Review Cafe Gratitude Newport - Newport Beach

Allyne Marcon-Dawson
Cafe Gratitude is slightly hidden, but they did a good job with adding signs to lead customers to their place. The service was excellent. The staff was kind, fast, and professional. The place is beautifully decorated. If your skin is highly sensitive to the sun, however (speaking here as someone who went to the Cafe accompanied by a melanoma cancer surviver), know there's very limited space to sit indoors AND - even indoors - their window treatment does not at all block the sun. I had the strawberry + apple + ginger juice and it was DELICIOUS! $13.5 for a freshly pressed juice. I also had a bowl and the combination of flavors was really good. I'd recommend to try out this place for it's food and service. I'm likely not returning because their price point is similar to some farm-to-table restaurants in OC where you get to sit comfortably and with a nice view.

Great vegan food, amazing patio & great smoothies and juices. The “chicken” and waffles are great, they will also custom the pizza to your liking, great staff and cool vibe patio.

Been here and loved it! Pictures are actually from the one in DTLA but looks like they have closed. Both locations Newport Bch and DTLA are nice. The vegan nachos are so good and loved the matcha iced latte!

We loved this restaurant! The food is fresh and I love all the plant based options. We enjoyed everything we ordered, such great ideas. The service was really friendly. I recommend the crunch wrap, so delicious!

Tried this place - really like the menu offerings. PS Coffee drinks only have non-dairy milk choices (no issue for me but FYI for others.) It was a little hard to find (sorta hidden in the back corner of a building) and the location feels sorta like you're sitting in the middle of a parking lot (cause you kind of are) but all in all I'd return.

Café Gratitude is located behind Gracias Madre and in the same family. This location is small compared to the San Diego location I visited last week. The food however is just as good. I went with the breakfast burrito, an a I am sincere for dessert. The burrito was yummy and had just a slight hint of spice. You get a side and I chose chips. The dessert was also good. We ordered two entrées from here. The Basil Pesto Kelp Noodles and the Spicy Buffalo Wrap. We had them delivered as we get quite a bit delivered from local restaurants all over OC. For the Basil Pesto Kelp Noodles ($18) Pros: Light and refreshing Decent portion Tasted fresh Cons: App stated this dish came with kalamata olives and green olives. There were no kalamata olives in either container. The green olives, although only a few were pretty hard. The dish in a whole needed some moisture - the pesto “sauce” was also a bit hard so if you are looking for something creamy, this isn’t it, but is it good? Yes and sometimes that is more than enough for delivery. The price point is high for the plate which includes some kelp noodles, 4 cherry tomatoes, 4 hard green olives, some arugula, and nuts that needed to go into the food processor for longer. Spicy Buffalo Wrap ($18) + $1.75 for added coconut bacon This was the complete opposite of the other dish. Pros: Very filling Super flavorful Generous portion Comes with tasty ranch Cons: It tastes like one big pile of tasty mush - there wasn’t enough texture to want to keep eating it although the flavor profile was on point. We asked for no scallions in our wrap and half of it only had a few and the other was full of scallions. (Side note: If you have any sensitivities or allergies to certain foods, I would go the extra mile and give them a call to make sure your food is prepared how you’d like it rather than just leaving a note like we did.) The fries we requested on the side were a pass. If you have an air fryer at home, it’s a somewhat easy fix, but it’s not just that they were soggy but they also weren’t tasty at all. The coconut bacon tasted like candy chews in the wrap instead of giving the wrap that needed savory crunch. The ketchup that comes on the side for both wraps had broken container tops so the ketchup wasn’t closed and spilled over. It’s a little thing, but still, it’s strange it was on both. So overall, with perhaps more cons than pros, why are we giving them 4 stars? Well, they do taste better than most vegan/veggie eateries in the area. They use mostly organic ingredients and have ingredients listed on their website which I appreciate. They clearly tell you if something is gluten free, dairy free, etc and either way, we can just ask. Most importantly for me though is after eating from both dishes, my Asthma wasn’t affected and that’s 5 stars on its own. Asthma and allergy sufferers can agree that if we’ve had a meal with bad ingredients in it, it can become harder to breathe or we become itchy (for eczema sufferers) etc. This wasn’t the case for us and we both suffer from different ailments. So would we order from Cafe Gratitude again and do we recommend them? Yes and Yes. Just know what you are getting and ask questions. Happy eating.

Sat on the patio, there was shade and a nice breeze. Servers were friendly and the nachos came really quick. The pineapple upside down cake was delicious. If I lived in CA then I would go again, but I'm glad I decided to add it to my list of places to go while visiting.

First timer. Atmosphere is great. Clean, cool decor, spacious, indoor or outdoor seating. Love that entire menu is plant based. Actually tough to choose - but I went with the “Welcome”, a lentil & butternut squash loaf with amazing sides, liked potatoes mashed and beets. SO flavorful. Had what looked to be drab but was a SUPER tasty dessert - I think it was called “Kind”, a quinoa bar drizzled in chocolate. (ask for the dessert menu). Overall great experience.

Amazing food and service! This is organic, plant-based vegan food, so you might be thinking that it's bland or boring. Nothing could be further from the truth. The food is AMAZING and the service even better. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. We'll definitely be back.
