and also was terminated, just your conventional salad but nicely picked.
Two Beers: selected by Jonas. After all the place is a bar, and their selection of beers is impressive. We drank the brewskis but refrain from keeping on, for one moment you are drinking with a meal, and once you cross the line you are in party mode, which we wanted to avoid, knowing how much booze was consumed celebrating the arrival of 2014.
Dessert was okey, something to do with cheese cake texture and raspberries, served almost frozen. The 3 of us shared and by the end we were very content. Like many good reviewers had mentioned, it is unusual to find this good of German selection outside of Anaheim by Disneyland.
Service was superb at the hands of the quite capable and affable, Jonas. His constant attention, witty remarks on some subjects we breached, all made for a delightful afternoon. Now we know we are going to return, for the food was so well made no late indigestion was detected. The total bill for this very tasty meal was $57.23. Very fairly priced, an unusual location for a German eatery, but it is obvious they care very much in Irinas Bar & Grill. Well worth stopping by if you happen to be in the area. Wir sind zurück! Or something like that. 4.5 Stars!

Delicious German food and large selection of beers. This visit, we tried the sausage pea soup, meatballs with mushroom cream sauce, and fresh homemade sauerkraut. For dessert we enjoyed the custard with raspberry. Everything was superb. The place has a very friendly, family vibe. Our server, Tanya was not only personable but knowledgeable of types of beer and the various dishes. We highly recommend Irena’s in Oceanside!

Hidden Gem of Oceanside, local favourite to grab a drink and some authentic German food. Don’t be foolish and make plans to stop here. You won’t be disappointed. The jagerschnitzel is amazing.

We stumbled upon Irina's by accident as we were on a search for an evening bite in Oceanside. Many places were closed early due to Covid-19 and we got into Irina's with about 40 minutes to go before closing. At that time only appetizers and sides were available. We ordered wings, chicken tenders, fries and onion rings. Sounds like basic bar food right? Well it was ANYTHING but basic. The fries were steak cut, slightly coated and fried to perfection. The wings were the best my boyfriend ever had and my friends chicken tenders were hand pounded and perfectly breaded. We actually heard the cook pounding them out before frying them. The onion rings were thick cut and perfectly breaded. We took home the fries and tenders and they were good for a snack the next day. Service was great and friendly. We felt very welcome although we were first time visitors and you could tell the other patrons were regulars. Great spot. Highly recommend if you are in Oceanside.

Great slice if Germany in Oceanside! Great German beers on tap and authentic food. Try the Curry Wurst. The Kase Spaetzle was more of an American Mac And Cheese than classic Spaetzle.

EVERY SINGLE ITEM on the German menu is AMAZING.!!!!! Attentive prompt service. Support small family businesses!!! I haven't even tried the solid choices on the regular bar menu yet because I cant stop ordering the German food. It is SOOO GOOOOD!!! you will get it right no matter what you ask for. I wish they were open on weekends for lunch.... Here is the custard raspberry white chocolate dessert. Go find this place. You will go back again and again 😋

Delicious food!! We’re from Germany and live in AZ and were excited to find a restaurant with German food on our vacation. This place did not disappoint! So yummy! The jägerschnitzel was huge and so good, and the sauce on the currywurst was excellent. Not to mention the German beer selection was AWESOME! We’ll definitely be back every time we’re in the area! Go and enjoy!

I wasn't sure what to expect, but was absolutely pleased with the food and service. Don't remember the servers name but she was single handedly running everything. Great service very attentive.
