I have been eating at Cappys for about 25 years! I have never yet had a bad meal! Still amazes me that they can have so many diverse and great tasting items on the menu and all at fair prices! Also, their buttermilk pancakes are second to none. Whenever I try breakfast at any other restaurant, I will at least order a side of their buttermilk pancakes and compare them to the buttermilk pancakes you get at Cappy’s! I have friends who play this same game with me! We still have not found any pancakes better than what Cappys serves! If someone else thinks they have a contender, I welcome them to let the rest of us know. Meanwhile, always order a side of buttermilk pancakes at Cappys and share with your table! You will be glad that you did!
Great food.... have a lot of Seafood on their menu but it's the Beach so I guess it was to be expected�. Lots of other choices too for those of you like me who do t care for seafood!!! We had the chili cheese omelette and it was great with fruit cup that had apples, bananas, pineapple & watermelon as well as that dreaded green melon.... everything was very fresh....
Loved the breakfast. Great food and service. Place pretty much had a full bar as well. Loved the bloody marry. Would recommend the place and would return again.
This was a great place to eat. I had corned beef hash (homemade) and it was delish. Their potatoes are also great. The service was very good. I sat outside and could feel the ocean breeze. Wonderful experience.
Best breakfast in town. Walked in, got a smile, a booth, menus, water, and coffee - all within a minute. The waitresses all seemed very well trained.

I just moved here from a smaller town and have been looking for a place that served food just like some of my favorite places where I used to live. And this really hit the spot!! Came here for brunch and it was delicious!! Friendly staff too! Definitely recommend!
Best breakfast in Newport. Service great...eggs perfectly cooked (moist, not dry)...and the people nice! have eaten here many times when in town and plan to go back!
Good diner fare. After passing this place several times and always seeing a full parking lot, I decided to stop in for breakfast.
Eclectic beachy interior with wildly painted walls and waitresses in tank tops might be a slight shock to the senses. The menu is enormous with more omelet choices that I may have ever seen.
I settled on the California omelet that was overstuffed with fresh tomatoes, avocado, crispy bacon and topped with melted cheddar cheese. There was easily 3x more filling than egg, and it was great!
I'd be interested to try the lunch. Only open from 6am - 3pm, try going during the week or you can expect a long line.
Best breakfast place. Lived in SoCal for 17 years. Will always go back for breakfast whenever I return. The Chili Cheese omelette with the parmisian potatoes are incredible! Have not been in a few years, I hope it is still the same.
They are super awesome. The food is good mimosas are great. I couldn't be happier right now
Try the corned beef hash. A greasy spoon with some amazing corned beef hash. Only open for breakfast and lunch. The portions are huge but the service is just OK (the fit waitresses don't seem to think they need to earn their tips). Prices are reasonable. A bit of clogged sink whiff coming from the kitchen on my last visit, yuck. Still, I will return for the corned beef.

Here on a short weekend, you never know if a place can live up to the hype - but I came for brunch and was delighted. The people were friendly, very attentive, and efficient. The food was *amazing* and I wish I could stay longer to try more things from the extensive menu.

I just LOVEDDDD this place and can't wait to come back! I was having a rough start to my day, but between the parking attendant, service staff, and the AMAZING Monte Cristo, my day became perfect. This whole team was welcoming, stress-free (regardless of being incredibly busy), and their teamwork and support for one another was recognizable. I've not experienced such joy at a diner before. Not to mention, my own joy devouring my meal!

Wow, Great food and service! My husband had The biggest chicken fried steak he has ever had. Everything tasted great, and was made of quality ingredients.

Came here for lunch with my daughter for lunch. We had our dog with us and she was able to sit outside with us! Ordered the build your burger. Juicy! Our waitress Shelby was awesome! She was very attentive!
Great little hometown type breakfast diner! Generous portions....lots of choices. Between us we had French Toast & pancakes....which you can up size with a side of eggs & bacon or sausage. There were also lots of omelettes and " Benny" choices! Service was fast and efficient! Think old time diner! Colorful walls with artistic depictions of the local Newport area!

Cappy's was amazing. We had about 13 in our party. Cappy's was very accommodating. We used the online table reservation but because of the size of our party we could not use the online reservation so we called and explained and they were very helpful reserving a table for us. The food was great, portions were favorable. Shown is the cinnamon bun french toast combo with eggs, sausage and bacon (thick), chiliquilla and corned beef hash with home fries loaded with onions, green peppers and cheese. The CBH was home made, not from a can and delicious. It was served over bread. The home fries were excellent. The chiliquilla was a little soggy from maybe sitting too long before it was delivered, but it was still very good. The menu had a lot of options to choose from. Everyone was very happy with their orders and had a great time. The service was excellent. Christie was our main server and she did an amazing job keeping up with our large group.
A cold and rainy day warmed up with good coffee and food. Ample portions offered at reasonable prices. A wide range of breakfast (and lunch) choices. There is literally something for anyone. Waitstaff were all lovely and friendly. Perfect breakfast stop.
Cappies is my favorite breakfast spot in Orange County, CA! I especially love their Benedicts, but I swap the bacon for pattie sausage, and I like it better that way. Their hollandaise sauce is to die for and their biscuits and gravy is super yummy, too! My boyfriend really enjoyed his French Toast breakfast, as well! Service is fast and friendly…I just wish they were open for dinner!
