Stayed in Nashville for a weekend and tried Hattie B’s for lunch. There was a line to get into the door but indoor seating wasn’t too difficult to find once we got in. I ordered hot chicken tenders, potato salad and pimento cheese Mac and cheese and all of it was amazing. The Mac and cheese was probably the best I’ve ever tasted. I’d say the food was definitely worth the wait which explains the crowd. Very good lunch!
All that and then some. One of the best fries chicken joints I’ve visited in my lifetime. Most definitely recommend this place.
While watching Barbershop, the scene with Cedric the Entertainer smacking on some chicken got me and the wife thinking about Hattie B’s! 30 minutes later we’re in line and waiting on our meal. Service was fast & friendly and as usual the 🍗🍗 was delicious. Afterwards we were able to order banana pudding at our table👍🏾. Flavorful, fast & friendly you can’t go wrong here.
You can tell how good a place is by how busy it is. The original location had a line halfway down the block so I went to the Charlotte location which was almost as busy. I called my order in and they text me when my order was ready. There was no standing in line for 30 mins. They had a “pick up” line for call ins. The staff was very friendly even in the busy lunch hour rush. Can’t wait to go back.
First time there. Waited about 15 minuets to get inside and it was worth it. Food was delicious and the staff very friendly.
Well worth the wait! A must go to place when visiting Nashville!

Love this place! Always have to go in for some hot chicken, pimento cheese Mac and cheese, and banana pudding when we are here from Oklahoma
Hands down, the best hot chicken I've had on this earth.
This place has some of the best hot chicken , options are amazing, the servings are good, you get a good full ...still can crave for more, will love to come back.
Love Hattie B’s! My wife and daughter prefer no heat, so they get the regular fried chicken tenders. I like things a little hotter so, I ordered Shut the Cluck Up! It was HOT!!! Food was great and so was the service!! If you’re in Nashville, this is a definite must stop!
This was by far the most delicious chicken I have ever eaten.

Great experience! Fast seating and service. The food was amazing! Definitely will be back!
I had the chicken and waffles. The chicken tenders which I got southern were so juicy and flavorful I did not need any sauce to dip them in. This was my first time here and will definitely be back for more.
I don't eat a lot of chicken, but Hatties B's is da bomb. Highly recommended, Try the black-eye pea cold salad Awesome, You will not be disappointed,
Great Food! Awesome place! The Mac n Cheese was amazinggg!
Didn't know what to expect. However, the hot chicken was some of the best that I've had.
It was an awesome experience. Staff is as great as the food!

You have to try the Nashville style fried chicken when in Nashville and Hattie B's is one of the most popular places to try it. More importantly it lives up to all the hype. There was a long wait and it was raining but in the end it was all worth it. We did just one mistake we ordered the dam hot because we eat very spicy and thought we can handle it, and dam were we wrong. It is really really spicy , its not the American standard of spicy, it's really super hot. We also got 1 chicken nugget with shut the clunk up and that almost killed us lol. Next time we will order the hot one but no matter what, it was an amazing chicken. The best style of fried chicken in fact. I wish we got Nashville style chicken in our state. It's what we call a life changing experience.
We also got chicken from Prince just to compare and we got the Hot one and though we enjoyed that one better because it was not as spicy but still both of them were equally good and if you get chance try both of them.
Positives for Hattie B's: Hattie B's is much more accessible and the timings are good, prince is located little away from town and opens at 2 pm. Both had long queue. I would still eat at both the places next time I go to Nashville.
I was told Hattie B’s was an absolute must try while visiting Nashville. This place lived up to all the hype heard from the locals and from what I’ve seen on food tv shows. The pre-warning about the slight wait in line helped get my mind & taste buds prepared for the “shut the cluck up” heat level. This chicken was so fantastic, I had to revisit the following day, but opted only for the “hot” level. Deliciously addictive!!
3rd visit--still great! I still haven't had the greens yet! No complaints! Bring on the sides!! The mac & cheese is my fav!! Seriously, when are you coming to Memphis?
Hattie B's was a must when we were in Nashville. The chicken was cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. I ordered my chicken mild, but I could have gone hot. The mac n cheese was good and the fries were standard with a nice seasoning on them. The staff was super friendly and patient. Overall a great experience and will definitely be back when I'm in town!
