Didn't get a chance to eat the food. But what I did get was a warm welcome. Don't let this quiet look fool you. This was on a rainy Saturday morning and this place was packed inside. When I first pulled up there was a line outside. I went inside and I was greeted by AL and two smiling employees. One appears to be the hostess she approached me and asked me how many? She advise me of the wait time. 30 minute wait. She offered to take down my phone number to receive a phone call when my table was ready. She advise me that I could wait in my car and she will call me. Customer service plays a big part for me and that was a great start. I hope to soon be back so that I may try the food that I hear so much about.
The breakfast sandwiches were incredible. So were the chocolate chip pancakes. Crispy along the edges, soft enough inside that you didn’t need or even want for butter or syrup. The biscuits and gravy were unlike any I’ve had before; brown gravy and spicy. I may have a new favorite.
Al took some time to talk with my friends and I. He’s super busy, so his time was very much appreciated. Al was SO nice and funny. Great wit and banter.
Al himself gave my kids both brand new matchbox cars. He found out my child wanted breakfast after we were told we were too late for breakfast and brought over a plate of pancakes, sausage, and bacon. FREE!
He saw we were taking a bunch of food home and offered 3 more warm biscuits for the road. FREE!
Only thing someone needs to know is how spicy everything is. Very good home cooking. A must try in Nashville!
Stopped in our first morning in Nashville and we are so happy we did. We tried everything and it was all amazing. Al and his staff are so nice and friendly.
If you are looking for a welcoming home cooked meal. THIS IS THE PLACE. Al and AJ (the server) make you feel like family. We will be back again Al, food was so good and loved the welcoming atmosphere.
Amazing food, amazing people. Chicken and catfish were perfectly fried and juicy on the inside. Biscuits were buttery soft and delicious. Portions are very generous. Highly recommend!
Listen - this place is by far one of the best breakfast experiences I have ever had. The restaurant's internal space is small, but be prepared to park, and wait to be called for available seating. We waited maybe 10 minutes, and table turnover is steady.
I got the fried chicken breakfast and I cannot say enough good things about it. I had a conversation with the chef while he dredged the chicken about college football, and then he kept talking to us while our order was prepared. It was an amazing experience and you should take every opportunity to avail yourself of it.
This place is amazing! I'm a fussy eater and I loved everything. I ordered the 4 egg omelette, which was prepared to perfection, everything was fresh and the biscuit was delicious. Not only was the food wonderful so was Big Al and his family, they make everyone feel so welcome. This is a must place to have a meal when you're in Nashville.
This is a genuine greasy spoon mom n pop business. Its not big inside, but they will do their best to accommodate large parties. We were a group of 12 and they were able to seat us outside. The food is delicious and the portions are large. We only went for breakfast and everything we tried was so good that we went back a second time. Would have gone more but their was other restaurants I wanted to try. We had biscuits and gravy, which was different but still delicious. The omelettes are amazing and the biscuits and soft and moist.
Found this place on a TikTok video. Checked out the reviews and decided to go visit Al while passing through town. This is a great family run deli / eatery with great southern roots. I enjoyed the fried pork chops and my wife had the catfish. It was great visiting with Al and his son while we dined. If you enjoy soulful southern food in a quaint setting you should certainly check this place out!!!!
