I would like to start by saying that the food is hands down, quality. The sauces have that subtle but impactful, memorable taste that you look for in Indian food. The customer service was professional and did not make you feel out of place. I am familiar with herbs and spices as I do a lot of cooking myself, but I can’t properly speak on authenticity. I will say that many authentic spices and processes are used that ensure that your meat is nice and tender, that your lassi taste like it should with that bitter sweet yogurt sensation, and that the sauce is the right color and texture. I frequent Bay Leaf whenever I am in town every single summer and I would even more if the prices weren’t as steep. I don’t mind spending the money for this food, but I would come back and back again if it were rational based on the expenses incurred. I recommend the following which I get most times that I go. Any naan, chicken korma, any lassi, lamb vindaloo, and butter chicken.

SO GOOD! I’m here visiting and tried this place for the first time. Quick service and nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Staff is also really friendly and on top of their game. Food is fantastic as well! I will definitely be back on my next visit! Shown in the pictures are Vegetable Samosa, plain Naan bread, and Paneer Tikka Masala.

Delicious, authentic Indian cuisine in a cozy restaurant. The food was fantastic and service was very attentive. You may wait slightly longer for your food compared to other offerings downtown, but it’s clear that this extra time is due to the care and attention put into making each meal fresh. The food comes out hot and tasty. One of the few dining spots in New Bern where we would actually look forward to spending our money.

Dined here with a group of 15 ladies. The restaurant opened at 5pm and they knew we were coming but there were more of us than originally planned. They accommodated us quickly. We were on a Barbie or Bust group and had to be at the theater by 6:15! I must say they did an amazing job trying to get 15 orders served in a small amount of time. I think one person got their food too late but they presented boxes and we all boxed the remainder of our food and I for one had a fabulous lunch the next day!

In town for work and was recommend to this restaurant. I’m BEYOND happy I tried it. The Meat samosa, shrimp curry & key lime pie were stupendous. Next time I visit, I will be back!

Best food place in New Bern in my opinion. A bit longer wait times but nothing crazy. Food is awesome and people here are amazing too. I forgot to take photos of the curries but trust me they are good lol paneer tikka masala and malai kofta are my favourites here.

Food was amazing. Service could use some work. The owner spent a good bit of our meal fussing at our server and another employee in the dining room. It made the meal a bit uncomfortable and probably contributed to why he was able to give us better service.

Amazing buffet. I posted plenty of pics. The mango custard has so much flavor. The meatballs were flavorful and fresh. The Chicken Tika Masala was tender and full of flavor. Cucumber salad, yummy and fresh. Service was remarkable. We will come back.

My husband and I missed our 19th wedding anniversary last week because of work, so we decided to go out a week late. We always have an Indian curry for our Anniversary, so we tried Bay Leaf since we were in town. The building was slightly difficult to find. But the food was so very worth the search for the restaurant! We have had curry every Saturday for 19 years. We have also had it in 3 different countries. I can assure you that the food here is hand made from scratch by a chef who cooks this way every day, and it is very good! Aside from drinks and popadums, there was nothing prepackaged served to us! The food is fabulous! Worth every one of 5 stars in our book! If you like good food you will be very pleased to stop in for a meal!
