Instantly one of my favorite restaurants in Nashville.
I think i finally understand what someone means when they say "the menu is an experience." They take so many familiar ingredients and elevate your expectations of how they can taste. I'm still having dreams of the desserts I had, they were...perfect.
Lastly, if you like oysters there is no better place. The variety is great and the flavors made me fall in love with oysters again.
If you want a great variety of fresh oysters, Henrietta Red is your place. The Oyster Rockefeller’s has a fresh taste, complex flavors and textures that create an explosion of flavor on your palate. Although I avoid bread, I can never turn down the wood fired bread with the mouthwatering anchovy spread. Eat the bread, slather the anchovy spread on top and ask for forgiveness later. Forget what you thought about radish’s and try the Radish Salad. The salad has complex flavors of sweetness, tart and savory. I could not resist the scallops seared to perfection with a savory light citrus sauce. For dessert, I ordered a piece of art, the Chocolate Marquise. It was so beautiful to look at, and wonderfully decedent. Henrietta Red serves great shareable plates, craft cocktails and wine. I highly recommend Henrietta Red.
Henrietta Red is a trendy spot in Germantown serving up flavorful & unique seasonal menus loaded with vegetables, seafood and oysters. Portion sizes are fairly small (especially considering the pricing) - if looking to share amongst even a small group you’ll want to order multiple appetizers and entrees. Our group was particularly fond of the scallops & gnocchi with the desserts also a big hit!
Great food. The menu is designed a bit differently than normal restaurants....meant to share. There were 4 adults and one child in our party and we ordered 3 appetizers, and two main courses. It was plenty for all of us and had small amount of leftovers to take home. The food was great and worth eating here.
Make reservation. Might get lucky just walking in, but don't count on getting a table. Opens at 5 and by 6pm, the pace was nearly full.
Always pass by this bar so stopped in to try the cocktails. Right away had a very pleasant conversation at the hostess stand. Both of them were very knowledgeable about the bar and it's history. Waiting for the waitress and observing the staff I notice the work flow is efficent and purposeful. It becomes clear to me after watching them for just a bit that everyone here is a professional at service. The waitress recommends 2 cocktails based on our spirit preferences. We ordered Civil Service and Soft Cadence.
One was an elevated egg white lemon drop-esque Up cocktail with cracked black pepper on top. Think light fluffy. Very sophisticated and balanced. The other one was a tequila mule riff that was unfortunately overpowered by the ginger. Bucks are easy to make so most bartenders will free pour them. I just wish the bartender had straw tasted it before sending it out. The one thing that kept and otherwise 5 star visit one star short. Update***
Came back to try the "Up-to-Date" a Manhattan riff with sherry. Right away orange on the nose...so I know it is a well executed expression. On the sip it's Angostura and orange Right in front with the sherry chasing on the back end. It's smooth and sophisticated with juts enough bite to make it intriguing. The Demerara is there but not overbearing all in all a well made well built balanced cocktail. Not the best Manhattan riff in town but certainly top 10.
Henrietta Red was our favorite restaurant in Nashville. Everything from service to food to design were top notch.
Our server was so genuinely friendly and helpful. (He gave us a list of lunch places to check out.) The drinks were fantastic. But the food was out-of-this-world.
We started with oysters which were incredibly fresh, delicate and delicious. The standout oyster was the Little Honey, which I had never had.
We then had Poppy’s Caviar, which was a spectacular dish. The creamy sour cream and tangy spring onion vinaigrette complimented the paddlefish caviar perfectly. The accompanying crackers were delicate and delicious.
The crispy shrimp snack was amazing. It was similar to a light hush puppy with chunks of sweet, tender shrimp nestled inside. The hot mustard was so flavorful with the perfect amount of heat.
The scallops and mussels were equally as stellar. The proteins were fresh and cooked perfectly.
Henrietta Red is now on our do-not-miss list whenever we come to Nashville.
My family and I had a superb dinner at Henrietta's last night. While the restaurant is rather loud, the open concept and muted blue-green tones gave an airy, comfortable vibe.
Our server, Abbey, was a consummate professional without being cold or stiff. She was super informative re: oysters, drink/wine pairings and the menu and ever present without hovering! The oysters were phenomenal. The scallops divine and that snapper dish was out of this world.
Our dinner was capped off with sharing the panna cotta, which I will likely dream about for the next few nights :)
Thank you Abbey and kitchen team for a lovely night! We all greatly enjoyed it.
Beautiful vibes and immaculate flavors. Went for brunch and loved everything from the ambience to the service. The polenta with mushrooms and poached egg was just perfect. The cinnamon roll was fresh and decadent. Lots of cute shops nearby to walk around after brunch too. I recommend this place highly.
We really enjoyed our visit. Oysters were great and drinks were good as well.
Henrietta Red was amazing! So many great brunch options soothed the soul!
Monkey bread smothered in a buttery Dulce de Leche Glaze hit the spot.
Farmers Market Quiche was fantastic! So well done and delicious! Chunks of broccoli, mushroom, caramelized onions and frontal cheese married so well.
These Oysters were so tasty! Such a great variety and nuanced. So cool to try so many different flavors with great company!
Service was top notch! And the place is so beautiful!
