Great breakfast
Another colossal American breakfast.
My two other diners had steak and eggs for breakfast! For an Englishman usually used to a couple of pieces of toast this seemed an awful lot of food. But i confess it looked nice. I had a more modest - but still cooked and large - breakfast.
Service great and food equally as good.
Was no need to eat until the evening.
I went to Benjamin Steakhouse for my birthday this year and everything about the experience was fantastic. The staff was so pleasant and helpful with the menu, they really knew a lot about the cuts of meat. The menu was impressive, it had a lot of options so everyone in my group was happy. I ordered an 8oz tenderloin with mashed potatoes. It was definitely a full meal. The steak was tender and cooked just how I ordered it (medium-rare). I would definitely order this again. I also loved the ambiance of the restaurant it was warm and inviting, just how you would expect a steakhouse to be. I also highly recommend the dessert I had a scoop of ice cream and it was delicious, the perfect way to end the meal. Highly recommend this place.
We came here for birthday dinner. This place has a nice elegant look to it, perfect for an intimate dinner. We had the baked clams and the crab cake to start. This place has the best baked clams I've ever had. They were fresh and the bread crumbs used on top were perfect. The crab cake was also fresh and it was delicious. I had the filet mignon cooked medium. Perfectly cooked, extremely tender. It was delicious. The service was great. I've been here in the past n just like the time I came to visit the service and the food was great. I will definitely come back here!

About a decade ago, Chef Arturo McLeod and Benjamin Prelvukaj, took a combined 30 years of experience at Peter Luger’s to launch Benjamin Steak House. Located a block away from Grand Central at the Dylan Hotel, Benjamin’s is housed in a spectacular 5,000-square-foot, bi-level space which is constantly packed with patrons.
Juicy steak indeed!
Benjamin Steakhouse is a cozy place for steak lovers. I love the food and really enjoy the ambience.
I tried the porter steak for two and I gotta say that it was enough for the three of us as it was huge. So is the rib eye. I wanted to try the soup but I got a feeling I won't be able to finish them all :). But I made the right decision to order the blue wedge salad with crumbled blue cheese dressing. Love it!
So, highly recommended to those enjoying the good old steak of a prime meat selection.
As good as it gets!. I'm from Chicago, which has its fair share of great steakhouses, and it doesn't get any better than Benjamin's. The steaks are wonderful, as you'd expect. What makes this place special for me is the service and atmosphere.
I've been fortunate to have Ricky as my server each time I've dined there. It now feels like a family reunion every time I go! Service is attentitive without being overbearing or rushed. I also suggest you follow your server's recommendations. I haven't been steered wrong yet whether it's a suggestion for a glass of wine or which steak to order.
The atmosphere would best be described as "clubby". Warm with wood paneling, high ceilings, a fireplace. I always feel very comfortable there.
New York City has many fine steakhouses but you won't find one better than Benjamin Steakhouse.
Perfect Birthday Dinner for Both My Daughters. I have been to New York two times in the past 3 years to celebrate each of my daughter's 10th birthday. Benjamin's made both events VERY special. They were so accomodating when we were late one time due to the bus coming in 2 hours late. Usually a second time to a restaurant is not as good. But this is NOT the case. Three years later -- the same excellent service and food. They have so many people taking care of you -- you do not mind spending the money. Make sure you try the steak sauce!!! We brought some home with us this time.
Steak Heaven. In town from Memphis, it was a bucket list thing for me to get a NY strip in NYC. My friend suggested his favorite place, Benjamin's. We made our way there late night, after an entire day of sight-seeing. It was a perfect decision and we were taken care of very well by the amazing staff at the bar. We started with the Canadian bacon and a bottle of an amazing cab. Both settled on NY strips, medium-rare, Pittsburgh style. Absolutely incredible steak, cooked perfectly with a nice, crispy exterior. I enjoyed the fact that they cut the steak for us and served us individual pieces as they inspected each piece for perfection. We finished the meal with a few pieces of cheesecake that included a glass of porter that went amazing with the dessert. My bucket list is shorter now because Benjamin's delivered!
Great steak. I started off with oysters. Very nice. I had the ribeye steak. Absolutely wonderful served rare just as I ordered. With the sides of potato and asparagus, there was no room for dessert.
Ricky was an outstanding server. Exceptionally knowledgable about the menu. Very attentive and pleasant. My husband thought his steak was good - rib eye. Benjamin Salad was outstanding as was my Sea Bass. The Pecan Pie was excellent. Overall a great meal. Would certainly recommend.
Steak Heaven. Benjamin Steakhouse is an incredible experience. The high ceiling, the detailing in the architecture, and the dim lighting all add to the ambiance of the room. We sat downstairs near the fireplace, where Ricky took care of us. I knew going in to order bacon slices, and I have a love for crab cakes so those were immediately ordered as well. They came out quickly, and were delicious. One of the gentleman at the table wasn't crazy for the bacon, one of his pieces was slightly gristly. The crab cakes were 95% crab, no cheap filler or breading. We ordered steak for 3 Medium Rare (despite having 4 at the table), creamed spinach, mushrooms, and a baked potato.
