Review Rumbo Al Sur - Oakland

One of my favorite local spots - food is always consistently delicious, cocktails are creative and amazing. Can't find a cocktail you like? Just a ask the bartender and they'll create something to please your palette. Service is always local-friendly and unpretentious.

Came here for dinner and my first impression is that this would be a great place to go after work or with a group of people. The restaurant is set up with large tables and different rooms. The atmosphere is loud and friendly. It was a nice evening and the large windows were wide open to the street, giving a nice semi-outdoor feel. There's also a patio to eat outside should the mood strike. Most of the menu is tapas-style. The food is a bit on the expensive side, so plan to spend around $25 per person not including drinks if you do tapas all around. The two of us had chicharron chicken, chicken enchiladas, and the butter lettuce salad. The chicharron was grilled perfectly with the delicious sauce--very tasty. We should have ordered a fourth dish because I was still a bit hungry when we left. The staff gave us very friendly and attentive service with a smile.

I always liked this place but won't be stopping by anymore.... The food is very good, the staff is friendly, service is great. But last Wednesday I invited a client out for drinks during happy hours and despite the fact that we consumed a lot we were "kick out" because the table was reserved. I am sorry but if I am still planning to order more this really makes no sense?! Find another table for your guests... I won't be returning or recommending Rumbo al Sur to anyone. Adios bellos!

It's worth stopping in for the house-made chips and guacamole. The bar is nice and usually pretty lively. All the other items on the menu that I've tried have been really good, but honestly the chips and guac. are exceptonal. A fun neighborhood restaurant.

Fun atmosphere and a different twist (with a good tang) on Latin food. Great addition to the Park Street restaurant scene.

Awesome drinks but very yuppie buppie. Upscale latin mexican food. Big open windows. Nice

Great atmosphere and drinks! Food is good, but drinks take the center stage!
