Gates Restaurant & Bar

This is a great place. We went for dinner and LOVED IT! It is great for kids, and our server and the staff were so kind to go out of the way for me to put on the Masters from their TVs. The food was amazing, with a little peace symbol charred into my bun. And the dessert was excellent. Ice cream and cotton candy, WOO! This restaurant is amazing and you should definitely visit.

I have been going to Gates since I can remember. I have lived in New Canaan since 1977. Unfortunately tonight was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. The service was absolutely horrendous From the moment I walked in. Unfriendly host, requested bar seating was ushered to the main dining room. Took 45 minutes to get drinks once they were ordered. Then took an additional hour to receive entrées. I had to get up and physically get my own ketchup from the kitchen area as well as request a box to take my leftovers home. On top of that, Gates advertises that they have live music starting 9pm. The music started at 8:20. For a person that has sensitive hearing and hearing aids, that was completely unacceptable. I never write bad reviews but I had to write this one. How unfortunate. I’m afraid I will not be returning.

My wife and I went there on a Sunday for lunch, she had some chicken Thai dish and I had a breakfast Sammie both of each were very good,. however the service sucked, I asked the server for ketchup, never happened, she never checked back to see if we wanted more coffee, and I never received the bacon I ordered although that might have been the kitchens fault, what could have been a nice meal was ruined, never going back.