Once the entree arrived the dining experience became extraordinary. Ricky served everyone a few slices of the porterhouse. He demonstrated that the steak was so incredibly tender by their dry aging process, that he could cut through the thick steak slice with nothing but a spoon. As we ate, Ricky kept adding additional slices of the porterhouse to our plates. Although he had at least 3 other tables, I felt as though he was always available when needed. The stand out side was the creamed spinach, I definitely recommend it.
In comparison to a other well established steakhouses in the area, I give Benjamin the highest regard. They provide the taste and flavors of Peter Lugers, but blow them out of the water when it comes to service and atmosphere. The steak is beyond amazing, and I highly recommend Benjamin Steakhouse to anyone!
This was my second visit to Benjamin. Both visits were with clients from Vienna who wanted a good steak. The atmosphere is warm but not too loud. Sit downstairs if possible. Host and waitstaff were very attentive. I will be back!
Excellent Service. The concierge recommended Benjamin's to me; I love steak. Even though I had reservations, I had to wait at the bar. We had the steak for two, porter house. It was a bit over done but tasty. Regardless of this, I was treated like a queen. The manager, Victor, was attentive while I waited, and my waiter was entertaining and also very attentive. He made us laugh and forget ourselves. His name is Richard I believe, he wore glasses. Great guy, knows his stuff. The ambience was great, very lively. If you're in midtown NYC, I definitley recommend Benjamin's.
Very good steak.. Cooked perfectly. Juicy, flavorful, seared and tender.
Best steaks in New York City period! And by far the best service we have ever had anywhere in New York. Wait staff was not only personable but extremely knowledgable and helpful. Left 20% tip and feel like I should have left more.
If you like Lugers you will love the Benjamin!. We loved the Benjamim Steakhouse. The service and the food were fantastic! We will definitely be returning on our next trip to NYC. We usually go to Peter Lugers, but we tried the Benjamin and were happily surprised. The menu is very similar but with more options. I still like the atmosphere of Peter Luger's better, but the Benjamin was very nice.
Staff was extremely friendly, courteous, and attentive!
Great NY Steakhouse. I love steakhouses, but the service tends to be a bit gruff. This was not the case with Benjamin's. Servers were very friendly and attentive, steaks were perfectly grilled and absolutely delicious, and the space itself is very impressive. It's definitely my new favorite in NY.
Worth a splurge!. We were looking for a real new york steak house and the hotel concierge at the Roosevelt recomended Benjamins.
we werent dissapointed food and service were superb!
athmosphere was great.
meal for 2 was almost $300 including drinks, wine and service, pricey but worth the splurge!
Only negative was waiter didn't know where lobster was from AND was annoyed we asked. It seemed like the attitude was "we're too good to be asked". Otherwise, OK .
Easy 5/5 steak.. perfectly cooked, insane crust. Had both the sirloin and the ribeye but the ribeye was miles better.
The benjamin house fries were good but too salty too eat too many..
The only downside was the service: the waiters seemed super bored and barely talked to us..
Also, had the lobster bisque which was out of this world!
And lastly, but not last, the cheesecake was delicious :)
I came to Benjamin Steakhouse with a friend several years ago and had the porterhouse, which was delicious. So I was excited to come here again this weekend during Restaurant Week for dinner, to celebrate a friend's birthday.
The atmosphere was lovely, starting from the entrance, with walls filled with photos of celebrities who have visited, to the beautiful dining room, with high ceilings and elegant decor.
Their Restaurant Week menu has a wide variety of options to choose from, which was one of the reasons why we'd selected this place.
I ordered:
- Appetizer: Imported Buffalo Mozzarella with beefsteak tomatoes, basil and balsamic reduction
- Entree: New York Sirloin
- Side: Mashed Potatoes
- Dessert: NY Cheesecake + Tea
The appetizer was fresh and delightful, and a generous portion, too.
The steak was flavorful, although a bit too salty.
The mashed potatoes were way too salty, which was quite disappointing. I'd never had such salty mashed potatoes. My friends ordered the Creamless Creamed Spinach, which was the complete opposite, being quite bland, but a much healthier option.
The NY Cheesecake was not dense, like a typical NY cheesecake, which I was expecting. To the contrary, it was light and airy, which I quite enjoyed, especially at the end of a full meal. I also appreciated that it came with coffee or tea.
Based on my previous experience, I'd had higher expectations of the food overall. The service, however, was wonderful.
Since it was our friend's birthday, the server arranged to have a birthday candle and message on our friend's dessert plate. And they sang happy birthday, with multiple servers chiming in.
The service throughout our meal was attentive and the staff in general were quite pleasant.
I hope the saltiness was just a one-off, because I would love to come back again with family and friends.
Great interior with phenomenal wood work and detailed in the architecture. Benjamin's is warm and inviting with a well informed staff. The beef was good by NY standards. I'm from Houston so we're a bit spoiled when it comes to fine steakhouses. The bar is pretty high but Benjamin's fared well and much better than a highly rated steakhouse near Times Square. Great bourbon selection if you appreciate the good stuff.
