I went to this restaurant because I've heard about it and it felt special to go to a museum for dinner. The occasion was saying goodbye to a friend who was moving away. The service was great, and our waiter was super kind. The appetizer we got was splendid! Best food I had in a while, but the main plate (chicken) was kinda ok. No needed a dress code... try the peach desert! Best one I had!

The burger is a good deal. The flounder was extremely small for the price and felt like it was re-warmed and over-cooked. I found aluminum foil in it. The vegetables weren't great either but I was hungry. I expected more considering the burger was $12 cheaper and twice as big.

Wonderful celebratory dinner in this iconic dining room at the Met. Fabulous sunset view. Attentive and kind staff. Wonderful food. We were a party of nine and everyone loved their dishes from appetizers, mains, to shared desserts. I highly recommend the Met Dining room for any occasion. Such fun to be in the museum at closing time too! Enjoy!

We debated eating in the cafeteria on the 1st floor but were so glad we went to the dining room instead! The views of Central Park were lovely and we loved our meal from The cauliflower soup to the seasonal cocktail (an autumnal take on the espresso martini with Marsala syrup—it was incredible). The best part was Michael, though. What a hilarious, engaging server! He made our visit so memorable. Thank you to the whole staff for such a wonderful meal!

After touring the museum, it was delightful to have lunch in the 4th floor dining area. We were fortunate to get a table by the window overlooking Central Park, and enjoyed a magnificent wine and refreshing cocktail. The menu was farm to table with excellent options, even a prix fixe tasting menu and wine pairing. We opted to share an entree as our appetizer (mushroom lasagna). And had crab cakes with warmed coleslaw and swordfish with blue scalloped potatoes and broccoli rabe. Everything was outstanding. Amazing flavors, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Although we were full, we also ate dessert - key lime and a pistachio cake with ice cream. Again - phenomenal. I am so happy to have recommended this spot for lunch. We will definitely return on a future visit. Even the American coffee was perfect.

Reading the reviews, I see that The Dining Room was probably under different management and chef. I have a membership at the MET and couldn't book my usual reservation at The Balcony Lounge because they have kitchen renovations. So I booked a table at The Dining Room. The Dining Room is opened to members and non-members. We had food intolerances in my party. I mentioned these intolerances when I booked our table. The host was very well aware upon our arrival. The waiter was very aware of what was safe to eat without cross contamination. You have choices! They are extremely good with people who have Celiac Disease. The chicken breast with potato and corn was exquisite. It wasn't dry and the herbs levitated certain notes for my palette. The burger had a thick patty and the fries were cut fresh by the kitchen. It's not frozen fries. The food did take quite a while to get there. Patrons need to realize that this is not your average museum food. I think the chef has been trained in French cuisine from the way my chicken breast had the drumette bone still intact. The ice cream was exquisite, one of the scoops had strawberry basil. Kudos to the pastry chef! As for the price point, this is at the Met in Manhattan. My chicken dish was 27 dollars which I find fairly priced for the area, experience and good cuisine that isn't drenched in butter and salt. Their cappuccino was only for 5 dollars. I don't see anyone paying less at Starbucks. At least I get to drink my coffee in a porcelain cup. I advise anyone to give The Dining Room a try. I will certainly be going back there.

After a busy day wandering around in this amazing museum for about 4 hours, we had a 5:15 pm dinner reservation at the restaurant made on OpenTable. It was a nice calming respite from the craziness downstairs. Our table by the window overlooking the Central Park Obelisk was perfect. The hostesses were warm and friendly, the food was wonderful and the service EXCELLENT. Our waitress Nicole was a superstar! The support staff was also incredibly attentive. Each of us completely enjoyed the dishes that we ordered which were all very well prepared and expertly presented. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this fine establishment with a nice atmosphere and great food.

The wine pairings and seasonal prix fixe is decently tasty, though the scallop tartar and chocolate ganache and raspberry dessert are amazing. Portions are decent, though the duck and rice main is arguably nothing special, though well-cooked. Cocktails are excellent. Our seven year old, however, was absolutely delighted with the place. Would go again for this alone. Excellent service.

Two of us opted for lovely 4-course meal at lunch (2 options: curated based on an exhibit, or seasonal); one of us opted for a la cart. Attentive service, can have an actual conversation, and there was no rush. Food was excellent. Expect prices to be high, but view and museum experience makes it a no-brainer.
