Review Mastro's Ocean Club - Newport Beach

It’s always nice to be back here. All the servers are being proactive and professional that they know what they do and they often check with us what we want/need. I haven’t been here for a while but the quality of service and foods never changed. It’s a perfect place for business scenes and social gatherings. The ambiance is great. I wish they offered a live music like classic music at the restaurant. I would say it’s a bit dark inside for walking around or reading menu. lol… Overall, I always enjoy their food, drinks and service here at Mastro’s.

The service at this restaurant was far beyond my expectations. The waitstaff is so attentive down to the smallest details, we were never left needing or wanting anything. Our server Emmy was amazing! Restaurant has a beautiful view (certain tables) that are great for Sunset dining. Food was delicious. Will absolutely be back.

This place is elegant and has a great atmosphere with live music a pianist, views of the Pacific Ocean 🌊, and a nice bar with a great selection. We sat in the outdoor garden you feel the great California weather we enjoy the evening as the sun clocked out. Shout out to Travis for the great service and explaining to us the menu and also to The Great Staff who brought us water making sure we weren’t dry and cleaned our tables they where on top of it. Now the Food 22oz Porto House Steak medium well tender meat with a nice taste of the char on the outside smokiness flavor $73. It was a fantastic place to eat. The food was excellent and served by a very experienced staff. Drinks were expensive, but the whole evening was well worth it. Definitely going back when we're back in Irvine, California.

Had a wonderful time and the piano player was an excellent singer and has the best positive attitude. He's happy and very professional and entertaining!

For a steak house and I didn’t like the rub they used!? They should give more choice of rubs so that I don’t have to go with just salt and pepper.

This place is always epic. The food is all amazing. had the clam chowder with bacon. Shnaps ... It was great. The steaks are all great. The 12oz filet was juicy and flavorful... Nice for a lean filet and I had some ribeye and it's. Ribeye, can't go wrong..the sides were marvelous but leave room for butter cake. Always! The bread service is fantastic and the drinks and service are spot on and approachable. I enjoy being here and come back over over again.

This is my second time here for dinner. Food was delish, as always. We ordered the following items: 1. Ahi tuna tartare - more spicy than I expected but yumm! 2. Crab cakes - delish 3. Ahi tuna steak - loved it 4. Brussel Sprouts - didn’t enjoy it much, had too much pepper 5. Lemon Blueberry butter cake - yummy The ocean views from here are amazing.

A fantastic experience at Mastro’s. We got the Porterhouse and New York strip. Our sides were the macaroni and cheese and brussels sprouts. Definitely recommend. We finished with the butter cake. You’ll need reservations here and expect to pay some serious money for dinner. Worth every penny.

Upscale, fine dining at Mastro’s Ocean Club Newport Beach, CA. You must try the sinful Butter Cake, and the lobster mashed potatoes are out of this world.

Check out my full review on the blog

mall across the parking lot of Trader Joe's and Pier Import? Perhaps only in Newport Beach, and this is. where you can find Mastro's Ocean Club. The sister restaurant, Mastros Steakhouse, is known for. their steaks, while Ocean Club emphasize seafood. Fortunately, they. serve the best of both steak and seafood at this restaurant.

We took my sister for dinner here on 11/30/14. Server was Damien (I believe) and was very nice and very professional.

We split a bowl of the clam chowder which was huge being split for us. Had a very smokey delicious flavor; however, clams were slightly on the chewy side.

My husband ordered the Mahi Mahi, I ordered appetizer size (3) of the Scallops, my sister ordered 6 oz Filet Mignon. The entree's for my sister and I came out delish!

My poor husband had a total of 3 times his fish being done. First his fish immediately being served you can see it was so dried out and overcooked without even eating/tasting it. Second time, he got a brand new Mahi and was practically 'raw'...the most disturbing is they put the same fish back on the grill and not getting a new fish or cooking the way that delicate fish is supposed to be cooked. Needless to say the 3rd time was not a charm and only ate a couple bites.

We ordered the mashed potatoes with Lobster. What a hefty hefty price tag. It was slightly soupy not sure from butter or what but didn't look appealing and worst of all the lobster was too overcooked and completely far from tender as it should be. So disappointing, AND especially for $35!!! We got the side of Mushrooms--these were delish!

Cocktails, wine, and espresso were good.

Dessert for the bday girl was a HUGE chocolate cake that was 4 or 5 or 6 layers. Not bad.

Overall, it wasn't as good as I thought. The weather wasn't great to enjoy the beautiful sea view that we had reservations to face the ocean. I read some writers stating about being too noisy ....Guess where you sit....our area was fine.

Awesome food, cool interior, polished servers. Everything feels like a high end club. EXCEPT THE MUSIC. Instead of classy lounge acts the place is made for each time the grand piano lid was shut with a laptop on top, playing backing tracks of modern songs that never quite made it into top 40. Like listening to a mediocre fm radio station. As if some freshly baked mba management consultant sold this as a strategy to attract a younger crowd. Why the chose to imitate a dive bar is beyond me. The food is good though.

