I held a post-wedding dinner reception in the private wine room and it was the perfect ambiance, food, and service. I am so happy we were able to celebrate here!

Went for lunch here and the food was good, Cesar the manager was amazing, he took care of us and accommodate my party when I did not had a reservation. Interesting wine list.

Gemma is a true gem in the heart of the East Village. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a modern yet rustic aesthetic. The exposed brick walls and vintage lighting create a cozy and intimate setting. The food is absolutely incredible. The menu features creative Italian dishes made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Every bite was bursting with flavor, and the presentation was beautiful. I highly recommend the homemade pasta and the pistachio cannolis! The service was top-notch. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable, and he made sure we had everything we needed throughout the night. Overall, I had an amazing experience at Gemma. It's a great place for a romantic dinner, a special occasion, or just a casual night out with friends. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious and stylish dining experience in the East Village. Here are some additional reasons why I gave Gemma 5 stars: Location: Conveniently located in the East Village, close to public transportation. Ambiance: Warm and inviting, with a modern yet rustic aesthetic. Food: Creative Italian dishes made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Service: Top-notch service, with attentive and knowledgeable staff. Value: The prices are reasonable for the quality of the food and service. If you're looking for a hidden gem in the East Village, look no further than Gemma! You won't be disappointed.

Wonderful ambience, chic, warm, and beautiful. Our waitress was great! Foods were slightly bit oily for me, but overall very tasty, love the wine and espresso martini!

Sat at the bar and just had drinks but the vibes were so cute here. Very cozy for a winter night out. The bar tenders were so nice and accommodating. Initially we were standing and they helped to make room so that we could be seated. Had a delicious decaf martini and would definitely go back for another! For a Friday night at 9 it was definitely busy but not crazy packed.

Unique ambiance! The staff was less friendly and welcoming than other cafes I’ve been to in NYC. It wasn’t even busy when I was there (the place was mostly empty), yet it seemed like no one I interacted with really wanted to be there or be helpful. For instance, the host was on the phone when I entered and impatiently motioned me to leave the host stand to get my own table. I ordered tea, which was fine, and cannot speak to the food.

The atmosphere was great and the food was excellent. The staff were very friendly. I will definitely visit again. : This restaurant has pretty plates, too. 😍 🍽🍛

Ample indoor and outdoor seating. Freshly prepared cuisine. Located attached to the famed Bowery Hotel. Large portion sizes so meals can be eaten tapas style, plus brunch all day long. Friendly and professional wait staff and fairly quick service despite the busyness. Private room for large parties/meetings.

Planned an engagement party dinner here and it was perfect LOTS of food, we ordered burratta, green salad, steak, salmon, pasta, and tiramisu. All delicious. And not too loud. Incredible and accommodating service to dietary needs.

Delicious food and amazing atmosphere! I can't say too much about the service because we were a gigantic party. I'm sure it wasn't easy for them to manage. But overall superb experience

Ended up here by accident. The manager was not that really helpful but after poiting out few spots, he managed to figure out how to seat us. Really loved the ambience, indoors. Outdoors not so much. If you don't mind fish smells or strong kitchen smells while you dine, this place is a good option for seafood, pasta & pizzas. It aost felt as if it needed better ventilation. Staff was cordial & efficient. Drinks, Mexicote, was delicious. I Def wouldn't skip this place. Overall a good experience.

Gemma is an upscale Italian restaurant connected to the Bowery Hotel. While there, we got a prosciutto pizza and mushroom ravioli pasta(was a daily special). Both were top notch and up there for some of the best Italian food we had had. The atmosphere is nice but with a slightly more casual and warm vibe when compared to other top scale Italian restaurants. I definitely would like to come back here in future trips.

Beautiful ambiance, one of the most spacious restaurants in town. Dimly lit and prompt services. I've been here twice. The cocktails are quite something. The food is delicious however I ended up paying $40 for just a mock tail and a pasta dish.

I went here for my birthday and it was really lovely! Was able to reserve a big table during dinner hours. The pizza and cocktails were delicious.

Gemma is a great spot for quality Italian food, good atmosphere, and fantastic service. This place stands alongside many great Italian place in the city, the Burratta and Pappardelle demonstrates that, although not the best I've ever had or in the city.

