11/19/2017 I have visited Burt's Place several times since it reopened earlier this year, most recently about a week ago. Having lived in the area my entire life, I have tried many deep dish and stuffed pizzas, but I can say without a doubt that this is the best pizza I have ever had! All components of the pizza compliment each other, from the light, sourdough crust, to a reasonable amount of sauce and toppings, to the famous caramelized cheese outer crust. As others have mentioned, the crust is similar to focaccia bread, and is as good as the toppings and the sauce! Speaking of toppings, the sausage is far and away the best I have ever had, with a great blend of spices that are not overwhelming. Other toppings that work well are mushrooms and spinach (the spinach is better than what is offered at the big chain pizza place less than a mile away). Most importantly, the pizza is not overrun by toppings and cheese like the pizza at the aforementioned chain place. If you want a perfectly balanced pizza, this is the place to go! Finally, the restaurant itself is clean, and the owners and staff are all very nice and go out of their way to make sure the customers are accommodated well. I also love the new outdoor patio where I sat at during a late August visit. I highly recommend Burt's Place and will definitely continue to visit for the great pizza

A dear friend recommend us going here from what he saw on TV. We came from Virginia and have tried the other popular deep dish. Very quaint atmosphere. Now I know why this place is so packed, not only because it is small but the food is definitely worth every bite. Loved the staff and will definitely go here for a true Chicago Deep Dish ...yummy

Met Jerry last night. What a great guy! He and his staff have mastered the "Burt" recipe! Now, the beer garden is a great added feature. This is my top of list pizza pick without a doubt!

The location is a bit weird, but still easy to find. Interior is old and perhaps needs a bit of an overwhole. But the pizza is amazing. Something between deep dish and thin crust, made in a pan and served right the way in that same pan. We finished it all! All 4 if us: my 10 yo son and my 82 yo dad loved the pizza! Delicious!

Excellent service. Cozy, old school setting. Best pizza I’ve had since moving from NY. I can’t say how it compares to the original Burt’s because this was my first time there. I had the cheese pizza, my husband had sausage and olives. Both were fantastic. Very crisp edges with a chewy crust, the sauce is perfect and the cheese is unparalleled. It’s excellent quality and you can absolutely taste the difference. We went to Pequod’s last year thinking it was Burt’s — and it is absolutely completely different. The crust at Pequod’s was foamy and wrong. Burt’s is literally almost perfect— the pie itself is dense and cheesy and the bottom is just crisp enough (I would argue it could be a touch crisper, more brown without being burnt, and I would be over the moon). The owner is a lovely, friendly guy who was happy to chat with us, our waitress was more than accommodating and I wish we lived closer and could make a trip over for supper more often. Thank you for having us!

This place is top notch. Burt's booth is the best seat in the house. Mandatory stop from now on when I'm up that way.

This was on our restaurant bucket list for a long time. Tried to go over the summer and couldn't get a seat. New owners are super nice and the service was awesome. The pizza is delicious and the caramelized crust is to die for! They have done a great job carrying on Burt's legacy!

Great outdoor dining experience. Pizza as great as the first time we had it. Nice selection of draft and bottled beer.

Burt has not lost his touch...even after passing on this restaurant to the people bestowed such honor. I have never been to this place before a few days ago. But for what it holds true..the pizza was amazing and the atmosphere was perfect. We came in on a Wednesday...middle of the week and sat inside on a afternoon that beckoned the outdoors. We got a mostly empty room while the outside remained busy ...and we felt comfortable at Burt's place to hang out in a booth an a quiet atmosphere. The service was fine for how over worked staff can be...so got served adequately knowing she was taking care of the patio too for the whole place. The pizza was reasonably priced at around 20 dollars for a medium one topping.... While so many places can up it to 25-28 dollars for a medium one topping pizza (pan or deep dish) The two of us ate half the pizza and had the other half for left overs. That is a 20 dollar pizza for two meals for two people. I'm happy with the purchase. The atmosphere inside was awesome with eclectic and old timey stuff strapped to the wall. Enjoy a night out here and get some old school Chicago style service in a quaint but mighty place. P.S. I think Burt is still running around back there....if I only knew....

I was going on a date and naturally was going to do Pequod's in Morton Grove. To my disappointment, they were booked and as I was searching for another pizza joint, I was pleasantly surprised that Burt's Place is still open, five years after Burt's death. I hopped on it right away and it's great to see that they have kept most of the nostalgia that Burt left behind and improved the amenities (indoor heated patio, bar, additional beer and wine choices, online ordering and rsvp option). Burt's Pizza is legendary in Chicago folklore (check out Anthony Bourdain's feature). I got the 12 in pan pizza with sausage, mushroom, and spinach. The pizza came out crisp and their specialty crust is as good as advertised. The service was very friendly. My date enjoyed his pizza as well. Will go back there again and definitely rsvp ahead of time as they only open during the evenings and it is still a small place even with the patio expansion.

Some excellent pan made pizza at some really competitive prices that beat many other pizza joints around. Pizza comes out hot, in the Iron skillet it was cooked in. Perfect amount of ingredients ratio to the crust. Crust was perfect. Definitely wanna come back & get some pictures. There is a small bar with a good variety of beers that one can get. It's a small bar on the outside patio with a TV playing sports games. Maybe around 6-8 chairs so the place isn't focused on being a bar. They are focused on making great pizzas for their customers. Wanna come back with my family to get this pizza again.

Might be the best pizza I've ever had. They had good service and a nice covered patio area as well. Definitely will be back soon.

This place is a slice of Chicagoland pizza history! After Burt's passing, the new owners have done a great job in keeping his legacy going. The pizza is great - but best served fresh - in house. If it is your first time, I would not recommend it for take out, as it is not as great as enjoying it at the restaurant. They have a great outdoor patio!