This was so amazingly yummy. It was worth the long line in intense heat. Portions are large. One chicken breast did me fine. Cole slaw needed flavor but potato salad was great
Amazing atmosphere and food. No one favorite. Chicken, mac n cheese and peach cobbler all fantastic. Hot scale is accurate don't go above hot!
I recently traveled to the city (8 hour drive from Morgantown) to see my friend, Brittany. While there, we embarked on a week's worth of gluttony, adventuring and boozing. The first stop, after the long drive: dinner at Hattie B's Hot Chicken.Hot chicken is a regional specialty in Nashville, so I had no fewer than at least three places (maybe four) that served it on my wish list.According to Wikipedia, hot chicken was discovered by accident:
Hattie B's hottest chicken bout killed me and it was worth every minute of searing pain. Baked beans were excellent and fries were crispy and salted to perfection.
Now I know what all the fuss is about!
Stopped in for a late lunch and was rewarded with one of the best chicken sandwiches I've had in a long time. Four levels of hot sauce-I wimped out and ordered mine "medium" instead of hot. (4 heat levels-mild, medium, hot and damn hot). Medium was full of flavor with a little bite. Next time I definitely will progress to "hot". Chicken was tender, flavorful with a light breading. I bet the other chicken items on the menu are just as good.
Very casual, you sit at picnic tables.
The food is always great! I love this place. I could eat their mac and cheese everyday! Prices are pretty reasonable compared to other restaurants in town.
Hattie B's is one of those rare places where, even if you have an absolute fetish for hot, you can still destroy yourself with their hottest options. Delicious, unique chicken and solid sides. Just be sure to avoid peak hours or you'll be waiting in line for half the night.
I love the original Hattie B's in midtown, which is where I usually take my visitors to experience Nashville's signature dish: hot chicken. So over Memorial Day weekend when we drove by the Midtown location for lunch and saw a line that was easily pushing an hour and a half, we decided to drive a few more miles to the West location. We were pleasantly surprised to find a nicely sized parking lot and a relatively short line! The wait felt super fast and the line was barely out the door.
I felt that the food was exactly the same as the Midtown location, and it was so much less claustrophobic. There was no wait for seating, and there was even some outdoor seating both shaded and unshaded. I feel like I will start going to the West location more than the other one given it eliminates the only things I dislike about Hattie B's... Waiting in line and finding parking!
Last night we tried Hattie B's for the first time, ever. After hearing so much about the place, we of course wanted to try it, but were intimidated by the four levels of heat AND the forever-out-the-door lines. BUT. IT. WAS. WORTH. IT! Right off the bat we warned the young man taking our order that we've never before been there, and instead of the "oh, great" expression we expected, he was very reassuring and actually excited that it was our first trip. He, and everyone else for that matter, were VERY helpful and DIDN'T try to make us feel like idiots, despite the fact that they were all CLEARLY "slammed", business-wise. I'm not going to say this is the most delicious chicken I've ever put in my mouth, but it's awfully damn good, and the turnip greens ARE the best turnip greens I think I've ever put in my mouth. I was born and raised here in the South, but I never was crazy about mushy turnip greens. Hattie B's gets all the fat back flavor but WITHOUT cooking the greens until they're completely wilted into liquid. I like that ****. The mac'n'cheese wasn't as flavorful as I'd hoped, but it was still as good as most anyone else's. The chicken, again, wasn't necessarily "the best", but for what they charged it was definitely great. Also, we didn't leave feeling bloated and over-salted. Lately, chicken joints all seem to brine the HELL out of their chicken, whereas it FEELS, at least, that Hattie B's relies more on actual SPICES than salt. My wife flipped-out upon learning they carried Stiegl Radler grapefruit "beer". She'd had it in Austria and LOVED it, but can't find it in any liquor store or beer-centric joint we try. Hattie B's has it, though!
We opted to eat outside on the patio, and it was so much fun to see a different view of West Nashville at night than we ever have before. In fact, I was more than just a little jealous that West Nashville has such a vibrant night-time community in that area- with Miel, Bobbie's Dairy Dip, Wendell Smith's, and now Hattie B's all within walking-distance of each other. NOW I can see why Sylvan Park homes are commanding such high prices- it's the great places (like Hattie B's) to eat! The patio has a slight slope to it, so we were sliding off of our seats, but that was a minor thing that didn't really detract from the dining experience. All in all, I'd give the service five-stars, the food four and a half stars, and the location/ambiance, etc. four and a half stars, as well. SO glad we finally tried it, and WILL be back!
