Found this absolute gem on a road trip to Oregon and we were not disappointed! Only seating was at the bar and the locals all scooted to make room for us. Hubs ordered biscuits and gravy and I got the “short stack” pancakes which was anything but small. The biscuits were perfectly flaky and gravy delicious. The pancakes were some of the best I’ve had! But our favorite part was chatting with the owner who made time on a busy morning to introduce himself to the unfamiliar faces at the bar and hear his story. If I could give more stars I would and will hopefully be back someday!

Best breakfast I've had in a really long time. Absolutely delicious. Wait staff is super fast and friendly and menu is extensive.
I had a Benedict dish and the eggs were poached to perfection, the English muffin was some kind of magical grilled wonder, and the sauce was true Hollandaise sauce.
I wish I could have tried every item on the menu.
We will be back every chance we can get.

Great place for breakfast! My wife and I have eaten here a few times and enjoyed the excellent food and service. Interior seating is a little small, but they have a lot of outside seating - good for warm, sunny days! The service is superb; besides the usual attentiveness, the last time we were there we sat outside and our waiter noticed that the sun was directly on us and offered to bring out an umbrella to shade us - very thoughtful! As far as food, I usually go for the pancakes and my wife goes for an omlette, which she ranks as tops in Marin.

I love pulling into a town I have never been to before like Novato and finding real, old school, diners like Marvin's.
The service was superb, the staff were all friendly and helpful, the food was perfect, we had a truly great breakfast there.

We had a 7 hour drive ahead and after gassing up, noticed a quiet, tree lined street with colorful umbrellas on outside patios. This was the breakfast place. Country music blasting inside, and quickly seated dishes of eggs , pancakes etc line danced by on their way to the patio. The smell was fantastic. Big selection of benedicts, omlettes, French toast and lunch items. We had their veggie benedict, and a cinnamon walnut french toast combo. Portions are big , so sharing is important. Delicious and homemade taste. Stiff black coffee to keep you focused over the bay bridge. Great place. Fast and friendly service. 4 pages of choices.

The employees were very kind and very polite. They were about to close but they still had us sit down and eat.and when there wasnt no where to sit they. Learned off a nice space for us and got us a nice cozy personal spot to eat. I dont think I have visited such a nice,cozy, personal, comfortable place to eat like like this in a long time. We dont have one complaint. We highly recomend Marvin's! Come one come all spread the word aroun.They close at 2pm ,have outdoor dining, and is a must go place to pu on anyone's list!!! Xoxo

BEST STEAK IN NOVATO!!!! It takes a little while to get the food, but it is beyond worth it. This little roadside restaurant in Novato (of all places), without a doubt, has one of the top-3 best steaks I have ever tasted in my entire life!!!

Marvin's offers you typical breakfast diner food with a bit of flair and spice and menu descriptions that do some heavy lifting. My definition of piles of ingredients may differ from theirs, and that is a-okay. Because what made Marvin's such a great experience was sitting outside and watching regulars, young and old, stopping by and being served their usual, striking up a conversation, and then enjoying their breakfast or lunch. Being on a road trip, this was a great experience to see, and although we were clearly outsiders, the staff extended their hospitality to us, on par with their regulars.

Food was really good and definitely gives you a nice size portion. The service was good, only thing is the substitution of toast and fresh fruit we were charged full price for the fruit. If that was the case they should have put the toast on there. Atmosphere is ok just seating is a little cramped. You also have to go through the kitchen to get to the bathroom.

Passing through on a week long business trip I found this unique breakfast spot. Lucky to find a table and served by a wonderful waitress that mentioned she's been there over 20 years. Great food (try the Hash) and great atmosphere. You won't leave hungry.

Great place for breakfast! Small restaurant, but definitely worth the wait. Lots of great Benedict options. Staff was friendly and very attentive to keep our coffee and water cups filled.

Food as good as it was from the last time we visited several years ago. Service was friendly and fast. Portions were generous yet price was reasonable. Definitely one of the gems you would find when out in Novato.
