Was super Excited to try this place, finally made it there tonight. Had the 2 burgers and 2 brews for $20 Wednesday special. The service was good, it was a great modern atmosphere, everything from the counters to the floors to the chairs looked and felt newer. Full bar and beers on tap, we had the RPM, which is our fave. We both had the bacon burger with garlic fries and goop (fry sauce) everything was spot on. Huge tv in the bar plus 2 medium ones on each side, live music tonight, although we didnt stay to hear it. Cool painting hanging in the bar area. Other patrons were polite and not all drunk and roudy like you get at the pub. Will definitly be back to try some more grub and check out game day. Am very pleased to have a good restraunt in Oakland, that has alot of food options but also not high prices. I think the prices were fair and the food was seriously worth it. That tattooed up guy serving us seemed chill and nice but not hovering or rude, so very good experience all around. Food came fast.
We just went back and had the fish tacos, fish sandwhich and stuffed peppers and they were bomb!

Absolutely lovely! Our server Deb was very attentive and checked in frequently. The food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy and my friend ordered the Hummus Plate. The restaurant had a friendly atmosphere and has recently been remodeled. We will definitely visit again if we find ourselves nearby!

Back again, absolutely astounding food! The owners, Jami and Ron Gettemy did this right. The kitchen was remodeled with two bathrooms added. The menu is eclectic and tasty. The poppers, yes, the poppers are superb with a toss of pork rinds on top for a nice crunch. Request the bacon jam -- a homemade concoction that serves as a side. Fish tacos (cod or ahi) not to be missed. The white cheddar burger and side of sweet potato fries was excellent with crisp bacon.
The photos scream yummist on all we ordered. The front is a small restaurant-- the back a hidden bar. I suggest you walk the town and view the buildings architectural features and be sure to turn the corners.

same as the one down the road. If you are not in with the girls who are there every day, they will tell you that you are not welcome and say you are 86ed. We didn't experience the staff stealing at this location, but we were ran out of there and threatened to not come back. They say "they run the bar" well I hope the owner doesn't continue to allow this. They did a nice job remodeling and we would really enjoy coming back. Just not with that crowd.

I am so very disappointed to be writing this review. I was so excited to try this place. I have been following FB pages supporting local business and decided to try the Lamplighter. Oakland is such a cool place and I had high hopes of a quality restaurant being there. We spent the day in Oakland and read on the sidewalk board that they were having prime rib starting at 4:30 p.m. When we finally arrived to eat it was 5:10 p.m. My first impression was meh, because the front dinning room looks like an after thought. The back of the restaurant is the "bar area" and seems to be clean and new. Very nice remodel. High top tables were attractive but difficult to eat your food from. I will get back to the atmosphere later. The waitress seemed to be distracted and very inattentive. The whole staff seemed not to be very professional at all. I like friendly but they didn't seem to have their act together. When we ordered at 5:20, we were told that the prime rib wasn't being served until 5:30 and she couldn't turn my order in until then. I pointed to the sign that clearly said 4:30, and she gave some excuse. We agreed to wait. 25 minutes later, we were served our salads which were heaping over in soup bowls, making it very difficult to eat without spilling lettuce everywhere. Side note: the only thing good about the experience was the blue cheese dressing. We sat there without refills while waiting for our food. Our iced teas were finally refilled from a pitcher of hot tea, making our tea hot and melting any ice that was left. We were brought extra ice in glasses, so we could fix the problem ourselves. About 50 minutes into the experience, we see our food come up in the serving window. We watch a lot of discussion between our waitress and the kitchen staff about our food. We watched our plates picked up and sat down several times by our waitress and someone from the kitchen as they discussed whatever they were arguing over. Finally, the food arrived! The vegetable served was carrots but the special was broccolini. My husband didn't get his fries and my food was luke warm at best. To find out, it sat in the window because she didn't know where it went because someone lost the ticket. Mind you there were three people on tables, a bartender, and several kitchen staff. There maybe were 3 tables waiting for food at that time. Shouldn't have been too hard to figure it out! Neither my husband's steak or my prime rib was cooked to order. I like mine medium rare at best and he likes his well done. They were switched!! Of course, we were not asked if everything was okay. We weren't even given steak knifes. I had to track down our waitress so I could actually eat my dinner. The prime rib was way too overcooked for me, and really bland. It is currently sitting in my refrigerator soon to become a very expensive breakfast for my pup. We were asked if we wanted them to remake it! At this point we just wanted to leave. The experience was pretty stressful and we weren't wanting to prolong the circus show. My husband's fries came after he was done eating. They were slide to him, and our waitress just walked off. No offer of any condiment whatsoever. After we were done and ready to go, the bartender came over to refill out empty glass of tea, (the glasses were small and only got refilled once). She told us she had the good tea!! I didn't say it but I thought "what tea did we get the first time if you are offering the good tea now"? They took 5 dollars off of our meal without us asking. We left a 5 dollar tip.(we are usually very good tippers) The atmosphere was a cross between a wanna be sports bar, and a because of the remodeling and the menu, a somewhat classy restaurant. The music didn't fit the scene and was annoying. Bottom line they could not execute and the staff is in dire need of training. This is so unfortunate! They could have a gem! We won't be returning.

Love the new remodel. More bartenders and actual cooks in the kitchen made this experience more enjoyable. Dont like the "transgengered" bathrooms now both have cleanliness issues. We will definitely be back in with the new menu and options!

The elk burger was overcooked and very hard. They replaced the meal with fish tacos which I didn't order. Their attitude seemed very poor as well. Zero stars.

Been here multiple times, as we live in Oakland. We've tried the bacon burger, fish sandwhich, fish tacos, artichoke dip, stuffed jalapenos, chicken strips and they have an amazing fresh squeezed margarita. Staff is always kind, food is always hot and dont forget to order a side of goop for your fries (its a West Coast Valley version of fry sauce, which is a West Coast version of a dip that you'll love and just dont know it yet. ) they have multiple tvs and always play the big games, full bar, and really good top shelf whiskey. Stop in, you'll love the chill, updated vibe and great food. They also do live music which when we went on a Tuesday was great! The servers and cooks dont wear masks anymore so if your an immunocompromised person you may want to know that.