World Diner Extraordinar. Food and service were the greatest. The waiter suggested the next time we visited to come early to have a drink and watch the sunset. So our next time, my wife and I got there about 4:30 for a 5:00 dinner reservation. The VERY VERY efficient gentelman at the front desk said we couldn't come in till 5:00. I told we wanted to have a drink and watch the sunset. He repeated "You can't come in till 5:00" Very rude.
We went around to the patio entrance and asked if we could go to bar, which opened at 4:30, they said we could. We had a nice drink and watched a beautiful California sunset and waited for our guests and had an excellent time. From the way we were treated at the door, I felt like going somewhere else, glad we stayed.

Good Food, little pricy. Don't get me wrong, this place has extremely good food. There is a lot to chose from and overall I have enjoyed all the food here. And I get it, high end seafood restaurants are usually a little pricy, but this place seems a little overpriced for me. The food portions are nothing special, especially with the appetizers. I still really like this place, just feel it isn't the best value for certain people. Still worth trying, just not if you are on a budget!

This place is very good, with some excellent seafood offerings but also very overpriced. It carries over the ritzy steakhouse tradition of paying for sides ala carte even thought he primary focus here is seafood. It does have a nice view though.

In a place with as many wonderful restaurants as Newport Beach it just seems very pretentious and overpriced.

I love this place and try to get here when i'm in town. Few restaurants have as unique a building as this one, with its open plaza interior. A cool evening, a little jazz, a great martini make a perfect night out. The seafood is extraordinary, particularly the shellfish and oysters. Steaks as well. Great salads and sides, which everything should be at these prices. I dont understand anyone going to a premium chain steakhouse when one can go to great independents like this.

Judge me wrong... too bad!. I've been here many times, and the last time wasn't my favorite. We went for our anniversary, just for dessert since we went elsewhere to eat dinner (just to try a new place). We didn't have a reservation, but it was late as it was so i figured it's just two people, not staying long anyways. (around 11pm already!) We walked in and the hostess said she would see if they had a table, so we waited around in the lobby. (SHE DIDINT MOVE A STEP FROM THE F**** PODIUM) so after about 20 min i had my husband ask if she found anything. (we were getting tired of watching old white women with boob jobs that looked like they needed to be redone and overly tanned skinned, along with their 'sugar daddy' husbands! ha) finally we sit down. It was very very very crowded in the bar area, which the hostess took us through there to sit in the middle area where its pretty much a view of the sky. (idk why she didn't walk through the other way??? I know there's another way of getting there!) so we sit down and our waiter comes around... (he was a smart ass) im not there to make small talk with waiters! we get our food, ordered the infamous butter cake... which ive had many times, and honestly I don't think it's as good as before. (IVE MADE THE RECIPE... mine was better. ) eh .. so we finish and leave. Over all this place has lost it's "high end touch" .. now i see it as a place for old white rich ppl to show how much money they have.. COURSE. just bc we didnt flaunt how much money we had.... doesn't mean we didn't have any... might i say winning the lotto not to long ago is great! buutttt.... i don't think we'll be taking our millions here.

Amazing food. Great piano bar. Lots of energy at the bar. One of my favorite dinner spots in OC

Excellent. With Mastro's Steakhouse being a superior offering to competitive steakhouse chains, how does the Ocean Club stack up against competitive seafood offerings? Great news is that the Ocean Club clobbers the alternatives. As with most Mastro's locations the decor is contemporary and luxurious. This location features a unique dining room blending interior and exterior patios which compliment each other in pleasing ways. With the combination of old family money and new Newport Coast wanna bes the people watching can't be beat. Service is top notch with even our cocktail waitress on a recent visit offering surprisingly polished service. And then the food! Just like other Mastro's locations the Ocean Club offers gigantic portions of food and drink with everything prepared perfectly. On the most recent visit the Crab Gnocchi side dish was unreal - could have made a meal of it. The Halibut entree was as savory as a Rib Eye Steak and the Bone In Filet was melt-in-your mouth good and cooked to perfection. An excellent fish-house which the other upper-end seafood establishments in the O.C. simply can't compete with. Highly recommended.

Wowza. One spectacular steak and seafood house!

Very Good. Manhatten size servings- the Oysters are fabulous and the Horseradish will bite- what a fun memory.

This is a great place to come and know your food will be enjoyed and a well deserved treat. The $$'s are worth every penny spent here.

Great Overall Restaurant. This is a favorite of ours...go early and have a drink in their bar, listen to some music and make an evening out of this one. Service is always top notch and the menu has amazing choices. Get the seafood tower and share a steak...making your own version of surf and turf. The warm butter cake is a perfect ending to a great experience.