We had one last meal to eat in Nashville before returning to Memphis. There were lots of fancy places I wanted to try, most of which weren't open for lunch. I also wanted to make sure I didn't force my sensitive teen to eat at another "hippie place." We all love chicken, so Hattie B's seemed like a good bet. (We went to Prince's Hot Chicken years ago and loved it, but it as slooooooooow.)
You must stop here while your in Nashville! Hands down the best fried chicken I've ever eaten! It's so juicy and tender and the skin is so tasty! I've gotten the hot but I prefer the medium, it has the right amount of heat! I enjoyed all the sides but the pimento Mac n cheese and potato salad is to die for! Bottom line here is they are a must try! You won't be disappointed!
The chicken here is to die for. We waited in line outside for 30 minutes with two kids which was a downfall but after trying the food it totally made up for it. The red potato salad was amazing, the Mac and cheese was some of the best. But the winner was the hot chicken. It was moist and flavorful, it had the right amount of spice and the location was great and parking was doable.
The service is fast and the atmoshere is friendly. The food is fantastic and is always consistant.. I have loved all of the sides with the exception of the beans. The beans were rather soupy and not very flavorful. Happy to have Hattie's close by work - my co-workers and I love it!
They also have a good selections of beer.
Best hot chicken! I ate damn hot and the only thing that cooled my mouth was the delicious side of potato salad. The daily cobbler was so scrumptious.
Go eat some chicken here you won't regret it!
Hattie B's was a shot in the dark because we were feeling fried chicken. It didn't disappoint.
The breading flavors weren't my favorite, but the juicy cuts of chicken made up for it. Very tender and thick. Fries were average.
Was it as good as the hype? Nah, but it was good.
Here are the scores:
Fried chicken: 7/10
Fries: 7/10
Coleslaw: 7/10
Mac and cheese: 6.5/10
Atmosphere: 7/10 (tight with little air conditioning... No air conditioning on one section)

Mild Chicken. Awesome awesome awesome! The chicken itself is by far the star of the meal-and that's alright by me! The sides (greens and Mac and cheese) were okay but nothing amazing. The peach cobbler with ice cream was just ok too (a bit too "loose" for my preference). I would get just chicken next time and more of instead of the sides :) the mild was awesome for me-just a touch of heat.
The chicken was really delicious as were the grits. The atmosphere was enjoyable and there were a number of tvs to watch the game. I'd skip the fries.
Everything about my visit was great, friendly staff and amazing food. Best fried chicken I've ever had. Southern greens and baked beans were both good and tea was fine. Wish I lived in Nashville so I could go here all the time.
It was well wroth the wait. Got to try the black eye pea salad. Wife ordered it and I wish I had. The beans and potatoe salad were great. The chicken is worth the wait.

Still a Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner!. After enjoying the other Hattie B's location for awhile now, we were interested in trying the new location. Gladly, it's still a great Nashville Hot Chicken experience. It's still perfectly fried and moist. Slaw is my favorite side, though I'm liking the greens more and more. Fries are just food service crinkle cut. Wish they were real potatoes. We've always had bone in, and after trying boneless tenders we decided we prefer the bone in. More juicy and authentic. I do agree with some comments that in the last couple of trips it seems it's not quite as hot as it used to be. Fortunately, they make it hotter, so it's time to kick it up to Damn Hot. Looking forward to that on the next trip.
Love this place. Chicken is awesome. Friendly staff!!
Nice addition to the neighborhood. Plenty of parking. Can't go wrong here. Banana pudding is awesome too.
This is hands down the best fried chicken I have ever eaten. I order the medium chicken tenders and waffles. It was quickly ready, and the customer service was outstanding. One employee of this particular location, Jay, made us feel like family. He was friendly and went above and beyond to make this a warm experience. Whether you’re a local or a visitor to Nashville, Hattie B’s West is definitely a must stop.
Wonderful place to grab some fried pickels, spicy chicken and a delicious dessert. Staff is kind and welcoming, atmosphere is buzzing, and the chicken feels fresh and tastes extraordinary. My friend got the "damn hot" and I got the "hot" half chicken, and whilst I was loving mine, his was really spicy. Those higher 2 levels will punish you so beware 😏
Mac and cheese was good and my favorite side was actually the French fries that were seasoned and full of flavor and crisp. Overall I strongly recommend this place, and will definitely return on my next visit to Nashville!
