Review Marta - New York City

Pizzas with very thin crust, made in a real fire ovens... very nice. During happy hours 3-6 PM about half price = almost free compared to the quality. The pizza ovens give taste but also nice athmosphere. Service kind and smiling.

Really sad this location closed! I’m so hoping they open somewhere else. We sat outside and got the pesto pizza, arugula salad, and the potato starter. The highlight were 1000% the potatoes. So good. We both said we should’ve ordered two. We also got espresso martinis that were delicious.

The Martha Washington Hotel, originally opened in 1903, is a notable landmark in New York City's rich history. Designed by Robert W. Gibson in the Renaissance Revival style for the Women's Hotel Company, the hotel was a pioneering establishment exclusively for women, a rarity at the time. This 13-story structure was one of the first of its kind to cater specifically to professional women, serving this unique clientele until 1998 when it transitioned to a regular hotel. Located in Midtown Manhattan, the hotel provided affordable lodging with rooms ranging from $3 to $17 per week and offered amenities like a drug store, tailor shop, and manicurist. Reflecting the progressive spirit of the early 20th century, the hotel helped accommodate the growing number of women seeking professional opportunities in New York City. The strict policy of no male guests underscored its commitment to providing a safe and exclusive space for its female guests. Over the years, the hotel has undergone several name changes and transformations. After its stint as the Martha Washington Hotel, it was renamed Hotel Thirty Thirty in 2003, Hotel Lola in 2011, and later King & Grove New York in 2012. Despite these changes, the building's historical significance remains, highlighted by its designation as a New York City landmark. The Martha Washington Hotel's legacy is a testament to the evolving role of women in society and the urban landscape of New York City, marking a significant chapter in the city's history of accommodating diverse social changes and needs.

Gorgeous atmosphere! Service is a bit slow (Thursday 12:30pm). Pizza and nonalcohol tastes great. The whole place looks like a hotel of some kind and the interior design is very interesting (especially the path to the restroom). 多维度的口味让人眼泪呼之欲出。 PIZZA THE BUTCHER: Soppressata, Guanciale, Pork Sausage, Mozzarella, Grana Padano NON-ALCOHOLIC MANDORLORIAN: Amaretti, Lavendar, Grapefruit, Egg White As someone else mentioned - might be too oily for thin crust pizza because of many greasy ingredients on top at once. But I liked the salty taste - especially works well with that Mandorlorian drink😆

Marta is an Italian-Pizza restaurant that’s both elegant yet casual offering a great interior dining environment that is perfect for lunches and dinners! It’s also a great venue for private parties and weddings! We attended a wedding and reception that offered fantastic pizzas that were made in unusually designed wood burning pizza ovens that’s part of their open kitchen. Marta on of Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group of restaurants so you are guaranteed a fantastic culinary experience.

We were craving some good pizza and wine, so we decided to check out Marta, which was conveniently located down the street from our hotel. We were thrilled with our decision as we were not disappointed! The restaurant boasted an extensive wine list with numerous options to choose from, and the pizza was simply delicious. The open kitchen allowed us to watch the pizza being made, which added to the overall experience. We visited for lunch and were pleased to find plenty of seating available. We ordered the Margherita pizza, which we always enjoy, and it did not disappoint. In addition, we ordered The Butcher, which was both tasty and filling, making it the perfect combination for our appetite. Overall, we highly recommend Marta for anyone in search of delicious pizza and an excellent wine selection.

A hidden Gem, Food menu, Drinks, happy hour! Great location, amazing staff, gorgeous ambiance. Every visit is better than the last. I tried the Margharita Pizza: thin crust, baked to perfection. The garlic puffs/knots were amazing. My company loved the shrimps and steak. The drinks were delicious and rich with flavors. I had the margarita and the amaretto sour, a very unique twist on a classic. Can't wait to go back.

