Absolutely in love with this place! I've been here twice this month; Once with my family where we ordered a variety of items and I was amazed by how delicious every single plate was, I just had to come back! I recommend the Enchiladas, Menudo, and especially the quesadilla de maíz, they're amazing quality and a great choice for picky eaters as well.
The owner is incredibly nice and has been the reason my family has come here for years. This month was the first time I came here since i was really young, and I can truly see myself sticking to this spot for a taste of home. Definitely worth a try!

Wow, this place is STILL here 45 years later when I first came here. Surviving 45 years means something. I do like it better when the street was called East 14th Street though! House made tortillas and all your normal Mexican food stuffs are here.

5 stars simply for the tortillas, very authentic and fresh, made from scratch! Huge size too!
Other vegan/vegetarian options are limited to whole beans and guacamole.

Always incredible food at La Mexicana, just like mom's cooking. Best home made tortillas around. Albondiga soup is my favorite. Chips are substantial and green chili sauce has a bite, but is addicting.

Awesome authentic mex. I have gone to La Mexicana for 34 years - since I first moved to Oakland. I have lived across the Bay in Marin the last 30 years and will always drive the distance to get a chile relleno there. No one comes close to the authentic food they serve. In all that time, the quality has never wavered. Sombreros off to La Mexicana!