We visited on a week night and the restaurant was very busy, we had to wait for a bit even with reservations. Vibrant and family/ group dinner atmostphere which means it can be quite loud to hear each other sometimes. Very attentive staff. My medium rare rib eye steak was huge, buttery soft and juicy - I love it! The portion is huge and you pay accordingly for all of the above but I find that worthy.
I must say Americans do know how to cook a mean steak. I had the Rib eye steak - medium rare, it was done to perfection! Had the steak fries and creamy spinach as my side dishes (too busy eating till i forgot to take a snap shot of the side dishes).
One advice - make sure you come with a big appetite...the steak portion was huge, I was struggling towards the end. But it was definitely a meal to remember.
Low-light, high end, dimly lit restaurant. Staff was nice, but out order took so long (like I know I ordered my steak well-done, but I don’t want it burnt). Overall, had a great meal!
Great Steak, Great Service, a special place to have lunch! the bill can rack up easy with good beers & wines aplenty, good whisky menu too! The boy Jayden couldn’t get enough of the french fries and the ice cream was perfect.
My only quibble would be the beautifully cooked broccoli could’ve done with a touch of garlic and the steak had just a little too much salt…. small quibbles!
This place is hands down one of the best steakhouses. Every time we go, the food is just amazing. We had some porterhouses and a tomahawk, all cooked perfectly medium rare. The taste and texture were better than we could've hoped for. And don't get me started on the appetizers – lobster Mac and cheese, mushrooms, asparagus, peppers, clams, shrimp – they were all delicious.
I like the Chilean sea bass. Crab cake is good not great. King crab leg is great and portion is large. Cozy environment. Friendly service. Just spinach is not USDA certified organic
Celebrating my birthday at this restaurant was an absolute delight on Monday night, the second-floor setting offered a cozy and intimate atmosphere, allowing me, my son and my husband to enjoy a wonderful evening together. Henry’s service was the highlight of our dining experience, making us feel truly special on this celebratory occasion.
I left not only with a satisfied palate but also with a heartwarming experience that turned my birthday celebration into a cherished memory. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially for those looking to combine delicious food with outstanding service.
Came here on recommendation for my Moms bday. Had the Ribeye, Salmon and Mashed potatoes. Cremè Brulee compliments of them. 5 Stars id def reccomend.
The minute I walked in, the manager introduced himself, and asked if we need anything. He came to a bar to check on us at least 2 times, making us feel like VIP guests. Good food, friendly and professional staff!
Benjamin Steakhouse is wonderful. A well-appointed space with attentive waiters and great steaks. My filet was huge and perfectly rare. Asparagus was also large and perfectly sauteed. Dessert was pecan pie...narely blackened under the broiler with ice cream and whipped cream. The wine list is extensive. A marvelous meal that is priced accordingly.
Benjamin Steakhouse is the quintessential NYC steakhouse with an extensive wine list, excellent steak, and great martinis. High ceilings with a few tables on a second floor overlooking the main dining hall, this is the place to go if you're entertaining clients or going out with executives. The vibe is more corporate as opposed to a date night.
The appetizers came out quickly, divided, and then served to each person at the table. Think family style where they make your plate for you. The slab of bacon was thick and delicious. The shrimp were big and tasty. The Benjamin salad is a great starter, topped with crab meet.
The steak for two was enough for 3 and perfectly cooked. The mushrooms and broccoli were light sides but the Benjamin potatoes were average. Capped off with an espresso martini and a complimentary glass of port; very nice touch. Benjamin doesn't disappoint, definitely a staple when I'm looking for a great steak and martini.

Amazing food, great presentation, nice ambience, friendly service, ample seating and very generous servings. Very strongly recommend. Loved it so much I visited it again within a week.
While the namesake steaks are splendid, we were completely blown away by there fried calamari with Marinara sauce and the desserts of NY cheesecake and chocolate mousse cake. They also have a nice bar.
The restaurant is frequented by celebrities and some politicians, so you may spot one during a visit.
This is the best steak I have eaten so far
, when you order, tell the waiter your favorite type of steak and he will choose the appropriate one for you. Then enjoy the taste!
I have to say they went above and beyond today with service and quality. Thank you to all the staff !
Food was spectacular. The crust on the steak? Unreal. So good! Only reason why it lost a star was the service wasn’t as attentive as it could have been. We were an early slot so it wasn’t as busy yet. Servers were congregating and chatting and missed opportunities to check in and also forgot a drink order. Being a little bit picky maybe but at this price point these are the details that matter. Just constructive feedback - I still recommend this place 100%!! Will definitely be back.

Really impressed by the vibes, high ceiling, decorated in a classic steakhouse styles. We came here for the restaurant week deals $59 per pax (including tax + tip) less than $80.
We got appetizers, fried calamari was really crispy from the outside but soft inside. Imported buffalo mozzarella was really refreshing.
For the entree, we got New York Sirloin and grilled salmon, both are cooked perfectly as you ordered.
Sides we selected Benjamin house fried and creamy spinach, I love the fried while thinking that spinach is too salty.
We also got desserts for this deal, we selected chocolate mousse and new york cheesecake, both are on point.
For this price, I gave it 5 star review.
