This is always a nice place to dine. Prices are reasonable and food is amazing. I believe they have the best lasagna in town. Vittorio and his staff are great! We get our front table to watch the passers by and see the charm and creativeness of the W. Village! The patio is quaint as well. After dinner, the jazz club downstairs is worth the visit. If you are a regular, they appreciate you and remember you!
The staff is friendly the service is great and it's a very enjoyable time you will have. The owner always makes a point to stop by your table to make sure you're having a great time. There's also a wonderful club down stairs with live music. The place is a ten. You will alway have fun and impress you friends or that special someone in your life. It's amazing that the ownership put such a wonderful place together.
Perfect NYC experience.
The Lasagne Bolognese was delicious! And I would recommend ordering the bread chips, they just go perfectly with that dish. Wish we sat in the garden instead of the entrance but next time I will just ask can’t wait to visit this place again in the future.
The lasagna is to die for. This is one of my daughters and I favorite places in the City... casual, cozy and great service. Wine selection is not large but great wines-- the best Malbec at a great price. Less is more.
Food & Service was fantastic! The environment was quaint and spellbinding. The indoor/outdoor garden room looked like a slice of heaven and the live entertainment was on point.

Imagine a fantastic atmosphere, great food and affordable price. Mix it all and place it in a charming neighborhood. Love it! Highly recommend.
Love La Lanterna di Vittorio! Love the atmosphere, the excellent food and the friendly service! Great whether you are looking for dinner, stop in for a glass of wine and pizza or coffee and the wonderful desserts! This is our "must go to place" everytime we are in Manhattan. Love it!
Located just south of the south west corner of Washington Square Park. Definitely a must go to.
The food was delicious! I had the lasagna and it was incredible! The spiked coffee was A+! This restaurant has a lovely garden setting in the back with a great view.
My wife and I were visiting New York and came across this gem on the list of the 15 most romantic dining places in the city, and it definitely earned its endorsement. From the friendly staff to the amazingly fresh food it was evident that we were not just enjoying a night out but an experience. We are very much looking forward to coming back the next time we are in town. I highly recommend La Lanterna di Vittorio for a romantic Italian dining experience
Amusing live Jazz, dessert to die for, and a respect for great wine make La Lanterna an awesome place to go to.
I've been going to this location for a few years now always amazing for brunch or a glass of wine and live jazz at night with a prosciutto pizza
Great pizza, cozy ambience, crowded fridays but the food is awesome! Love the pizza.
Great food and great hosts! We had the four cheese Lasagne that was fabulous! Prosciutto pizza was some of the best we've had!

Such a wonderful restaurant. Great food and service.
Such a quaint setting. Highly recommend
My friend and I fancied some decent Italian and we certainly got that here. We shared grilled sardines and a salad followed by a lasagne and prawns in with pasta. The wine choice is good. We were in the covered back garden area. It was noisy although to be fair, there was a group of 16 year olds celebrating a 16th birthday.
There's something I need to put on the table at the onset - this place serves a variety of sherry! I've been on a global quest for a restaurant that serves a sherry selection & this is the first place I've come across with more than 3 sherries.
Now that I've got it out of the way, La Lanterna di Vittorio, is a good place to eat at Greenwich Village. It emanates a very Greenwich charm & is a very romantic dinner spot. And if romantic & charm are what you're looking for, I'd definitely suggest sitting in the garden area.
Regarding the food, we ordered a pizza. Being an Italian place we were expecting a thin crust small pizza, but it was actually quite thick & large. Just that was enough for 2 people. However I didn't feel it was all that great. I'm sure they have other items on the menu that are actually good, but the pizza wasn't one of them.
Most romantic restaurant in New York City.. In my opinion this is the most romantic restaurant that is also affordable in all of the 5 boros!
It is dimly lit with a beautiful warm fire place ,authentic Italian sodas, and hot drinks, authentic delicious Italian desserts, some Italian menu items cheese and fruit plates
intrusive service and unmatched ambiance. Also one of the few spaces left in NYC where you can actually experience the true flavor of the true NYC.
La Lanterna di Vittorio has been voted year after year the most romantic restaurant by Zagat
From their Facebook page -
From "Romantic New York" -“There are dozens, if not hundreds of Italian cafes in New York. With so many fabulous ones strewn throughout the city, it would be virtually impossible to choose the best. La Lanterna, however, is markedly different because of its very romantic appeal. Located on MacDougal Street just a hop, skip, and a jump from other noteworthy Italian cafes such as Cafe Reggio and Cafe Dante, La Lanterna's Greenwich Village neighborhood is almost a second Little Italy. La Lanterna consists of two dimly-lit levels decorated in a dozy fashion, and with its close proximity to the NYU Law School, there is something in this small cafe that stirs visions of an intellectual and scholarly past. During the cold New York winters, a fireplace is ablaze on the lower level, as couples romancing one another and students reading the likes of Nietzsche and Beckett can be seen sipping their espressos while attempting to thaw out. Because it is less visible than many neighboring cafes, at La Lanterna you can avoid the crowds that so often invade Greenwich Village while enjoying a private moment with your companion.”--Romantic New York
"With magical elements like an on-site waterfall and year-round seating in a lovely winter garden, La Lanterna di Vittorio is undoubtedly among the city’s most romantic dining destinations. If you’re hoping to ignite sparks after just one dinner alone, give this Greenwich Village gem a shot. and that is accurate"!
