I'm staying near by for a conference and when in a new area, I try to eat at local spots rather than chains. I read a bunch of reviews and this place sounded like some of the eateries I know of in NC and LA.
I was greeted with a series of bright smiles from the staff when I walked in. Almost as soon as I was seated, Monica came over and laid the "fixins" on the table. I ordered the sweet tea (which was just about perfect, some places really lace it with the sugar, Uncle Bud did it perfectly).
Of the fixins, the hush puppies looked a little different from what I was used to, but they tasted great. The beans were outstanding as well. The slaw and pickles were solid, but I didn't eat the raw onion.
Ok, now here is where the enlightening starts.
I know they have a catfish for a logo, they talk about catfish on their website, the catfish is iconic here. So I took a chance and ordered the gator. Man am I happy I did.
I have to say that was some of the best gator I have had outside of Louisiana. If you have never tried gator before, you can't go wrong here. They have set a very high bar indeed.
I also got the fried okra, it was decent.
Unfortunately, I was stuffed (like loosen the belt full) because I would love to have tried one of the desserts.
I wish I lived closer, I would definitely be a regular.
Get the gator! So dang good! The catfish fillets are also very tasty. The fried okra is a fabulous side, although could use a little bit more seasoning. You don’t go to uncle buds for health food, you go to pig out.
Went to Uncle Bud's this evening with some family with high expectations, as I had heard they serve the best catfish in Nashville. Well Uncle Buds, you more than exceeded my expectations. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic! Would recommend �Thanks for the fabulous meal.
We came to this place thinking it was bar b que place. It was ever better. Amazing food. Our server Sherrell was so entertaining and hilarious.. She made the dinning experience there so much fun and staff was amazing as well.. This attitude I love to see and you just gained two regulars. It must be Sherrell section only.lmao
When I go to Nashville my favorite place to eat of all time is Uncle Buds! The food is supreme and so is the service and the price is right. Uncle Buds can't be beat . And they have the best tea ever to go by the gallon�����
Visited tonight for all-you-can-eat catfish. As usual the staff was friendly and the food was delicious. Our server, Zachary, provided perfect customer service.

Catfish shrimp chicken hush puppies and the best white beans in the world and great service
While It may be not hard to impress this New Yorker with southern cooking. The service and hospitality was of the charts! Great staff all around!
Excellent down home service at a reasonable price. Best Whole Catfish I have ever had at a restaurant. Senior discount, military discount, free food to veterans on Memorial and Veterans Day.

First time my husband and I ate here. It was worth the drive from Monteagle. Will definitely be going back. Great food for great prices.

Good Family Option. We've eaten at a couple of Bud's locations (they are expanding quickly.) We've always had good honest food. Having both the catfish and a couple of types of chicken, I must say I most prefer their fried chicken. They don't have Nashville Hot, but they do fry up a good dead bird!. Catfish is fine, but the fillets are a little on the small side. No "fishy" taste, just fresh clean catfish. Their menu does vary a little between locations, but it's mostly the same as we can tell. By ordering a dinner plate, you get a full array of sides: fries, slaw, white beans, pickles and hush puppies or garlic bread. Snack versions are available with less sides. I prefer the garlic bread as the hush puppies are a little dry, but not overly so. It's family friendly and kids seem to like it a lot. They have some kids eat free specials, so check the website. The fried chicken is moist, crispy and makes a great leftover. The chicken tenders can be had regular or in a cajun sauce. The sauce is like a typical buffalo sauce to me. It's a "order at counter" system and they bring your food to your table cooked to order. Prices aren't the lowest, but the food is good quality. The eclectic posters, rough wood, license plates, etc. decor is fun and informal. Not a bad place at all.

