I love this restaurant! I have Celiac Disease and get serious reactions when I ingest gluten. Their friendly wait-staff is extremely knowledgeable about ingredients & eagerly find answers when they don't know. I have been glutened at much larger restaurants that proudly advertise their Gluten Free Menus. Island Cafe doesn't have a gluten-free menu..... just employees who listen & care. I have never had a reaction from eating there. My husband has been through most of their "regular" food & also gives them 5 stars! Their Pot roast, hamburgers, soups and omlets are the best in Oak Harbor ~ with, or without gluten!
My boyfriend and I just came home (Vancouver, BC) from camping in Fort Ebey State Park for the past 5 nights. We went to Island Cafe for breakfast on Tuesday and we knew that this had become OUR place for all of our future “meals out” when camping on Whidbey Island. We actually had our last brunch there today before driving home. The service was phenomenal, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere is super comforting and friendly. So glad we discovered this place and would highly recommend.
Really nice restaurant, family friendly. If you re calorie splurging get the milkshakes and French fries, you won't be sorry. A fairly good variety of menu items - a couple more vegetarian options wouldn't hurt! But overall the staff was wonderful and so was the food
I LOVE this place!!!! I have never been disappointed!!!! Every meal, breakfast lunch or dinner is delicious!!!! The cooks are the best!!!!! I just wish I lived closer I’d eat here more!!!!!

The best place in Oak Harbor for brunch. Friendly servers, great food for the price.
Food came out unbelievably fast. Friendly staff. Clean and compact without being loud or claustrophobic.
Came in to get a bite to eat. Was a good meal. Staff very attentive and nice.
Best food in town. Better than Apple Bees. Best service as well. They have the best prime rib dinners than anywhere I have been including at golden corral.
It's a small but really wonderful place to have dinner or breakfast or lunch. service was wonderful polite and friendly. The food was hot and very tasty would definitely go back and try other items.
One of my favorite places to eat, fast service and great staff!
One of my favorite places to eat breakfast. The staff are very kind, polite and attentive! Keep up the good work !
5 stars in all category. The food was delicious and the coffee was fresh. The portions were decent and in fact the kids menu pancake was huge! Loved the huevos Rancheros and the raspberry french toast was sublime! The order arrived on time and the server was very attentive. The place was airy with comfy laid back vibes. I'm really glad I tried this place when visiting Deception pass state park and would recommend it very highly!
The staff were super friendly and the food was amazing
And they stayed open in a storm
This restaurant has a very large menu with many different styles of food, which always makes me hesitant. But after trying a lot of their food I can say there really isn't anything done poorly. Tip that with rotating daily specials, the turkey dinner is my favorite, combined with great prices and you have a winner. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating the only drawback is the small parking lot which is frequently packed, bit don't let that discourage you. The food and friendly staff are worth the wait. Clean restaurant and the food is always hot and quick, try it out.
Had to make the ferry. No time for coffee. Galley was closed😱.
Island Cafe in Oak Harbor saved my morning. Great coffee, delicious breakfast, and Brittney was an attentive pleasant waitress. Would come again.
We stopped in for an early dinner after a high school baseball game in Coupeville. Loved the prime rib! Cooked perfectly rare for me, and my friend had a well done top sirloin and it also was cooked to perfection! My husband really liked the fish & chips, too! Gave it 4 stars only because we thought it was a bit pricey.
I had the ham and cheese scramble with sourdough bread. Hubby might have had the chorizo and eggs. I'm not sure. All I know is that his eggs were orange. Anything orange is too spicy for me. He didn't even break a sweat. So annoying!
Amazing experience!
Friendly staff and incredible food. Nice quick spot to stop in, we were in and out in 20 minutes and that was without rushing! Left very full and can’t wait to go back!
Side note: they had the best nachos I’ve ever had!
The fish is absolutely delicious and the broccoli is fresh not frozen! The service was wonderful our girl was very pleasant and fun to talk with. My grandchildren have been raised on the island and it's their opinion that Island Cafe is the best restaurant on the island. I was visiting from Montana and I have to agree with them!
Stopped here for breakfast and could not stop coming in for breakfast every day after. Though may seem a little pricey for a cafe, portion sizes are generous, wide range of meals for anytime of day. All day breakfast. Coffee refills and quick and friendly service. Will definitely stop here every time we visit Oak Harbor and would definitely recommend.
We were in town for a wedding. Three of us had fish and chips. We've had a lot of fish and chips. We all agreed yours is the best! Seafood Alfredo was a hit. Chicken Alfredo was also a favorite. 97 year old Mother in law had cup of chowder, and half sandwich. She said chowder actually had clams, and was delicious! Our waiter did a great job! Thank you
My husband and I had the best experience at Island Cafe. .Our breakfast was delicious in fact my husband said it was the best Chicken Fried Steak he’s ever had. Our service was the best we were asked repeatedly if we wanted more water , coffee etc . Our waiter was so friendly and even as busy as he was , had a very nice conversation with us both . It was the best way to start off our day. We highly recommend going to Island Cafe .
The brunch we had today was so yummy! We enjoyed our meals and especially the Fidalgo coffee. The service was also great! We enjoyed our visit today!
Gets really busy after 1pm on the weekends. The BLT and potatoe salad is delicious! Beer battered halibut is the way to go, if you're craving fresh fish! You won't want to go anywhere else for it. The french dip is tender and juicy. Be careful of the garlic fries! You will definitely keep the vampires away with those! You've been warned!
Great place for breakfast or brunch! Always happy to go hear and enjoy the food. Great service and atmosphere. If you're looking for a nice diner with a small, local feel, this is the place
I come up to Oak Harbor several times a year. And this was the first time I hit the Island Cafe. (And won't be the last!) Their hamburgers are top notch, soda drinks come with free refills, and the senior fish and chips (which my parents ordered) were tasty. And the service was excellent, to boot.
