A 23min drive+snow squall+20 min wait time= worth it! Oakmont Bakery has mastered the art of building a company to this level. Customers will do anything to enjoy their product! Shout out to their staff - wow, every member had a smile. Thank you ⭐⭐Dona⭐⭐ for leading us through the selection of donuts and the cake!
When we were planning our wedding there was NO DOUBT that we would have Oakmont for our cake. They did NOT disappoint. We had the best time cake tasting, because of COVID restrictions we had to do our cake tasting at home which was fine with us! We actually invited our parents over and my man of honor and made an event out of it. We tried about 20 different cakes combinations, the biggest problem, EVERYTHING TASTED SO GOOD!!
We actually did not pick out wedding cake flavor until 2 weeks prior too and we chose white almond cake with a chocolate layer in the middle with raspberry filling and their butter cream frosting, AMAZING!!! Courtney helped us with the cake flavors, because we wanted the marble taste but with the white almond flavor and she suggested us alternating the layers with white almond and chocolate, huge hit!
Our design was also beautiful, we had a mixed metal wedding, and they did a beautiful job!!
I have gotten every cake at Oakmont Bakery and no matter what cake we order they are consistent in quality and flavor. My children are never disappointed when they see their cakes! Thanks Oakmont Bakery for delicious memories.
I've been to Greece, Italy, and Poland. Honestly, the best desserts I've ever had were in Poland up till now. I was surprised by that too. But now I have to hand that crown over to Oakmont Bakery. Their selection is gigantic. The desserts are sweet but not overly sweet. They are perfection! We ended up not being able to choose so we got about a dozen things. They were all fantastic. Oh and don't forget the fresh Italian bread! 😉
Now I'm hungry for a parfait.
My husband's boss told us this was a must visit and he did not lead us wrong. We are from Chicago and have some excellent bakeries. This place is huge! We literally were like kids in a candy shop! I had a blueberry muffin which was phenomenal! We tried a vanilla cupcake which was light and just melted in your mouth. I brought home rye bread and banana nut bread. I expect it to be very good! I place to go to!
Being from Canada this was in my top places to go and boy was it ever not a let down! We got breakfast (LOVED the healthy options available!) and coffee and also left with cookies. The biggest thank you to Erin- such an absolute sweetheart who made it so fun!! She was super nice and helpful and made the experience here that much better! (Imagine slim shady just came out from behind?) 🤣 I will so be back!!!! Karina
This is one of the most iconic bakeries in Pittsburgh for a good reason! The place is huge, there is lots of variety, and all the food is high quality. It's been a while since I went to the Oakmont Bakery, so I was definitely due for a visit. Today, I tried out the razzleberry bread, Everything bread, brownie, jelly filled donut, and custard eclair.
The brownie was a little small, but absolutely delicious. Super fudgey, sweet, creamy, and just perfect. Soo much better than the stuff at the grocery store. The custard eclair had a great chocolate top, which was nice and gooey. The custard cream was very tasty but the eclair "dough" was only alright. The jelly donut was quite large and filled pretty well, had a nice dough texture, but it didn't stand out to me.
The Everything bread is amazing. It is huge and a great value. Packed with cheese, broccoli, tomato, pepper, and other veggies. Plus the bread is super soft. The Razzleberry bread is sweet and has a very soft texture. The top has a little bit of crunch and additional sweetness, too. Inside, you can find a ton of berries.
The wait is not that bad either. Plus, if you are concerned about parking, just park at the Walgreens and walk a few minutes. I have also tried the cannoli torte, chocolate covered strawberries, and a few cupcakes. Highly recommend the cannoli torte, since it is perfectly sweet, creamy, and unique! Perfect birthday cake. Strawberries are a good size and a great balance of creamy, crispy, and fruity.
Edit: Has my second visit yesterday. My new favorite sweet treat is the cherry fritter. It is massive and packed full of tasty n plump cherries without the "medicine flavor". The dough is also soft and croissant-like. Oakmonter is high quality too; dolce is a great size for 1-2 people. The cheesecake is rich and creamy, fudge is thick and perfect. Didn't like the frosting much, nor the chocolate cake, as they seemed to lack flavor. The chocolate buttercream in the long John wasn't my favorite, but the size was great, fudge top was perfect, and dough was excellent.
Overall, you definitely have to check this place out if you are in Pittsburgh. The food, specifically desserts, are out of this world and the prices+portions are fair.
