Nice cozy atmosphere with incredible staff. The bartenders were extremely friendly and more than willing to share their favorite tequilas - of which there is a LOT to choose from. The margaritas are deceptively potent and their chosen tequilas were exceptional. Oh yeah, they have food too. It was good. Certainly not the best Mexican food I've had but the menu is creative. It was a bit pricey for some of the portions, but not outrageous. Overall I'd go back again for a nosh and cocktails.
Let me start off by saying wooooow. This restaurant is a 5 star establishment from staff, manager, and chef best Mexican restaurant in the city period. I was blown away by everything ordered. The different sauces and food were top-notch top of the line period. The steak when I got it I was like ehh because it had sauce on my steak and I don't like sauce on my steak, so I was a little uneasy. I cut into the steak temperature, which was perfect. I tasted it, and I fell in love diffinely. I had the wow factor. Everything we ate had the wow factor. If you haven't gone to this restaurant, it's a must definitely put it on the to-do list. You will not be disappointed at all. Toloache, you made me a fan boy lol
I was in the area with my cousins who were visiting from out of town. We did a quick Google search for Mexican restaurants, and we decided to try Toloache. 5 of us arrived at dinner time without a reservation. The host staff was nice and found a table for us. The wait staff was very attentive and knowledgeable about the food and drinks. The drinks were delicious. I ordered the habanero spicy margarita, and I loved the amount of heat and tequila in the drink. The food was very tasty. We all enjoyed the appetizers and tacos. I ordered the fish tacos, and I liked that they were not overly battered. My only complaint was that the queso fundido was so good, but it was burnt on the bottom, and a lot of cheese was stuck to the cast iron pan, and we couldn't eat it. We tried scrapping it, but it tasted bitter. Overall, it was a great meal.
We enjoyed the atmosphere, the music and the food. We had as appetizer the QUESO FUNDIDO and as main meal Tacos CARNE ASADA and Tacos PASTOR. The dessert TOLOACHE CRUNCH CAKE was tasty and unusual.
one of the best meals i’ve had in my month in the city, the miso glazed black cod was one of those tastes you can only get in a fine-dining restaurant. exquisite. the service was the best i’ve seen, i drink an extreme amount of water and my glass was kept full. they must have refilled it at least 15 times. the pop rocks chocolate cake was uniquely divine. i will be back!
BEST Mexican place on the UES! We had the guacamole trio, carne asada tacos, lobster tacos, birria tacos, pescado tacos, pastor tacos and the ceviche special. Everything was amazing. We also had their espresso chocolate cake with dulche de leche ice cream— that was FANTASTIC! We started eating and I had to stop to take a pic! New neighborhood spot for sure.

My daughter and I made it a point to go to Toloache for dinner after a visit to the Met. We've been there several times and our latest meal did not disappoint. We decided to go strain for the main course and share three. The CALLO DE HACHA (Sea scallops, pumpkin-black truffle creamy rice, Poblano rajas, pepitas, brown butter) must have been a fairly recent addition to the menu (at least for us). The scallops were great, with the truly creamy rice that was satisfying. Our go to dish, the BACALAO TRUFADO (Miso-tequila glazed black cod, hon shimeji, mushrooms, corn, chipotle-black truffle butter) was on the menu and was delicious as always. Third dish, CARNITAS DE PATO (Braised duck carnitas, tamarind-habanero glazed, chicharrón, sweet onion salad, tortillas for tacos) was rather dry. The meat needed some sauce to make it juicier, but the taste was good. We finished our meal with a great Flan and Mexican coffee.
Excellent service, friendly and very professional waitresses. The shrimps tacos and enchilas, the best. And the pumpkin and black truffles creamy rice? to die for!!! If you are in the neighborhood don’t miss it! We went New Years Eve and the ambiance was great.
The food was great! Delicious fresh guac, smokey beans, perfect fish tacos. The grapefruit margaritas were to die for. The interior could use an upgrade, but nothing too disturbing. Service was quick and waitstaff very attentive.
