Great family place for ice cream. We came to visit and we expected each of us to buy a scoop but one scoop was enough for us three. Portions are huge. The mint chip ice cream had plenty of chips and the flavor was balanced. Not very sugary but just right. The line might seem long but it goes by very quick so dont be discouraged to wait 5mins. The only bad thing is that they didnt have the coffee flavor. I really wish they did. They also ran out of other flavors but I guess its what happens when ice cream is fresh and its a well known site.

Heard that Arethusa Farm Dairy had some really good ice cream and the rumors were true. A short walk away from Louis' Lunch it was the perfect way to end a meal. There wasn't anyone else here when we went around 2 pm in the afternoon and we got to look around a bit. The shop is kept quite clean and tidy. The staff was friendly. It had a waffle cone with a scoop that was half mint chocolate chip and half sweet cream with dark chocolate chunks. The ice cream itself was incredibly smooth and delicious, the chocolate inside perfect for the moutfeel. Overall great ice cream place!

I may like the West Hartford location better as it is closer and more convenient but if I'm I New Haven....I'll still go to Arethusa to have that creamy tasty ice cream melt in my mouth even if the weather is below freezing. The ice cream tastes the same at both locations and it is one of the best ice creams I have ever eaten. Their coffee and pistachio flavors are to die for, and only coffee was available. Though they don't put pistachio in the seasonal sections on their website, pistachio is seasonal......as i have seen pistachio ice-cream served only in the summer. Coffee has a rich creamy flavor and the pistachio is nutty yet creamy. I don't see any artificial flavors in their ice cream.

My niece brought some home for a family get together and I gave the coconut with chocolate chunks a try. Fantastic! I was content with that until I’d be told to try to chocolate. I gave the chocolate a few bites. This is the best chocolate ice cream I’ve ever had in my entire life. Rich, creamy, it’s almost like it’s the full taste of chocolate and I’ve been eating it at volume 6 all these years. I decided to try the mint chip ice cream because there is no way they could get every flavor perfect. They did. I’m not sure who’s creating this ice cream but God gives us all something to offer and many never find their calling. This person has! I wish they sold this closer to me and am trying to find an excuse to drive up to Litchfield. Just wanted to share my thoughts as I have family that stops down from New Haven occasionally. They will get a list next time they’re coming for a visit. Great work, guys!

I love that the ice cream here has natural mix-ins (ex. strawberries, coconut flakes, almond pieces, chocolate chunks) rather than artificial flavors. The price is a bit steep, but fair given the huge amount of ice cream you get in "one scoop." It's so worth it!

The ice cream tasted great! Reminds me of UCONN dairy bar, just many less flavors. Got mint chip and sweet cream chocolate chunk. Both were great. Scoop sizes are enormous

I went in without having looked them up before, and informed the server behind the counter about my celiac and if they had gluten free options. They did have gluten free options, almost all the icecream they were serving that day were gf, she said she could serve me safely. I wanted to know their cross-contact protocol and she got really rude/angry at me, almost yelling that she knew how to serve me as they have good allergen protocols and also serve people with severe nut allergy. So I kind of felt bullied into ordering without knowing what she was going to do, but decide to go for it as I could always give it away. They do have a good allergen protocol. Switched gloves, grabbed a new clean scoop, new container with ice cream that had not yet been touched. Also scoops were hugeeeeeee. I felt assured it was safe for me to eat and I didn’t feel sick. Chocolate flavor was yummy. Just too bad that they got so rude while I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to get sick.
