Love, love, love this place. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The food is too notch and the flavors are authentic. Try the Pad Thai and if you are adventurous make it Thai hot! The downside is the restaurant is tiny even with the addition hence three stars due to the noise from the neighboring tablea. There is a wait but the staff tries to seat you as soon as possible. There is also a problem with parking as there are not a lot of spaces. Overall The Smiling Elephant has some of the best Thai food in Nashville and have preserved the authentic flavors of Thailand.
Bought some takeout. Papaya salad was spicy and delicious; a good indicator for how authentic the Thai taste is. The rice wasn’t Jasmine as indicated on the menu.
Came to town to visit family and we wanted some good thai food, well, this was the place!
We ordered some pad thai, pad kee mao, some fresh rolls, and dumplings. Everything was great! We even ordered a thai iced Tea and for dessert, we had the chocolate roti.
Nothing failed to appease and the portions for the entrees were gigantic and delicious!
We will definitely come back if we are in town.
Love it here - everything on the menu look incredible, but the Pad Thai is unbelievably good! Definitely worth a visit
Top Thai restaurant in Nashville. Cozy and friendly. Reasonably priced. Has a single "Curry of the Day" that varies . Noodle dishes can be made from green bean noodles or rice noodles. Does not serve alcohol of any type.
Excellent service and food. Lunch meal....jasmine tea, tofu red curry, cashew tofu, vegetarian dumplings (soy sauce/ginger sauce) and rice paper rolls (sweet chili sauce). 😋 All delicious. Nice setting. Good place to talk.
A small place with amazing food. Reasonably priced as well. Accidentally discovered and was found to be having an amazing variety of food.
Food lives up to our expectation of Thai food, because at various places claiming to be genuine Thai food, we have felt cheated in the past.
This place was excellent. Good portions were on the higher side. Two dishes for 3 people Should suffice.
Ample parking space, does not take reservations and serves very good quality authentic Thai food. Not far from the freeway too. Just 8 miles inside.
Has received multiple awards in the past.
Must go to place if one is in and around Nashville.
The restaurant itself is small. Which could be a good or bad thing. If it's not packed then it feels more intimate. If it is it's a bit loud and crowded. When our party of 5 went it was really busy with only one server. With that being said our server did an amazing job to be the only person working the floor. The food is very tasty and authentic. Additionally, any of the meat dishes can be substituted with tofu.
He is definitely missed. Glad to have gone back and gotten a taste of good food. The hibiscus drink as really good. Lemongrass not what I remember but still pretty good.
I went for an early lunch on a Wednesday. It wasn't too crowded yet. Cozy surroundings, a very pleasant and attentive server.
I had chicken pad that with medium spice. A large portion spiced right and flavorful. I also had Thai iced coffee as a treat.
Maybe a little pricey for lunch, but I think I got a good value. The menu has many days dishes.
Recommended. As good as it's reputation.
