Review The Palm Court - New York City

Located inside the iconic Plaza Hotel across from Central Park and Fifth Ave. Took my son for their holiday tea time, the valet was hard to get into, but once we made it to the front they made us feel welcomed, the check-in was easy and friendly, the staff was very caring and professional, the tea bites and experience was just wonderful. I recommend trying it at least once to be a part of their 100+ year history and your memories.

A truly five star experience. Beautiful setting, selection of afternoon tea treats and service. My friend and I absolutely enjoyed our experience. My friend is a vegetarian and Palm Court made sure that her afternoon was just as delicious as mine. I have been lucky to enjoy many afternoon teas and I rate The Plaza's as one of the very best.

Food and service were absolutely amazing. We visited at Christmas time and the decor was equally beautiful. If you want to get in to see it, you need a reservation before 8 pm.

Made the trip to the plaza for tea. The place is gorgeous. Overall great experience. It's definitely pricy, but it is the plaza in NYC. Tea was great and staff was kind and helpful. Definitely a NYC experience.

Afternoon High tea, birthday extravaganza. A beautiful room, a very attentive server. A great family experience. Deserts very small but tasty. Scones small but tasty, sandwiches big disappointment. Of course it's expensive But are we here for the food or the experience? Last time in 2017 the food was much much better.

The ambiance, food, and atmosphere was impeccable. However, the ladies at check in did provide the same level of service and care as they did to the white guests. We were ignored and left standing as other guests were seated at their table. Very disappointing. 😩After we were finally seated the experience took a turn for the better.

**Afternoon tea** I visited the Palm Court for the afternoon tea. My friend, a greatest foodie and experiences fan, invited me to the Plaza claiming they have the best afternoon tea experience in New York (if not in the whole US). This is official: the experience is truly amazing! I have immersed myself into the luxury afternoon tea surrounding by beautiful interior and stylish audience. Speaking of food - delicious! Teas offered is something else! We chosen The Plaza Signature Tea menu, among which my favorites are: both types of scones, Pastrami Salmon Napoleon, and Kalamansi Meringue Tart. For tea I have picked Tropical Garden (infusion tea), and my friend's gotten Jukro. Both of those were also amazing! I highly recommend this experience for such occassions as an afternoon date, girls chat, or close-friends meet-up.

Managed to get a reservation for tea at The Palm Court in the Plaza Hotel and it absolutely oozed history and a blue blood atmosphere. Service was top notch as expected and it was fun to people watch and take in the vibes. Food and drinks were average at best and I've had much, much better tea experiences elsewhere (The Brown Palace in Denver in particular was a standout.) If you're in the mood to drop a good chunk of cash on an average tea experience in an above average atmosphere, grab a reservation.

We had brunch at the Palm Court the morning of our checkout from the Plaza. The meal was buffet style and very good, so was the service. I believe this is also the room where the Plaza's famous afternoon tea is served as well. At this point, though, the dining room could use a refresh. Overall, it was a fantastic experience.

Came here for high tea to celebrate a milestone birthday. This was a great way to celebrate it with enjoying high tea. The tea was fantastic and the food was so good. Would recommend.

Have you ever wanted to feel fabulously rich and important? Like a spoiled actor, a magnate, or a king? The palm court has cultivated an atmosphere which from start to finish is designed to make you feel like royalty. The food is certainly a flawless and unique experience, and if you do decide to come here I insist that you order a full service tower to have the full Palm Court experience. It is like a posh english tapas, with over 20 different small bites from savory to sweet to choose from. Each is a carefully crafted and exact blend of exotic flavors which each alone would qualify as a unique taste. Very rarely does a meal stand out for it's innovation and execution, but even more rare is when the service itself is specifically designed to leave a particular impression. Your food, beverages, and accoutrements are delivered to your table swiftly and with as little interaction as possible. In diners all across the Midwest you will find all manner of personable waiters and waitresses eager to crack jokes and get to know their guests. Here the approach is intentionally the opposite to highlight an air of professionalism that elevates the guests of the palm court. The impression is not for the servers to be your best friends, but instead to act as your humble servant to make you feel a sense of self importance. The total sum of each of these separate elements taken together is designed to make each and every guest feel special and important. For a taste of how it feels to live in true decadence look no further than The Palm Court in the Palace Hotel.

Great to take visiting parents. Was expecting a much brighter setting but still lovely. The long queue when you arrive does scream tourist trap but its fine once you sit down. Would recommend getting one of each afternoon tea so that you all get to try a bit of everything. So many amazing teas to try.. get the ones the waiter recommends all were lovely. The show stopper for me was the scones.. truffle and cheese and a cherry and raspberry.. absolutely delicious.. you can tell the pastry chef is British. Sandwiches were a little on the heavy side compared to some afternoon teas i have done but maybe thats why they also werent bottomless as some places also offer. A real treat but a must to tick off the bucket list

If you have the opportunity (and the cash) to experience afternoon tea here, you should. That being said, it is an experience. You aren’t paying for the rarest ingredients, which were still quite exceptional, you are paying for the history, the environment, the impeccable service, and the whole experience of having tea in such a storied place. The service was incredible. Everyone was so friendly and courteous. The food was superb as was the tea. We absolutely had a blast and would love to do it again.

The Palm Court reminds me a bit of a waterfall… quite a spectacular until one walks right behind it. I came here with a friend for brunch and I wasn’t terribly hungry so I opted for their Chinese tea which was quite the treat and very subtle. I had two or three items off the brunch platter and some were just fair while others I’m sure a second grader could easily prepare, such as the ham and cheese sandwich which wasn’t even that good. Besides the small impression of food, the setting is breath taking and garden-esque. The staff was mixed… some were more than well-attending and kind but our waiter had very weak English and poor communication as a result. Considering the setting I fail to understand why any of the waiters would not speak strong English. Ultimately I cannot give it less than four stars because I had a very memorable experience and I do want to come back, but some of the food was seemingly inexcusable. Maybe the chefs were caught on a bad day and I shall return for a dinner.

After reading reviews, we were nervous that we made a poor decision to do tea at the Plaza. However, the service turned out to be exemplary. Nothing was stale or tasteless as others mentioned. And the price is as expected for real estate at an iconic hotel across the street from Central Park. If anything, the only negatives were those who were at the bar area in jeans and the music that was absent for the first 15-20 minutes. Santa was very real and pure joy for the little girls in our group. Our server went out of his way to make them feel special. As a comparison, tea at the Penninsula in Beverly Hills has better ambience and quite a bit more food. It’s difficult to make such comparisons seeing as how that’s clear across the country and we tried not to do that.