Whenever I come to NY, I make an effort to come to Marta. It’s located inside a hotel and would be difficult to locate if not for the fun sidewalk signs. The pizza is fantastic- wood fired, thin crust, good quality cheeses, aromatic basil, and sweet mozzarella cheese. There’s table service and there’s bar seating and there’s pizza counter seating- my fave- where you sit by the two brick ovens. The service is always amazing and friendly and fast. Shoutout to Julian- my server this time- he was so sweet, and even topped off my water and got a new napkin for me for dessert. I love the butcher pizza and the margarita. I’ve had a bit of the truffle pizza but it’s too rich for my taste (but if you’re into truffle, it’s worth the splurge… I’d recommend splitting it among friends for a slice per person. Ambiance is warm and cozy- despite being two levels and in a large restaurant. If you want to feel like you’ve escaped NY for a meal, you’ve gotta stop here!

Nice environment. Pizza was not bad. Good beer recommendation. They served an over salted pizza but changed a new one right after our feedback. Very kind and sincere service. Good pizza spot in the city. Sadly they didn’t have tiramisu.

Nice to be back. Great staff make everyone feel welcome and love to share their tips on ordering and cocktail/aperitivo pairings. Delicious light pizzas, Grilled mushrooms, baby artichoke, and carrots. Fish special was a whole branzino, so good. We were surprised to see the yummy charcuterie boards gone. Also, the fabulous brunch menu has been replaced by standard (salads, sandwiches, pizzas) fare. But always good.. A real crowd pleaser.

Fun lively restaurant with great food and excellent friendly service. Pizza is thin crust and perfectly charred. Mushrooms were woodsy and perfectly cooked. Pancetta was great good and loved the greens as a break to the heavy meat. Overall great place and will definitely return.

The food and service were fantastic. We loved the thin crust Roman-style pizza, caesar salad and meatballs. Wine selection was great and the unique Sangiovese a perfect bottle to complement the meal. The ambiance, or lack thereof, was the only negative. A kind of soulless space with no vibe of any kind- the only saving grace being the open kitchen adding some energy to the space. Otherwise phenomenal service and dinner.

Enjoyed the daily happy hour. Perfectly thin crust. Loved the Straciatella Pizza. For reduced prices “pizza hour” you should visit between 3pm-6pm.

This is definitely in my top 5 pizza places in New York. Margarita and Funghi are a must try. The parmesan on the garlic knot was so fresh, I'd highly recommend ordering that. Affigato was delicious too.

Cozy little spot. Great happy hour menu. Every day from 3 PM to 6 PM. Half price pizzas. My girlfriend and I ended up getting the butcher pizza and the marinara pizza. They were fantastic. I drank a superhero sidekick IPA and my girlfriend had the espresso martini and a glass of the Prosecco. She enjoyed both of them. Sean the bartender was very accommodating and knowledgeable. Can’t wait to come back.

What a lovely evening. Or server was very patient, sweet and so helpful with all of our questions. The menu is pricy but the food is delicious. We had the roast pork (serves 2) which was very tasty and tender. It had quite a bit of fat on it but was so good. The creamy potatoes were perfectly roasted and the sauce delicious. The sauce was on the saltier side but complemented the pork and potatoes so well. The pizza was perfectly thin crust and a favorite of the night. We also enjoyed some wonderful cocktails. Would love to go back another time for pizza and cocktails.

good pizza and would go again, but wouldn't rush back - Margherita with added mushrooms: the best we ordered and got an extra pie - Starciatella: worth trying - Tartufo Nero: huge disappointment. the problem was for the price $58, it didn't wow us and you really couldn't taste truffle. would pass - Garlic "nots": pretty darn good. fried pizza dough with red sauce to dip - Gamberi: average. 3 shrimp per order - Caesar: pretty good

The food was amazing. We had the branzino, margarita pizza with onion, a unique take on a ceasar salad, the crispy potatoes, and for dessert another interesting variation of a tiramisu that was so good. The space and the hotel that it's in is very well done. Mar 2023 another visit, more great food, wine and pizza.

We chose this place almost randomly while walking off 5th Avenue. It turned out to be an exceptional experience. We sat at the pizza bar where you could watch the chef and his crew at work with the wood ovens. The food and drinks were superb. Definitely recommended.
