Exceptional Lunch, Excellent Service
The post-Thanksgiving, early December pre-Christmas season offered a wonderful opportunity to appreciate the newly renovated and updated Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar, and sample the Friday afternoon recently launched attractive lunch menu. Approaching the restaurant from Fashion Island, it was immediately obvious we were in Newport Beach, as we passed by the THREE Lamborghini Huracans stacked up out front. Unfortunately, none were ours, but we were in for an equally classy and elegant lunch. On entering, the recently redone interior was striking for its open and airy upscale California look, unlike the previous (and typical) dark wood and red upholstered ambience of the usual steakhouse. The wood tones were light, the ceilings high, the lighting muted yet illuminating. We were offered our choice of outdoor patio or indoor table dining. We chose a double half crescent booth (with a view of the open kitchen, behind noice-reducing glass) open at both sides, with spacious seating for up to six comfortably.
We were warmly greeted on entry by Operating Partner Sanjiv Gupta, who was attentively noting every detail of the operations. The menu offerings were informatively reviewed by our waitress Amy B, leading us to start with the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, garnished with roasted red peppers and lime sauce, delicious enough to want to lick the plate.
Our lunch entrees included a generously-portioned prime steak filet salad, healthily decadent, satisfying that steak urge one feels on entering such a classic steakhouse, yet with enough roughage to turn even a die-hard vegetarian.
The more pure carnivore at the table was torn between the Surf and Turf burger, consisting of a NY prime burger topped with a crab cake, a California burger, or the winner: a NY steak sandwich, dripping with glazed onions, with horseradish dip on the side.
If we hadn’t filled up on apps and entrees, the dessert of a slow-cooked Chocolate lava cake, a rich chocolate cake with a molten center of Callebaut belgian chocolate, served with premium vanilla ice cream and chopped pistachios would have been tempting, but we concluded with the remainder of our delicious Argyle 2014 Reserve Pinot Noir and Rombauer Chardonnay.
A lovely lunch was enjoyed by all, which led us to book our office Christmas luncheon here in several weeks…the ultimate compliment! Cheers!

My husband surprised me with a Birthday Dinner at Fleming’s last night! I was immediately impressed that upon check-in several members of the staff wished me “Happy Birthday!” That set the tone for the evening. We were escorted to a lovely corner table where we enjoyed a delicious meal. My husband and I shared the generous crab cakes as an appetizer (yum!) and then salads. Mine: Seasonal. His: Wedge. Two thumbs up! 👍🏾My petite filet mignon was melt-in-your-mouth tender and flavorful and my hudband’s none-in steak was cooked perfectly. We shared the delectable scalloped potatoes and grilled asparagus. Then...they brought a lovely ribboned box to the table with a lit candle along with my dessert of choice (carrot cake - double yum!) Much to my surprise, enclosed in the gift box were four Belgian chocolates! Just for me! Divine! I couldn’t have asked for better ambiance, attentive service and a feeling that the staff was truly appreciative that we dined with them. Thank you Fleming’s (and our waiter Lisa) for making my birthday celebration so special! I appreciate your efforts very much.
💯 This is our 2nd Friendsgiving at Flemings and it does not disappoint! We will be back again next year… thanks to Sous Chef Edgar Meza! You made our night memorable. We had an amazing experience. The food was delicious, the sea food tower 🤤 and the tomahawk were our favorites. Let’s not mentioned the dessert, that’s to die for(make sure you save room for that)! We truly appreciate you making us feel welcome and at home. Your attentiveness and kindness goes unnoticed!
It was not the same dining experience as before.
Visiting from Canada, We dine at this location each year.
Dined on Tomahawk Tuesday with the same waiter as last year.
Steak was undercooked, which they corrected the second time.
Not a mention of "Sorry" but did try to sell the LAVA CAKE while we are waiting for our meal. TACKY, TACKY!!
On a positive note, the manager did call me back. We did dinner for a second time and had a great experience!
Finally, I find that Flemings is not a great "Bang for the buck" as in years past.
I would suggest some smaller steak sizes offered. Inflation is affecting everyone.
Why can't I order a small steak with potato and vegetables for $50.00 ?
35oz Tomahawk on Tuesday @ $150.00 is steep. What about a smaller size 28oz for $135.00??
In conclusion, As a regular customer, I now feel Flemings has priced themselves out of the market. Inflation effecting us all, now it has priced me away from Flemings.
Nice place. The Steak was cooked to perfection. What I really enjoyed was the lava cake. Takes some time to make, but definitely worth the wait. Everyone you encounter here is trying to provide you with outstanding service. The place is a little dark for me personally. Luckily we were sitting next to the window.
We’ve visited many Fleming’s locations, I can honestly say this is by far the absolute best! It’s always a superb experience dining here. The staff always make us feel welcomed, they are on point and always honor our reservation time. The ambience is great, not too quiet not too loud. Most importantly, the food is amazing! Steaks always cooked to perfection by chef EDGAR and his amazing staff. He’s even stopped by our table on a few occasions to make sure everything is excellent.
Amazing experience with our server and bartender Rene he made some great recommendations. Can’t wait to go back and try the lava cake.
Tuesday special! Worth it!
Tomahawk steak was good as well as the sides and desserts. But, the service was amazing by all, greeter, server Megan and Chef Josh, who was able to come out at our request to compliment. Had a great chat and even took some dirty dishes back. Not the place's fault, but a nearby group asked us if it was ok to light the flames on the side. We agreed out of courtesy, but the afternoon wasn't cold and it warmed us up a bit more than what we wished we had and didn't want to change tables out of respect as well.
That's a very neat place. Our waiter is very polite. The starter is Ahi Tuna. That is tuna chops and avocado blocks wrapped by a thin cucumber slice. That is yummy. We chose fillet mignon (medium rare) and Ribeye (medium). The steak is tender. The meal just satisfies everything that I expected to a steakhouse. Only one thing that bothered me a little is that the waiting time between starters and entrées was longer than our previous experience. But overall, we enjoy our dinner at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse.
We've been coming to Flemings for over two decades. Never had a bad experience. Staff is always fantastic, and food is above par.
Table service is very nice. Came here on my anniversary and the restaurant prepared Happy Anniversary card and chocolate for us. I definitely love the butter spread so much. Our server was very nice and polite. Steak were tender and tasty. The restaurant is very cozy and luxurious. Highly recommended to have a date or special occasion lunch/ dinner here.
This was one if not the best dining experience of my life. Jeffrey was amazing. It was like he was reading my mind. We never had to ask for anything. Honestly, he was able to epitomize great customer service and courtesy. The food is always great at Flemming's, but this level of dedication to their customers overall experience is unmatched. I am so grateful 🙏🏽