If you follow me, you know I reserve my 5 stars for the best of the best. And since there is no 4.5, I had to rate a 4. The employees are warm & welcoming. We ordered the 3 whole wings - Southern style (no heat) & Hot. They both came out perfect. The flavor & consistency of the wing tip is how I judge my wings. Once I pulled it off of the flat and bit into it, I knew it was a win! We tried all of the sides except bacon cheddar grits, creamy Cole slaw, and Black eyed pea salad. I don't like potato salad and I liked theirs so that should tell you a lot. The fries were perfectly brown and crispy! Only missing Red Gold ketchup (iykyk) 😀. The greens aren't soggy nor vinegary so I was impressed. The baked beans were runny, so I was apprehensive to taste; they are definitely better tasting than they look. I was pleasantly surprised. The homemade lemonade is the perfect sweetness on top of the good ice. Yes they have the "good ice"! Last but certainly not least, the pickles are top tier. Thick & crisp like they are supposed to be. They sell branded hats & T-shirts. My only regret is that we forgot to order some chicken rinds to-go before we left. Oh well, guess we have to definitely visit Hattie B's again.
Had to try it 🔥 🔥 🔥.
Wonderful place. I got the hot half chicken and mac and cheese and beans. Great choice. Flavor was off the chain. Just crazy good. If u are close stop by
I had the mild and my husband went with hot. They were both wonderful!!!! The chicken wasn't overly battered but had a good crunch on the outside, the inside was really juicy! Their pimento Mac and cheese was really good and so were the bacon cheddar grits.
Really great food. Finally got a chance to come here after a year and a half, and loved it. Ordered the chicken sandwich with potato salad. Fried pickles were amazing and I loved the banana pudding. Dirty bird fries were good too.
We went to three locations, and this is the only one without a huge line. So we went twice in a week.
A buddy and I, first timers, we like hot food and are from the Southwest. I got a half chicken little dark ... they each come with 2 sides. Luckily, the sides are small because it ended up being a lot of food.
When they delivered the hottest 'What the cluck', a couple of the food runners came to look at the 'out of towners' who obviously didn't know...
We went right to work on the 'What the cluck'. It was hot... really hot. I hung in there while the back of my head started sweating, my nose started running, and my eyes didn't water but got really itchy. I know better than to rub my eyes at this point because I had red hot oil on both hands. I started a pile of clean paper towels to do the job and prayed I didn't get any in my eyes. Dinner gloves would have been a good option here.
I needed a second beer and mustered as much courage and composure as I could to approach the counter to order. Inside, I was a little bit of pannick. Outside, I was probably slightly red but calm. Thankfully, the beer came quickly.
Feeling like the hero I was for navigating the task of 'getting a beer,' I returned triumphantly and reluctantly to the table to finish the lava coated chicken.
The sides helped. We got mac, greens, black-eyed pea salad, and red potatoes.
The flavor of the chicken helped, too! Not just hot... but great flavor!
We finished the chicken and wiped our hands a dozen more times. Issued each other warnings about washing before peeing. Discussed the strategy for the impending Sting Ring. (I suggested putting Dude Wipes in the freezer)
The counter folks checked on us twice. 🤣 I was glad that I went all in on the 'What the cluck'. Most places wouldn't serve that to the public. I've had hotter food but never from a chicken place.
A week later, I returned to this location with other friends. We ordered the medium. Still great service and food. Great spice, but it's much easier to eat. . . And besides, we were getting on the road. There's no place to keep the Dude Wipes cold!
Great spot for some amazing chicken. Best hot chicken in town and this is the best Hattie B's location. Easy parking, great staff. We go once a week. Go Wednesday night after 8pm, no lines!
Believe me…Hattie B’s Hot Chicken definitely lives up to its hype, it’s absolutely delicious!!! I’ve never tried anything that wasn’t good, the food is phenomenal. I love the southern and the mild flavor. The grits, coleslaw, Mac-n-cheese, turnip greens, chicken tenders and the chicken sandwich are ALL delicious. I highly recommend make a pit stop to Hattie B’s your taste buds will thank you.
Absolutely delicious! IMO "hot" has the best balance of heat and flavor. Don't get me wrong, still quite hot but not overwhelming and you can still taste the seasoning. I don't think they have a single bad side item or dessert. And BIG pieces of chicken. You won't leave hungry!
