We were just walking around downtown looking for something to eat and came across this gem! It was four of so we got the platter that had brisket, ribs, chicken, 2 sausages and 3 large sides (baked beans, potato salad and Mac and cheese) all the bbq was tasty and seasoned well. What makes this place better than some of the rest is the sides. Was the sides spectacular no but for a bbq place they all were very decent, some places spend all their effort on the bbq but the sides be lacking, not here. I would definitely go back.

Well-placed restaurant in the heart of New York.
Very nice, typical American restaurant.
The meat was fantastic, both the Brisket and the Ribs. Of the side dishes, I'd highlight the mac&cheese.
Friendly staff.
Fun atmosphere even though it's at half gas.
I recommend the experience.

Best brisket I’ve had on Manhattan (only the moist one - be reasonable!), pickles and mac’n’cheese were also great. Wide selection of beers, tasty sauces (would be nice to have them a tiny bit less liquid though). Interior is somewhat typical, but well-made, spacious and woody. This huge star at the entrance brings you back to both: Texas and Kremlin!

For those who like BBQ-style dinners with large groups, this is the best place around. I haven't been there on a Live music night but this homegrown Texas barbecue place offers nice live shows every other day.
It has high ceilings and pretty comfy searing area. I love their sauce, nachos and wide selection of Texas style cocktails.

Hill Country is a no-fail BBQ spot. I've been a few times, and the service, food, and atmosphere are always on point. Honestly, no matter what you have, you won't be disappointed.

Very nice place in the heart of Manhattan, close to flatiron.
Bbq Texan style with the food that is really good. Brisket (I suggest the moist one) is very good, pulled pork is delicious and the ribs are a must have!
Sides are good and pricing is aligned with expectations, that is great!
Service is great. Place can get quite packed after 6:30pm even on a Thursday. Wait time should not be bad as the service is quick but booking a table is a safe choice!

Great food, great service, what more could you ask for, especially in the middle of Manhattan? The brisket is moist, the ribs are delicious and the baked beans with burnt ends are amazing. Oh and their pickled onions and cucumber mix is out of this world. I've been a few times over the years but most recently came for my Moms bday. She had a blast and they made her meal extra special!

Had the chopped brisket sandwich and potato salad. I would prefer the brisket not drowned in so much sauce. It was a shame considering it was quite nice. The potato salad was comfortable and pleasant.

Amazing brisket and wings. I have tried a couple of other brisket places in Manhattan and this has to be the best of them. The brisket was moist and tender. Mac and cheese was great as well!

The moist brisket was out of this world! It was absolutely delicious and just fell apart with a fork. The onions and pickles was also awesome. The nachos with chili was so good as well. Cal was the friendliest and most upbeat waiter ever! The coke was a good coke.

Came to this spot for a staff outing and it was such a great choice. We started with the loaded nachos, which were so good! I had the baby kale salad and it was divine with nice chucks of chicken. The staff were really great & the happy hour was also good. Highly recommend!

Generous portion with fair price. Lively atmosphere with a bar down stairs. The ribs and brisket were delicious, chicken was sweet not so my taste and not a fan of the sausages.

We reserved a table at Hill Country BBQ to have a taste of the Texan style BBQ and we really enjoyed the whole experience!
We immediately got welcomed by staff that took us to our table, then the waiter suggested a few good choices and let us enjoy the rest of the evening while discretely checking in every now and then.
We decided to try the Pitmaster with a side of Mac&cheese and baked beans. The portions were plenty and the taste was really good! We can’t compare it to other Texan bbq venues being this one our first , but for us it was quite good. Everything was paired with a couple good beers and a delicious pecan pie to end on a sweet note.
In total we spent 66$ which is super honest especially considering the service and how good everything is (and NYC average prices..) .

I thought finding a good smokehouse and BBQ in midtown might be more difficult that it turned out to be. Thanks to a passing rain shower, and a detour on the way home, we discovered Hill Country Barbecue Market purely by chance. I immediately noted the responsiveness and attention from staff at the front entry that went behind typical NYC hosting. They were fun and friendly, and jumped in to help with wheelchair maneuvering and seating. I was happy to find a good variety of libations and we started with chips and salsa (hint: save some of the chips for baked beans). We loaded up on pulled pork and sides, though there's plenty of smoked meat to choose from. The pork was tender, hot, and savory, though I wasn't a fan of the 'hogwash' sauce that accompanied the tray. Honestly, the pork was delicious on its own with a few crisp ends, and had been shredded nicely with fat trimmed out. On the side, I loved the cucumber salad with a sweet vinegar and shallot dressing. The baked beans proved a perfect complement to the pork -- and the burnt end morsels mixed in with the beans were a nice surprise. Don't skip the cornbread or macaroni and cheese.

Fantastic service. We tried the chicken, wings, clod, brisket, ribs and sausage between us. The pickle the comes with it is spot on. I've been to the one in DC but this place is better. About $50pp with a drink or two. Closeslaw was so so, a bit watery. The cucumber salad was similar to the pickle side.

It’s the best Texas BBQ spot. I absolutely love this place. There is a good atmosphere, friendly staff and great meal. We ordered pork ribs, beef brisket and French fries which were very delicious. As for dessert we ordered banana pudding, it’s excellent. They have the best drink that we hadn’t found for a while it’s called Michelada. The price is reasonable. Highly recommend!
