Martio's Pizza

I have loved their wood oven pizzas for over 25 years. My husband was born down there. It was the 1st time in 4 years or so since we had their pizza. My daughter & I were driving back to Albany, NY from Myrtle Beach, SC and we decided it would be a nice surprise for my husband. He was shocked & couldn't wait to heat it up and eat it.

This is my favorite place to grab some pizza with family and friends. It's a local family owned pizza place, and you can really tell because of the warmth and love they show customers through their service and food. My personal favorite is the wood burning brick oven pizza with onions, garlic, red peppers, and jalapeno. It's done so quickly, and comes out crispy and so flavorful. I remember once I had come nearly at closing to get some pizza for my mom (this is her favorite and she loves a thin crust), and without even thinking, the owner and her son worked an extra 10-15 mins just to give me a hot pizza to take home. If that doesn't tell you they put their heart into what they do, I don't know what does. Absolutely delicious each and every time!

I grew up in New City not too far from Martio's. I've eaten at every pizza place in Rockland County, NY and none of them come close to Martio's. I'm specifically a huge fan of their Italian combo sandwich with the bread from Rockland Bakery and freshly toasted in their brick oven. I always have to have one Italian Combo and a plain cheese slice. They don't fill their Italian combo with too much meat which is why i like it. It's the right amount of meat with bread. We haven't lived in the area for a while now but whenever i am in the NYC area visiting. I will drive 1-2 hours just to visit Martio's to get my fix. The owners are really nice and have been in the community for years. This is a historic staple to Rockland County and is a must-try if you're passing through the area.
