Their bar was completely closed because they forgot to renew their liquor license. They had an online coupon for $10 when you spend $100. No limitations were listed. But they wouldn't honor the coupon at lunch. No Coke products, only Pepsi. Japanese steak houses have as their main attraction the performance and personality of the chef (they cook in front of you). Our chef didn't say a word to us and had no presentation save breaking the egg by tossing it and having it fall on the sharp end of his spatula. My wife had her steak well done, and I had mine medium rare. The chef cooked mine longer than hers. Y steak was overdone, hers under cooked. The steak (filet) was tasty, but lacking in taste... almost to the point of insipidness. We will never return

I have been to this restaurant many times over the last few years with my girlfriend and to be honest, the quality of the food and service was lacking, but wait keep reading. The restaurant is now under new management and WOW what a change. The food is just amazing.....I mean AMAZING ! The new Sushi/Executive Chef (Suk Moon) makes fantastic creations that are not only truly mouth watering but just absolutely, beautifully finished plates. In the last couple of months I have been here four times and It just keeps getting better. Even the wait staff has improved substantially, so attentive. A great place for a relaxing evening. Have a glass of wine and enjoy a masterful meal. Thank you, see you soon.

Ordered delivery and had to cancel order 2 hours later because it never showed up. I called twice over an hour after I placed the order and kept getting told the driver was "on his way". Last time I dined here in-person the service was also very poor and the food lukewarm but it was a while ago and I was hoping maybe things had changed. I used to love going here over the years and I don't know why it's gone downhill. Maybe a change in management is needed.

The only thing worse than food that is outrageously late is food that never comes at all. Every once in a while, there is a dining or delivery experience that is so horrendous and unacceptable that it warrants a scathing review, if not just to express outrage, to at least perform a public service and warn other potential patrons. We have never dined at New Kegon before, but in the spirit of trying something new, we ignored the already mediocre Yelp rating and decided to give them a shot. We placed an order through Doordash and the delivery timeframe was already estimated the be on the higher end, over an hour until our food would arrive. Our dasher texted me when he arrived at the restaurant that the food was not ready and that they were not responsive to him as to when it would be ready. The restaurant then called me directly 5 minutes before the food was originally scheduled to arrive at our door and asked if we wanted to cancel. They promised that the food was going to be ready in 5 minutes so we told them we would wait, thinking our delivery would be 30 minutes late, which while frustrating, was not the end of the world. Almost an hour later, I was pacing the hallways and my husband was lurking by the window watching for the driver, and I receive a call from the restaurant asking if we still wanted the food. Seriously?!?!?!? At this point, it was 9pm and they still had not prepared our order! Had we gotten honest information, we would've been able to find other options for dinner. Instead, we spent over 2 hours on the only evening each week we have dinner without the kids sitting around anxiously awaiting the arrival of food that never came. Instead of our weekly sushi dinner, we ended up eating cold pizza and spent the precious few child-free hours fuming and waiting for food that was never going to come. The restaurant had no good explanation for what happened and I find it absolutely shocking that this level of incompetence could exist. We of course cancelled our order at this time and felt terrible for the driver who had sat there waiting to pick up and deliver the food. Based on a quick perusal of other reviews, it seems we are not the only ones who have had terrible experiences with this restaurant. There are several other sushi restaurants in the area that have much better service and great food so next time we'll stick with those.

TLDR: Phone call to restaurant ended with apparent owner saying to me "I do not want your $1000, do not come here again. Good bye" and hung up on me. Manager was equally unhelpful. If you are reading this: Go to Ron of Japan nearby instead. Ordered through uber eats and the main part of my dinner order did not arrive. Disappointing, but it happens. Especially when using middlemen. The real issue is how the manager and owner responded. I never once raised my voice or swore. I've worked in customer service or sales my whole life and never received treatment like this from anyone. There was no apology - only finger pointing. They told me I should call them directly in future for online orders and that maybe it was the "white delivery guy" who messed it up. This made no sense as they had just told me part of the order did not appear in their system. When I asked if they could just deliver the golden shrimp so that I wouldn't have to request a refund from uber, they told me no the kitchen closes at 9:40pm (I called at 9:41pm.) That seems like a highly convenient closing time. Why would they lie? No solution was offered - no ownership was taken - no customer service or empathy was delivered. Even if they couldn't deliver something today, I would have accepted a delivery tomorrow to make up for this issue (what I paid for.) They told me they'd have to charge me a higher delivery fee for this. Ridiculous. Take your business elsewhere, I will be.

This place has an awesome vibe and cool authenticity to it! Love the food here (only place with Golden Shrimp I could find!) The hibachi was a nice show. The place got busy around dinner time so I expected to wait a while, but we got served pretty fast for it being busy!

Hey folks...haven't written a review is some time but needed to write one up on Kegon. It's been a few years since we visited the restaurant last, and I remember 10-15 years ago this place was jammed up with a line out the door. Times have sure changed for worst and I understand why. We stopped in there this past Friday evening we noticed only two other occupied tables in the whole restaurant on a Friday night. My kids ordered fried rice that was pretty good, I had the lobster roll that I enjoyed however my wife ordered the Sashimi platter that came out slimy and just way off. The white tuna was fine but the others weren't what so ever. She had one piece of the red tuna and spit it out into a napkin. We called over the waiter to complain that the sushi wasn't fresh and that we didn't want it. He told us that all sales are final and he can't take food back once it's been handed over from the kitchen. I was just amazed that was his answer, never has this happened to us the past. We paid our bill in full, and ended up leaving the whole platter of the sashimi (only eating 2 out of about 20 pieces) on the table. I left my name and phone number on the table in case a manger / owner wanted to contact me to discuss our dining experience...no one has called me yet. My theory is that this place doesn't have that many visitors so the Sushi isn't turned over as frequently as before causing for it to be displayed a few days or weeks past its time. Our bill was $150 so the next day leaving me with a feeling of getting ripped off...oh well, we will never go back. I really hate writing up a negative review but it was well deserved in this case
