This is honestly one of my favorite restaurants. We visited this place all the time when we lived here years ago. I still come back just to eat at Captain’s. I have never found a clam chowder I love more than the one at this restaurant. They have delicious fish, spectacular chowder, and most things on the menu are decent (I’ve heard). If you want good seafood, give Captain’s a try!
Fantastic food and service. I can't say enough how friendly and helpful their staff is. I started with a bowl of their clam chowder. It was fabulous. Then, i had an order of the halibut fish and chips. Also fabulous. I got two slices of pie togo and haven't had them yet. I highly recommend the captains choice fish house for a great meal in a nice casual atmosphere. The views not bad either.
Was greeted when we walked in... A+ on that. Most places ignores you until they are available to seat you. Acknowledgement is the key especially if the place is busy.

I had half and half which consist of breaded fried halibut and grilled snapper, accompanied by french fries and coleslaw. Hubby has bacon cheese burger and clam chowder. All in all, it was a great experience, great food and excellent service. Will definitely recommend.
This place was so great!!! My husband and I were on a PCH road trip, and this restaurant was close to the hotel we stayed at, and weren't we so lucky!!! I had a crab melt, and my husband had fish and chips. They were both AMAZING meals, but be warned, they have pretty large portions. The only negative was that we couldn't eat all of it and weren't able to take it with us!!!
The wait time was quick , maybe 10 or 15 minutes, and we ordered at the restaurant as opposed to calling our order in. We were there on a week night, but it was fairly busy, and there was a steady stream of folks in and out!! I guess some of the locals liked it as much as we did!!
Edit: How on the world did I forget to say how amazing the staff was!!! We'd never been there, so the (hostess?) at the front counter told us about some of the more popular items, had recommendations for us, and was just genuinely friendly!
Really good food. There is a nice view of the bay. I loved the huge fish tank with super cute fish! Mom, wife, daughter and nephew approved.
Captain's Choice has the best clam chowder I have found in the area. Their seafood can be prepared many different ways. Staff are very pleasant and welcoming. I highly recommend a visit.
Husband had the chopino and it was his favorite meal of our Oregon coast trip so far. Good chowder. Waitress was fantastic highly recommend this place.
Great place to take the family! We love everything about it. The fishtank is so cool, they have a great view of the bay, they have great service and their food is one of a kind. If u haven't tried it yet, what are u waiting for? Stop reading and go there and try it! Lol unless it's a Sunday or Monday cuz they closed those days.
While visiting Coos Bay for the first time, we decided to try this restaurant. Our food was sooooo yummy😋.

The biggest oysters in 40 years of experience coast to coast. Fresh, fried, not greasy melt in your mouth...side of garlic bread was perfect. Green salad looked like a salad bar and was just as delicious.

Loved this place for pur seafood dinner after hiking the Oregon Dunes. We had clam chowder in bread bowl and the Captain's Catch. Really recommend the snapper!
Great and courteous service (we ordered take out): really flexible in customizing our order, food was ready in 10 minutes, we were offered different dipping sauces, vinegar, silver ware etc.
Some of the best clam cowder, halibut, and cod fish n chips ive ever had. Eaten fish and chips and clam chowder up and down both coasts. And this place is definitely in the top three for both. Just wow! I honestly was not expecting it to be as good with the reviews.
Their atmosphere is a little more old timey, but its great. Definitely will be going back anytime I'm in the area!
Not to mention, tartar is on point, garlic toast is soo good, and slaw was delicious!
1000% Recommed over Pelican Brewerery. Ate at Pelican the following day where we literally ordered the same items with 1 less beer...and the total was more.
The Verdict, Captains Choice's food is twice as better... and cheaper. Just wild!
Nice little fresh seafood restaurant with a view of the bay. Good choices and the food is pretty good. Back to normal operations after all the COVID mess and they do still wear masks. Food was delicious as always and service was great!
