Bobby Van's Steakhouse - 50th Street

Bar food not to be overlooked. Lamb lollipops, Bang Bang Shrimp (little bit of heat) and Margherita Pizza. Yes, pizza. Used to be an Italian restaurant with a pizza oven and they just kept it. Wasn’t too bad. Good for a group to share. Bar area pretty roomy. Bartenders are friendly and professional.

My dinner was ok, not the best. We got early for our reservation, and the hostess took us to our table. As soon as we got settled, our server came asked me what kinda water I would like to have. I said flat water, and he misunderstood me and gave us tap water. He came back. I told him I was sorry but I asked for a bottle of flat water. He changed our glasses, brought new ones, served us the new water, and asked again any cocktail to drink, I asked for a wine list when me and my wife were discussing about what kinda red wine we will drink he came up 3 times asking if I were ready to order my wine and I said I am not. One time, he came to fill up my glass with tap water, and at the second time, I told the server we have bottle water on the table. Then we ordered our food SMOKED BACON for appetizers and porthouse for two medium. Our bacon alright on the dry side, and when the steak came out, the service was great. The server and his helper devided on our plates, but the steak didn't have flavor tasted. burned-out outside was dry. I had to ask for salt, and most of the steak house used some butter on top when it's cooking to give a better flavor. And the end spent a lot of money for an ok diner. If I ask, I would go back again for the steak no I won't, but to try different things on the menu, I would so i won't have the bad impression for the place.

Had dinner with a large group of colleagues here. We had a three course meal. From the starter of salad or fried calamari to entrees of filet mignon or ribeye, to dessert of tiramisu or cheesecake, every dish was cooked to perfection. Every turn to look at the plates, they were empty. The service was attentive and quick. We had a great evening dining here and will definitely come back.
