A fabulous new poke bowl restaurant and bar with a modern hip design and excellent service. Food is fresh, flavorful and fast. Bar staff are fun and funny. Feels very local and true to New Smyrna Beach roots. Our family has lived here since 1948 and we all love Ricky's Canteen!

Nice little hole in the wall place! Good food and beyond excellent service. I tried one of the poke dishes, and being Hawaiian, I wouldn't really consider it poke. It was a good dish, but it did not have the poke flavor I grew up eating. My husband I enjoyed our for and drinks. Definitely try the vodka soda!

Delicious food and a friendly staff. They have sake on tap. I was apprehensive about sake that was not warm, but they reassured me it would be good. They were absolutely right, it is very tasty. They have a great selection of poke bowls and very fresh ingredients. I love the greens base. All of the specials I have tried have been phenomenal, everything has been so good! I think I may be addicted...

Fantastic place with a intimate atmosphere to make you feel you are at home with friends. I enjoyed grilled octopus on a skewer which was a wonderful portion. I also had a poke bowl and chose the add on of 'forbidden rice' which was cooked to perfection. Great beer choices, friendly service and more than filled my tummy!

Ricky's is a solid three star for a new restaurant, with definite room for improvement. The food was pretty good, but the menu and ordering cards were a bit confusing. Something about every dish we ordered (and there were many) was just a little off, but overall quite tasty. The biggest problem was that as soon as we entered the door, we were hit by some smoke and the smell emanating from the kitchen. They really need to get that in check quickly. I'll be giving Ricky a little while to settle in and will visit again sometime.

What a perfect way to spend a Sat afternoon. David, at the bar, was helpful and informative. His recommendations were spot on! Neat beer selection and unique menu items. Loved the bluesy music in the back-ground and kitchy decor. Can't wait to return!

So glad we found this wonderful chef. Have loved his food since Txochos in Winter Park, then visited the Spanish Grill. Poke bowls were delicious. Beer and wine list, top notch. Will be back . Wanted to update my review after visiting 3 more times since my first review. Have brought two groups with us and all our dishes were consistently delicious and fresh. I consistently get 40 miles out which is ahi tuna served atop veggies, black ( forbidden rice) both ways are sooo good with all the fresh toppings. My husband loves the bowl with sausage and chicken with a tasty sauce. He prefers the forbidden rice with this dish. One visit there was an appetizer selection of three small hot dogs each with different toppings. There were three of us so we each had one. Although they each had a different topping we all had the same reaction .. “ boy I wish I ordered my own so I could try all three.. yum!”

$9.50 for one can of beer? Nope, nope, nope!!! I was shocked when I got the bill. We may try this place again because the ambiance was cool and it was clean (brand new), but that price is insane! Edit: I was never offered a drink menu (or a food menu for that matter). Also, I’ve never ordered a beer that was that expensive without the bartender just giving me a “head’s up” about the price either. This review isn’t meant as an “attack”, just simply as a reminder that there is room for improvement. I’m bumping the review to 4 stars because the owner responded in less than 24 hours—so CLEARLY they care a lot about their customers and the business.
