My long search for authentic Taiwanese cuisine in the Bay Area is finally satisfied. Can’t believe I had never run across this place (actually I can, they used to only be open M-F during the afternoons catering to the downtown Oakland workforce; even now they aren’t open weekends).

I've stopped over at the Taipei airport over 7 times over the course of my life. But, I have never stepped inside the country! Most of my edible experiences has been at that airport or Taiwan Restaurant (SF) on Clement St.

Their popcorn chicken is absolutely delicious 😋. The box of chicken comes out piping hot (as in you can see the steam coming out). There were quite a lot of chicken in the box itself and it was very crunchy. I really liked how they had spices out for you to add more flavor to your liking.

The minced pork rice is pretty good. Minced pork noodles taste good but it uses ingredients that aren’t really common for that dish. The shrimp/pork wonton is ok but also not authentic. Popcorn chicken is decent. Scallion pancake is kinda dry compared to the ones I’d get in Taiwan.
