Hidden gem for sure! English fish & chips with the BEST tartar sauce I’ve ever had. It’s very light, creamy and savory with a nice amount of dill. (No tangy pickle relish jarred tartar sauce here!) The staff was super nice and the food came out quick and piping hot. I will say I’m a fry (chip) snob so these were not my favorite but I think mostly because of personal preference - I prefer thinner, very crispy fries. The fish was battered perfectly and super crunchy on the outside tender fish on the inside. I’m not very adventurous so no mashed peas for me 😝

This place is fantastic!!! The service was top notch! And the food was even better! When they say proper fish and chips they aren't lying! Perfectly cooked and huge portions! I would 100% recommend this place and go back if I am ever in the area. We ordered the World Famous Fish and Chips and the fish sandwich.

The Codfather Proper fish and chips is the best fish and chips joint in North Charleston. I ordered the world famous fish and chips that consists of a 8to 10oz cod fillet with home cut fries with 4 kinds of chips sauce: mushy peas, tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, Curry sauce, plus Hot sauce,and malt vinegar. $14.25 for the large fillet but lots of other choices for less hungry folks in the dining party. A full bar option with seating for eating as well. Alyssa offered wonderful service and was very knowledgeable of the options. I highly recommend this restaurant when visiting Charleston as it's a short trip up meeting st. Very nice decor and ambiance.

It's embarrassing, really, how long it took me to make it here to eat. Finally stopped in yesterday for fish and chips, a chicken and curry pie, and a sausage roll. I was skeptical because I wasn't a huge fan of the "proper fish and chips" I've had across the pond, but I am now a believer. The fish was fried perfectly with not too much breading. The tarter sauce was the perfect accompaniment. The sausage roll was sage-y and savory in a lovely buttery puff pastry blanket. The chicken and curry pie may have been my favorite, though, as I've never had one quite like it. Already looking forward to my next visit!

This place is a walk up and place your order.. and they bring it out. The fish is delicious with lots of fries!! Very nice price too. The building and seating is pretty low key, but the service is good. Drinks are self service at a fountain machine or a walk up bar with adult beverages. Its small with seating for 30 maybe?? I would order and sit outside next time. I would recommend this place as a post beach meal or stop to eat on the way somewhere. 👍👍

Delicious. The half fish & chips was a perfect serving for one person and the fish was perfectly crispy. You will have to salt the chips (fries) yourself when it’s nice and hot. The tartar sauce is delicious but a little crazy to pay extra for a condiment that you might not use all of it. Also note there is a 3.5% charge for using a card and they don’t tell you that up front you just find out on your receipt, so pay cash if that’s something that would bother you.
