We got seated right away. Not crowded for a Saturday night. We were served the little hush puppies that are very tasty. We ordered the fish crab balls and they were so good. I ordered the half lobster with stuffed crab cake and fried shrimp. The lobster was delicious, the crab stuffing was very good and the shrimp was delicious! We also got the po boy sandwich. We were very full after eating and we are definitely planning on coming back!
Food was good. To bad they are closing. First time here.
We have been eating at Mr Fish in Myrtle Beach, SC for years. We have never gotten a bad dish here. As usual, I always order the fried shrimp because they are SO good. My family orders a variety of food here, all of which they say are excellent! Service is good and so are the hush puppies with the honey butter!
The Staff here was very nice and patient with us as we took our time deciding what to eat. They were helpful throughout dinner as well with refilling drinks and the like.
Food was great! Beer battered Fish and chips were an excellent suggestion and the blue crab legs were perfectly cooked.
I do understand mandated gratuity, as far as American culture goes, for large parties but a four top (two adults with two kids) seems a tad skeezy. I dont stiff my servers but I rather choose the amount I give them and rather know that I am going to be charge X% extra to my meal.
How about we just try to pay wait staff a reasonable wage so tips are actually a bonus and something to be excited about.
Our server did let us know as she brought out the check and apologized for it, like it is her fault.
Food and staff are great but I dont even know how much of the tip my server actually keeps. I wager if you are adding gratuity she isn't seeing it all.
The Black n Bleu Tuna sandwich was exceptional... the best tuna we've ever had. Fast and friendly service. The food came out quickly and the restaurant was really clean. Our waiter, who was also the bartender, was really good. He was very friendly and personable/no pressure dining experience. Would highly recommend! One downside was there was no sushi, but it wasn't the fault of the restaurant, there was a family emergency.
Main downside is that for a party of 4 the auto included the tip. Personally, we tip the way you should but don't force the tip onto my bill. This is the one thing that could prevent me from coming back.
Before our trip, I researched some seafood restaurants and Mr. Fish came up a few times in my searches. Not only having its own seafood market next door, aptly named Mr. Fish Seafood Market, Mr. Fish the restaurant came highly rated by many on Google. Walking in we’re greeted with a huge chalkboard with daily specials that got our mouths watering. The walk to our table boasted their sushi bar which we are definitely trying next time. Our server was so pleasant and knowledgeable. Once our orders were placed, we got complimentary hush puppies. They were sweet and delectable. Our bang bang shrimp appetizer arrived still sizzling from the fryer perfectly fried and spiced. My partner ordered the crab cakes and I got the seafood Alfredo. The breading with the crab cakes were so insanely good as was the crab. My seafood Alfredo was delicious and very substantial. The reviews were correct. Mr. Fish did not disappoint. Thanks for a wonderful date night.
Keep in mind when reading reviews of places that are in tourist towns the staff changes that happen and volume of business. A family member asked some construction workers where the locals eat and he said this place. Our large party ordered oysters steamed and fried, 2 lbs crab legs with 2 sides, chicken tenders for a kid, baked potatoes and a salad. Everything was fantastic. We were shocked at the amount and quality of the crab leg for $40 (special). They were good size and cooked well. Chicken tenders appeared to be hand battered in house and were really good. Most places just have the frozen in a bag kind. Waiter was fantastic and food was correct when it came out of the kitchen which is a huge deal for a larger party of people.
At the same time as we were having a great experience the people beside of us were giving the waitress a hard time (my teenage daughter who even has an attitude said she felt sorry for the waitress) and sent food back a couple times while loudly voicing opinions that no one else dining cared about. Some people are just hard to please and are going to leave a bad review. All in all I will for sure eat here again. We walked right in and were seated quickly, food was hot and fresh, everything was clean and the staff were great. Is this a white table cloth sit down fancy restaurant? Nope. But for a Tuesday night birthday dinner with kids who wanted to snap some crab legs and have a good time this is the spot. And as for the rude customers beside us, may you see this post and reconsider how you treat others who choose to serve others for work. Kindness goes a long way.
Mr. Fish used to be one of our go-to restaurants when in the area. But it had been a number of years since our last visit. So we decided to change that and I am so glad that we did. We arrived a few minutes after 8pm on a Saturday night. Although a chalkboard sign by the door said they were closing at 8, they assured us they were still open. We were promptly seated.
Our waitress Michelle was phenomenal the entire night. She was extremely friendly and attentive. She never made us feel rushed despite us being one of her last few tables. She went over and above to make sure that we had absolutely everything we even thought we needed. She also worked with us to accommodate our son's gluten-free allergy.
All of our food was very good. The complimentary bite-sozed hush puppies were addictively yummy. I ordered the fried oyster po-boy with fries. My son for the blackened corvina fish sandwich on gluten-free bread with fries and the cucumber- tomato salad. My daughter had the kids' fried flounder with fries. My husband got the fried lobster special for $30 which was an insane deal!!
Overall it was a great experience. I'm glad to see this small business is still thriving after so many years!
Two words: amazingly AWESOME!!! Food was scrumptious, plentiful portions, and the service was equally awesome! Bonus: got my seafood and sushi fix in one shot! And worth every penny! We will definitely be back the next time we come to the beach. If you've never been there, do yourself a favor and give them a try.
Loved it! Waited to be seated for only 5 minutes or so. Comparing to other seafood places in the area they also have sushi! I had crunchy salmon sushi, ahi bowl, my husband had seafood. Everything was super fresh and delicious. The waiter Lisa was very helpful, she appeared right when we needed her. Definitely recommend.