Pretty decor. Great service - the owner and the staff were so wonderful! Great ambiance in the back room. The Raspberry Martini is very yummy.
Great food, Great decor and ambiance, great drinks, and excellent professional service. Price is excellent for the food quality. Great date place!
Go for the pizza. The lamb sausage pizza was heavenly! The indoor "winter garden" was like a fairytale garden and makes for a romantic setting.
Great food. Really good live jazz. But if you freak out in confined spaces, skip it.
I wish I had gotten more / better photos, however we dined later in the evening and it was rather dark.
This was my favorite meal in NYC. The Cacio De Pepe lasagna was AMAZING. So flavorful and filling.
The pizza was great too. It's rather thin, which I like, and the sauce was very fresh tasting. Will definitely be back on my next visit.
Stopped in on thanksgiving and am so happy I did. I love the unique setting of the skylight with the big lamps and all the plants. The pizza was delicious and cooked very well, as was their appetizer bread. I had mulled wine, and my server was very attentive. Also, the restaurant has a very interesting history!
My wife and me had an incredible dining experience, The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the service was top-notch. We ordered a salad and Lasagne, and both dishes were really good. I'm sorry we didn't take the Pizza and the 4 different type of lasagne. To top it off, the Flan for dessert was a heavenly treat that left me craving for more. I highly recommend this restaurant for its delicious Italian cuisine and warm ambiance
Went there to celebrate my husband’s birthday as he is passionate about lasagna. We had their 8 flight lasagna tasting. To me, the vegetarian versions beat the meat & seafood ones but was the opposite for him. We started with bruschetta and ended with the ricotta cake and tiramisu. We topped our evening with a Riesling.
Our waiter seemed new but was knowledgeable and provided professional service. Their quaint vibe is also appealing.
I was amazed at how affordable and reasonable their prices were, especially with wine service. Highly recommend!!!!! Go before it gets too fancy and they double their prices.
The only con is the bathroom was so small and lacked ventilation. You can always smell was all the others accomplished in there before your arrival.
Carlos was our server and he was absolutely adorable, loving, welcoming and very informative! He has a great personality and we were so lucky to have him! Our first time in NYC and came here for dinner… Amazing Lasagna!!! Ashame we don’t live closer or would visit more often!! Merry Christmas Carlos and the family at La Lanterna do Vittorio
Great place with a beautiful patio and cozy atmosphere. It was a little bit loud inside in the midday hours on Sunday.
Lasagna Pancetta, Cavolfiore e Piselli and Pete's Banjo (Hot Spiced New York State Apple Cider with Bourbon) were really tasty 🤤
I can’t explain how amazing is this place the food delicious the service in all team it’s an incredible.
The lasagna and dessert delicious. Environment 💯
You won’t regret
This place is SO adorable! A hidden gem imo. The garden in the back is so cute and the menu is quite extensive! Got the lasagna flight and a lychee martini which was t too sweet which is what i prefer. The lasagna flight was really good and a good portion! Also reasonably priced for the area!
Came back after 7 years. Flights of lasagna were delicious and fun to experience. Service was very personal and helpful. The back enclosed garden is a great space.
If you live for lasagna, this place is definitely must try. Their other food is excellent too. Large selection of pizza and desserts, very friendly staff and atmosphere inside is comfy and inviting. Hidden gem
Excellent Italian food and definitely a worthy place to try.. we had lunch here and everyone loved the food.. pizza was amazing and so is lasagna.. service is very good and ambience is like small european place..
This place is the best. The atmosphere is second to none. The place is so much bigger on the inside, beautiful garden seating, downstairs seating with live Jazz on some days, or upstairs in the main room. Food is great with very reasonable pricing and the wine list is extensive. Very romantic and cozy. Real old New York charm.
Loved that they had many different kinds of lasagna, abs had a flight of 4 or 8 of them so you could try many at once. Great idea.
Nice atmosphere and good help provided a great experience.
Lovely place with an amazing stuff and delicious food. We had a great lunch with my mom, thank you! Definitely will be back
This spot was really good. I got the pesto lasagna and the arugula salad and both were bomb! I was really impressed with the salad. It was really good even though it looks like it won’t be super flavorful. The flavor of the salad was surprisingly nice. It was like $30 for the two items before tip.
Waitress was new -second day, but very attentive, polite and helpful. Made us feel right at home. The lasagna flight was amazing! We tried the vegetarian and regular flight and every single one was delish! The tiramisu was amazing! Small inside and very busy but food came quick! Would def go back! It’s also close to Washington Park which is very pretty at Christmas!