Amazing Food and Very nice staff. I didn't think I would be recognized here but I was and was more then happy to sign some autographs. I was also able to do some free readings here and the people were wonderful. Had The Best Time! Julia Siracusa Psychic Medium Horsefly Chronicles Radio The United Public Radio Network

Stellar all around: food, drinks, atmosphere! My local friends gathered here in celebration of a friend visiting. The environment was fabulous for a fancy yet comfortable lounge with fantastic food.

Thank you for a lovely lunch on our way to the New Museum. Friendly and attentive staff. We sat outside and were not hurried along but allowed to enjoy our meal.

Very cosy place with good food. Kitchen is open until 12AM for all the foodies who are hungry at that time. We ordered quatro fromagi pizza, Calamari insalate and truffle fries

I probably had one of my best Italian food experiences at this restaurant. Found this place by absolute chance as I was staying at the browery. The Cavatelli is a must try here

The service was slow and the waiter rarely checked in on our table, the food was okay nothing great
Michelle
The food was average for the cost. However, the staff was amazing and the clientele was nice and provided interesting people watching. I would still suggest this place for a night out.

Just OK. Here for the first time. Very convenient to our friends apartment. Nice looking place inside. Outdoor dining is available, but we chose inside for a late lunch. We found the food to be OK though not exceptional. The waiter was not great. He apologized to us and all the other tables near us for the wait. He blamed the kitchen, but not sure about that. Nonetheless, not at the top of our list but would try again.

Great for breakfast. Adjacent to the Bowery Hotel, where we stayed, this spot was quite the scene. Tip top service for a gourmet breakfast and hot coffee. Old building, young crowd.

Terrible. The scene, the food, the service, the clientele.

Gemma is on the top of my list for many reasons: affordable, fun and delicious. It is a must try in NYC!

P.S. If you are wondering I did say hi to Thom Yorke, and he was super cool! Ha!
Eat The City
Located in the Bowery Hotel, Gemma is a rustic Italian restaurant with a charming ambiance. Always bustling, but never too busy to accommodate a walk-in, this is a great place to go for a last minute brunch on a weekend afternoon. Not wanting to deal with the ridiculous wait on a Sunday afternoon at the neighboring Peels, we walked over and were seated in five minutes. The decor is rustic, warm, and inviting; with leather booths, dark wooden paneling and iron chandeliers. The casual atmosphere and friendly service make the restaurant even more appealing. After being seated we skimmed the menu and made our choices. What we ordered : - Contadina Pizza organic eggs, mushrooms, fontina, truffle oil, prosciutto Thin crust pizza with the perfect amount of crunch. The fried eggs on top made for a perfect breakfast addition. The truffle oil and prosciutto added great flavor. A MUST order. - Baked Eggs, Avocado & Prosciutto served with tomato sauce, fontina cheese, and tuscan toast Served in a
Bitches Who Brunch
We were immediately seated in a prime location, perfect for people watching, as Gemma is famous for its celebrity sightings. Lattes were quickly ordered, followed by a complimentary bread basket that turned out to be a fabulous surprise: fresh, warm banana bread served with accompanying clarified butter. The thickness of this caramelized butter paired with warm banana bread was dangerously good and I had not one but two (gasp). It was, after all, a holiday. After a good look at the menu, I realized this brunch wasn’t for the carb fearing, with an assortment of pizzas and pastas for those who like a lunch-brunch, and many egg-centric traditionals for conventional b

Candles everywhere. On each table, on shelves high and low and in the middle of the space an ancient looking cluster with a mop of wax. It gives the room history and suggests, falsely, great age and tradition. The food is comforting and safe, there's nothing to challenge or confront. Stuffed zucchini flowers, Burrata drizzled with oil, a Nutella calzone. . . The usual suspects and clichés delivered by distracted waiters. From the list: Livio Felluga Collio Sauvignon 2011 . Melon and musk, this is crisp and textured with a twist of bitterness and grip. Graci Quota 600 Etna blanco 2010 . Gripping and nutty, textured and slightly fatty. http://feeds.feedburner.com/WinoSapien Click here for the original context

I’ve been wanting to go here for some time, I remember when the space was a filthy old gas station, now it’s a fancy hotel. Not that I’m complaining as free Italian food never hurt
