Review Hot Pot House - Oakland

Hot pot house has great hot pot. A unique feature of the restaurant is the "Mr Stick" items you can order with your soup: these are grilled items like corn that you can then use in your soup. They're prepared very well and complement the soup. Like most hot pot places there's a spicy and regular broth and they understand vegetarian diets and can accommodate this if you ask. Their vegetables are great and their broth is so good. Their tofu has great texture and flavor. It can be a little tricky to use the table top burners so ask them for help if it's your first time or you will likely create a bit of a mess as the soup can boil over. Hot pot house is nearby a bunch of great spots to get a drink before or after and it's reasonably close to Bart.

Delicious food. Homely atmosphere, if that's even a word. We ordered the half and half, also known as red and white. Lip numbing spices. Yes your lips go numb. Tasty sliced lamb, decadent beef, almighty Napa cabbage, interesting dipping sauce and the fried tofu was perfect. Thank you Hot Pot House šŸ”„šŸ”„

This was my first hot pot experience and I will definitely be back. I had a very tasty szechuan stile broth with beef and mixed mushrooms. 9/10 would eat again. I also tried some spring rolls which were quite unique, almost sweet, and very very good.

The dish was beef and noodles. It had no flavor and was very greasy. Prices were cheap but we were not impressed. I really thought it would be better.

The lamb hot pot is delicious. Add some bean curd strips and shrimp balls.

Anything other than hotpot is sad and pathetic. Fried rice is bland, tasteless and flavorless. Hair found in two separate dishes. Never again.
