We had a late dinner there on 7/31. We were told the wait for a table on the deck would be about 15-20 minutes. We decided to have a drink at the bar while we waited. Bartender was friendly and quick. Our table was ready in 10 min. We lucked out with a table on the outer edge just in time for sunset.
Our server never introduced herself but aside from that, she was wonderful. We ordered appetizers & entrees. The sea scallops wrapped in bacon were cooked perfectly. The bacon was crisp and the scallops were tender and delicious. My husband had the crab cakes and said they were delicious as well. Our entrees (Ahi Tuna & Blackened Swordfish) were cooked exactly as we asked. It was an exceptional meal with lovely sunset views over the water.
Again, I don't know our server name but she was excellent. She checked on us with specific questions, making sure our meals were cooked to our liking, that we liked the red pepper jam the meals came with (it was amazing), making sure we had fresh drinks when we wanted them.
It was a perfect night. We'll be back.
Apps...oysters and soft shell crab=amazing
Ribeye and lobster risotto=amazing.....service was great too �
Fathoms Bar and Grille
We visited The Fatham Bar and Grille for lunch in August. It was a beautiful day to dine on their covered outside deck. We ordered calamari which was delicious and fried perfectly, plenty for two people to share. My friend was a little disappointed with the beers on tap offerings; my dark and stormy was just right. We had fish tacos and scallops both of which were generous servings and well done. The view of the busy bridge and harbor area were a perfect backdrop. Watch out the your money doesn't blow off the table in the breeze!
Had the lunch clam plate, wasn't bad but kind of light on the clams.although it was only 7 dollars, I was expecting at least a half a dozen clams or a few more, not 4. French fries and the coleslaw was good,didn't care for the tarter sauce.service was okay, it was a free meal,my brother took me out for lunch,so I guess it was good, I would go back, try something different.you would think with the owner owning fishing boats in a fish house it would be plentiful portions. Although looking at the size of him,thats probably where its all going to.
Great Place!!!. I was stopping by a couple of times a month over the summer with no expectations. Loved the bar because it reminded me of an "ultra lounge" one would normally see in a metropolitan city or even Las Vegas,,,the fact that it was on the water made it even more special...finally went in for my birthday recently...it was later on the evening...the manager Paula could not have been more accomodating...the waitress was very cool and attentive...the drinks were excellent...the food was great...there was evenb a dude playing guitar...I give them very high marks as the place continues to improve and is now my first choice over "Cork"...or "Rose Alley" and especially "Ice Chest"... those places should watch out!!!

Fathoms-Recommended. My Family and I went on a Sunday for a Graduation Party. We had originally made the reservation for 14 on the outstide deck, but we ended up having to add 2 more people once we arrived. This was not a problem at all. The owner actually gave up their own table for us! The food was delicious from the appetizers to the dessert. We had the Calamari for an appetizer. Now I usually don't like calamari as it tastes like rubber, but these were so fresh and they just melted in your mouth. For our meals we had lobster ravioli, fish & chips, steak tips, surf & Turf (Baked Stuff Scallops & Prime Rib), Baked Scrod, Hamburger, & The Ribeye. Everything was delicious. I mean we did not have one complaint about anything! We then had the Turtle Cheesecake. It was unbelievable and the portion could have been 2 portions if they really wanted to. The prices were great. Our total bill was around $300 and that's for 16 people and about 10 of us had ordered drinks as well. The view of the harbor was outstanding and New Bedford was in desperate need of this. They had a 2 person band which was a great addition to the evening. This was not my first time there and it definetly will not be my last!
Very Nice Service and Food. I read all of the reviews before going to this place and i have to say I am glad i went.
I never judge a book by it's cover and everyone is entitled to their opinion. I have to say that i enjoyed it all.
my friend had the seafood platter and the portions were big and over filling. I had the Buffalo app with house salad and I had leftovers. Beautiful views and nice help.
5 stars in my book.
I've been there a few times and the food is OK. management needs some work and like any new restaurant, mistakes are made. Prices are fair and portions could be better. Maybe with time they will make some changes to the menu and better the size of their meals (OK if you are on a diet...)
Nice location - great service. We went for lunch and had a great experience. The location is nice on the water and the bar is just beautiful. We had pub food - wings and pizza - and everything was great. Our server Julie was very attentive and we will definitely come back. Nice to have another nice dining option in the city.
Outstanding. My husband and I have eaten at Fathoms on several occasions and have found the food to be both tasty and consistent. The decor is beautiful with a location on the water in New Bedford, something this area was in desperate need of, and the prices are extremely competitve and the portions are more than satisfying. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for the freshest seafood in town
My wife and I had an excellent lunch on the deck overlooking the harbor. The calamari was cooked perfectly, lightly breaded and tender. My fish and chips were great, lightly breaded and fresh. My wife really liked her fried scrod and scallops.
Very yummy for American food or seafood. My husband has fish and I had the prime rib. Both delicious. Fun place for date night or a meet up with friends. Come for the drinks and stay to enjoy the beautiful bar. A great place for outdoor dining during the summer.
I had the fish and chips. The fish was tender and flavorful without being greasy. My husband got the seafood platter. Everything was delicious. I even tried scallops for the 2nd time with my daughter and they were amazing. They were tender and full of flavor with out being rubbery, that why I never wanted to try them again.
Another great place for family and friends to enjoy a great meal and friendly service. They offer a wide variety of food to choose from when ordering at this location. The staff are always friendly and professional. They offer all of the New England Fresh Seafood. We ordered the seafood pasta and lobster roll. Each dish offers large portions of food and great taste each bit has to offer. My kids love’s this place.
We LOVED this place. Staff was more than accommodating and friendly. The place was beautiful, and the food was AMAZING. Do prepare to pay a higher bill though, especially with drinks.
Had the scrod and scallops, and it was very tasty...also the clam chowder was tasty too!
First time, at this restaurant. Great view on outside deck. I had the chicken pesto sandwich with fries, so yummy! My husband had the cod fish sandwich, amazing!! The batter and the fish was delicious one of the best fish sandwich he has EVER had.
Perhaps the best restaurant in the area, Fathoms' French Onion Soup and its Clam Chowder start your dining experience on a high note. The seafood and meat entrees delight the most discerning diner. If you still have room for dessert, Fathoms' will not disappoint. Try a handcrafted Bloody Mary with a pickle or one of the complete bar's offerings to complete your dining experience.
