Call ahead to make sure someone is manning the storefront (sometimes employees are out on delivery). Wedding cake tastings are picked up by appointment on the weekend, so it was nice to be able to sample their cakes at my leisure at home. Points for having more unique flavors (i.e. guava, mango).
