Salsa Fresca

We wanted to try something near the campus of Yale, this was one of the top recommend food places via google. The staff was extremely friendly but the food was subpar. We ordered Mexicali Blue burrito. Both my wife and I commented on how dry it was. The portions were really good as we both walked away feeing well fed. The chips and salsa were nothing to brag about it either. The only redeeming quality was the drink flavors. We both loved the creamy red birch beer.

This really used to be my family’s quick go to restaurant twice a week before and during the pandemic. However in past 6-8 months there customer service has declined. They have new employees who are not friendly at all. Our family has had to stop going so frequent due to the rude service and new tiny portions. We used to be able to eat there and feel satisfied now it’s only snack sized serving. First time that this happened I told them and they added additional charges for extra meat which when added just made it the original size I was accustomed to receiving. So today we ordered, mine you it’s four of us so we have to add $3.50 to each item just for it to be what we always receive up until 6-8 months ago. Today we had to pay the additional up charge but our food still only had half of the meat we used to receive. I’m guessing we will have to get 2 additional servings per item for it to be like the original items we are accustomed to getting in the past. That’s a $7 up charge each item. This is unacceptable…. Our bill was over $60 for 4 items and it still was no where near the correct portion size. I guess this place will just be a memory for my family. Never again!!! Bit size portions. We are still hungry…

I love salsa Fresca as a whole hence the 2 stars but the new haven location just sucks. They always give smaller portions than the other locations but today my bowl was severely under filled. The rice didn’t even cover the bottom of the bowl. I would suggest going to another location like Danbury because the bowl I got was no where near worth 10 dollars.

If I could give zero stars I would! I ordered 2 burito bowls from them to be delivered and all I received was a bag of chips and salsa!!! When I called they said that they were still waiting for the driver. After I informed them that the driver had already been there and delivered to me the chips and salsa they told me I could come and pick it up. I'm at work! I ordered delivery for a reason! $28 dollar chips and salsa... and I'm still hungry!

I ordered a chicken bowl today and a soda for delivery through grubhub. They never gave the delivery guy my soda and the bowl was gross. No flavor. All the sauces and salsa on there and it was so bland. The worst thing is the chicken was definitely old because it was hard. Just disgusting. Very disappointed.
