Grinders Submarine Sandwiches - Oakland - Photo album

Really below-average sandwich. Low quality ingredients, minimal toppings, mushy bread.
Great simple sandwich shop. And the proprietor is passionate about his sandwiches! He says he imports his turkey from South Carolina and has a special recipe for mayo. Default is served on a hotdog bun, not sure if you can choose anything else- next time I will ask. Cute neighborhood too.
Grinders is a great place to grab highly customized sandwiches & salads with great ingredients and a nice selection of breads and toppings. You can have it your way here for sure
The reason why this is such a good sandwich shop is that all you need to do is ask for what you want. Simple. It's even easier because the owner will go through a bunch of sandwich ingredients and ask if you want them. Yes , no easy peasy.
Had a bummer of a time here yesterday afternoon. The owner greeted me with "it's been a long day." I ordered a 9" turkey sandwich with avocado, and he charged me $15.29. (Menu pricing is hard to decipher, but as far as I could tell, no 12" sandwich w avocado was over $12, so this didn't make sense.)
Last time I come to this place. This sandwich pic speaks for itself.
Great sandwiches. They have the sandwiches you’ve ordered in the past on file. So you just tell them what sandwich you want without going into detail and they make just like you had it before. Peter the owner is a real character. He’s great.
Got the chicken sandwich and two roast beef sandwiches. The buns are nice and soft but the roast beef tasted off. Also, the cashier was really weird and unhelpful when giving details about the type of meats they served—what information I finally pulled out of him was wrong, as were my sandwich order