The friendliest service I think I've ever had. A lot of food for the money, maybe that's not such a great thing for the waste line, but it was all very fresh and tasty. The hushpuppies we're probably my favorite, and the fried pickle spears.
Tacky yet Unrefined. A fun experience and great catfish. They do pretty much one thing, and do it right.
What a gem of a place! Sometimes good food done right is all you need. Delicious hush puppies the size of a baseball arrive quickly along with quart sized mason jars of your favorite beverage before you even order your dinner. We happened to stop in on AYCE Fried Catfish night and what a treat it was. The fish was nice and crispy and seasoned well. The fries must be cooked separately as they didn't taste of seafood. The tartar sauce is lemony and they even have Cane Syrup at your disposal for those in the know. Our server was on top of refills quickly and was very kind. The only miss for me was the cobbler, it had enough butter in it to make Paula Deen blush. We enjoyed our meal very much and plan to come back on Sunday for the chicken special.
The food was tasty. U get unlimited sides when purchasing the entree (beans, slaw, pickled onions etc) only thing is the portion sizes for the entrees. They're skimpy. I ordered the 2 or 3 piece catfish and the filets were really small. Ion know if they were larger before the fry but damn, did they shrivel down. Two bites and the filet was gone!! Good thing they kept the sides coming but who wants to fill up on sides? The entree is the main meal. For that, u get a star off. Everything else was fine. Service, staff, overall cleanliness... I liked it. For the entree prices tho, they gotta do better. I understand inflation, overhead, profits but $18 for what received? Nah, bigger portions make sense.
Passing thru Nashville and wanted some fish and chicken. Found Uncle Buds and so grateful. Cherish was our server and was absolutely amazing.
We got the catfish and chicken along with the chicken fried steak. With all the fixins. 10/10 recommend!!!
Enjoyed our 1st visit to Uncle Buds w family. Catfish filets just right. Slaw & beans w ham excellent. We even tried the fried chicken & chicken livers. Had an excellent waitress. Unfortunately out of coke (staple for my 86 yr old dad) but sweet tea was perfect. Highly recommend.
Great southern food with great service. Staff is always very friendly, fast, & attentive. Chicken & fish are awesome. All you can eat sides. Definitely try this place.
First time here from Chicago. The food was delicious! When they brought out all the fixins we were shocked. Those hush puppies are crazy good! I got the shrimp and my husband got the cat fish both things were so good and fresh tasting. The server was so friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back!

Thursday offers All You Can Eat Catfish; whole or filets. Hushpuppues. White Beans. Coleslaw. Pickles. Freshly hand sliced white onion.
Service is fast and efficient.
The atmosphere is clean but definitely not fancy...the 20 minute wait for a table was not unexpected and warranted.
Everything about this place is fantastic!!! The atmosphere and things on the walls were so fun to look at. I've never had such a friendly and interactive waitstaff. They are wonderful and helpful and so happy!! I tried the catfish and shrimp, and this was my first catfish... It did NOT disappoint! So happy I found this place online!! Will absolutely come back when I'm in town!!
Was told this was the best seafood place nearby, and it turned out it was a chicken and catfish house. The offered shrimp, oysters, clams, gator tail bites and frog legs. So if you want to to get your fried foods on check out Uncle Buds.
Oh, my God, it was great, it was so wonderful I wasn't in there with my little brother. We had so much food, its great chicken. My brother had fried fish, I had barbecue chicken. It was so good, ha ha ha. HOW bout those hush puppies ! And waitresses were very nice.

Granite it's not as great as something you would get on the coast, but it's good for landlocked Tennessee.
Be warned, they keep it really cold in there, so dress appropriately.
I thought their fish was amazing but after tasting their shrimp and chicken tenders, I was blown away. Everything was great! Alligator Alley is private nook right as you walk in. Only 4 booths fit in it. It is so cool. Kids will definately like it.
If you like fried Catfish this is the pla e to be. The Catfish was nice and crunchy. It came with fries and all you can eat slaw, white brands, pickles and onions, and high puppies. I passed on the hush puppies. The place is decorated family fun. The prices are family friendly too.
This place was quite an exceptional experience. Service was wonderful. I was brought bowls of White Beans, Slaw, Sliced Sweet Onion, pickle slices and some of the Best Hush Puppies in memory, upon being seated. I ordered the 4 pieces of Catfish, which was perfectly prepared and served on a bed of delicious French Fries. A family at a table next to me was feasting on chicken and shrimp, which looked amazing. Great casual atmosphere.
I had the best time and meal here! I dined alone and had an older female server who made me feel right at home. The catfish was delicious and so was the tartar sauce. Maybe the best tartar sauce I ever had!
The server recommend the two piece for me, but knowing how much catfish I can eat, I ordered the largest platter and still had room for more! The portion size was appropriate, but I didn’t eat much of the sides (which are endless). I was just really craving catfish!
The pickles were to die for. I asked for extra and she brought me out a whole bowl, which I ate. They even sold me some to take home! Literally the best pickles I’ve ever had. I wish I lived closer so I could get more pickles.

We love Uncle Bud's Lil Hooks Catfish! They are little nuggets of Catfish cornbread-battered and fried to perfection! Normally, the meals are served with all you can eat sides of white beans, coleslaw, hush puppies, pickles & onions, and wedge fries. We are not fans of those all sides, so we just order the Lil' Hooks as a side with sides of fries and hush puppies. For dessert, you should definitely try the 'Nana Pudding!
We were in Nashville, TN last weekend for my oldest Daughter early birthday celebration. We went here on 9/16/22. I was a little worried as they closed at 9pm. We got there right at a little after 8pm. The staff was so welcoming, even though we had a party of 6. We ordered 3 fried shrimp dinners, catfish dinner, and a kids chicken tender meal. The food here was delicious. The white beans were seasoned so well, and the hush puppies I couldn't get enough of. Our server Stephanie F. did an outstanding job, thank you. If I'm ever back in the area I will make to come back again. I highly recommend Uncle Bud's.
