Flames Pizza & Grill

My brother goes to school in New Paltz and always raves about this place. We decided to give it a shot on our weekend trip upstate and let me tell you this was way beyond my expectations. They served us our pizza and burgers fresh off the grill. The pizza crust was crisp and just perfect. I can’t stop thinking about it!

This place is amazing!!! Best pizzeria around, if you want authentic New York style pizza this is the place to go! I go multiple times a week and they always have new and amazing stuff to try. The staff are super nice too! The other night I was craving Nutella pizza and wasn't sure if they made it or not, but they did! Ate 2 slices in the car before I even got home lol. My family is obsessed with their Mac and cheese balls too. Also a plus that they're open late. Cant say enough about this place. Always excellent food and service!!

Many gave this place five or four stars reviews, but my experience was not one of a five star pizza joint. First the good, or what this place is doing right: they have a good selection of slices and a good menu, their interior is very nice, their location is great, and their pizza is tasty. Now for what didn't do it for me: I went here with my wife and we got two slices to split. They put the two slices in the oven for what seemed like 15 seconds, then served us up. I initially thought this was just fast service, but when I ate my pizza it was cold. They weren't particularly busy or short staffed, so why rush our slices? They need to work on this. Second, while the pizza was tasty, I felt the dough was a bit chewy and almost rubbery. I didn't even finish all my crust, which is unusual for me. So they have much room for improvement and they most certainly are not a five star pizza joint. My fellow New Yorkers need to have higher standards when it comes to pizza. Good does not equal great and this place was just good.

I've yet to try Flames since they opened so I called a few minutes after 10 tonight to see if they had a credit card minimum and the gentleman on the phone said they didn't but had already closed at 10 (summer hours). He was quick to mention they could probably accommodate an easy order so I asked for a slice to go and I'd be there in a few. I walked in and the pizza was piping hot on the counter but had fallen apart a bit oven-to-plate so they had just put in a fresh slice. I told them I'd take it anyway so they could close up and they insisted on making sure I had the best of the best. I've tried every pizza joint in NP and this place far surpasses all on flavor, freshness & customer appreciation. Top notch customer service. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
