J. Gumbo's

Really great place to eat! I thoroughly enjoyed it here. They give free samples if you can't decide. Each entree comes with bread, a side (some have up-charge), and dessert-- you can't beat that for less than 8 dollars!! All the employees were really nice, especially the young lady (couldn't have been more than 10 yrs old) that greeted us. I had the gumbo (great!) with corn side and peach cobbler. Wife had chicken (forgot the exact name, but one of the hotter/spicier chickens), mac and cheese, and skipped on dessert. Everything was great! Will recommend to my sister-in-law and her fiance when they go to Nashville!

This was my first experience with J Gumbo’s & Cajun food. I didn’t know what to expect but Dave explained what the menu had & offered all the samples to me before any choices were made. Portion size was more than enough & prices were way less then I would have thought. Everything was great. The only thing that would be better is if it was in Murfreesboro. Thanks Dave I’ll be back

Only seemed right to try j. Gumbo's gumbo the first go around. It thankfully was all it needed to be portion size and all! So I went back and got the honey ¿siracha? Chicken. WHAT A FLAVOR, I had to wein myself off of that stuff. My only thing is I feel like the bread should be cornbread instead of toast? I feel like Cajun people eat cornbread but idk🤷🏾‍♂️, I'm gonna look it up. That being said I get an extra slice of toast each time, so. HONEY SIRACHA CHICKEN.

Amazing service from Frank at the counter and the other employees in the kitchen. You can sample any of the stews, so you know you’ll buy something you like. My husband conquered the Voodoo and I LOVED the Bumblebee. The beignets were delicious, too. Fair pricing, generous portions, and excellent service means our first visit definitely won’t be our last! Thank you!

This place is great! You get to sample anything you want! They even let me sample the cobbler! They have gluten free and vegetarian options, which is great for some of my friends! They seem to have something for anyone’s flavor pallet. Also, huge amount of food for the $7.99 meal price. Friendly owner and staff. Great atmosphere!

My party and I ordered several entrees and prior the staff offered samples to make sure we got what we wanted. I got the big bowl(split two meats on rice) and can typically finish a large plate, found I was taking home the small portion left as it was good enough not to leave there. I had the burbon chicken and bumblebee enjoying the sweet and mello with the rice mixed in. I live about 17 miles away and will make the trip again to enjoy some of the other items... Overall staff was very pleasant, the food very tasty, and large portion for the money.

Place was amazing!!! Met Dave the Owner and he was literally one of the most accommodating and pleasant people to meet, made sure we got samples of everything that peaked are interests. Ended up buying a big batch of the voodoo chicken and some type of sweet corn and fed everyone for our 4th of July get together.

Excellent food, great prices, and a fabulous management. Customer service was Grade A, even offering drink refills and extra services. Free samples of each dish, and overall a great and friendly environment with even greater food and prices. Would recommend to anyone who's looking for something different.
