Been coming here since I was in junior high and even though I no longer live in La Crescenta, my family and I return every other weekend for Saturday brunch. We sometimes even come Sunday evenings for dinner! They serve great-tasting food, consistently and with lots of love, and they feel like a part of the family, especially with the lovely employees they have on board. And ultimately, I can confidently say that even with LA's brunch scene nearby popping up with new "hip" restaurants on what seems like a monthly basis, Black Cow will always be my favorite spot to eat good food, catch up with family/friends, people/dog-watch, and let time pass by as I enjoy myself.

This place screams of good food and family! The holiday menu was amazing and the service (despite a very busy, packed restaurant) was right on point!

The food is excellent, but what sets this place apart, and keeps us coming back, is the wonderful staff. So warm, friendly and attentive - you feel truly welcome from the moment you enter. I deal with social anxiety, so this means the world to me and makes it possible to enjoy every sip and bite of their delicious fare. Also a great "neighborhood" with many fun, independently owned businesses along the street, including an amazing Rockwellian toy store (Tom's Toys) that is not to be missed.

I guess people are raving about their usual specialties, but I want to specially mention their onion rings, chicken tenders, and fries. I admit I have never tasted anything like these; the best I've ever had!

Server Jessica was very attentive. Food out of this world and beware of the hot plates as they warn you (my ADD reminded me they're hot😂). Side note: "Black Cow" is my Fav Steely Dan tune.

I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor profile of my crispy chicken sandwich. The sauce and cheese combo had an Alfredo Pasta thing going on. It threw me for a loop at first but it worked really well. Very zingy cheese. Good portions. I also snagged a fry from my partner and it was 👌. The bread was a tough chew but the taste was splendid. Buttery as hell. The vibe inside was super cozy too. Felt like I was back home in Ohio for a moment. Would recommend to anyone who's in the area!

We really enjoyed our brunch at the black cow. We showed up early and we’re seated right away. The place was busy but service was great and food came out fast. I can see why this place is so popular and loved by the locals. Both the breakfast burrito and Benedict were great and we washed them down some mimosas. We will definitely be back for brunch to try some of their other specials !

This gem, situated on what could be any small town american street, is consistently delicious. They serve comfort food with subtle twists that make each dish more interesting than the original fare. The service is pleasant and the ambiance is homey. Definitely worth coming to the black cow. I had the Southern Baked Skillet Breakfast ($12.95), which is poached eggs, bacon and tomato over homemade corn pudding. Baked with a sizzling creamy cheddar cheese sauce. Served with jalapeno cheddar biscuits. The eggs are poached perfectly, and the combination of corn pudding, sauce, bacon, eggs and tomato are perfection. The tomato really brings an acidity and freshness that just makes the dish! Also, the coffee is pretty darn good!

The food was very good and the service was excellent. I had the Kobe Beef Burger Dip with the House Salad. Very nice Vinegret on the salad. The baguette was fresh, meat tasty, and the Aju was perfect for dipping.

Definitely a staple restaurant in Montrose. Always enjoy the food here. It does get busy on the weekends for breakfast/brunch, be prepared for a wait if you’re dining during those hours. Family friendly and the staff is great. The menu has something for everyone, including a kid’s menu.

My wife and I came here after visiting Descanso Gardens. The wait was quite short - fifteen minutes. We sat outside and enjoyed the foot traffic - e.g. people watching. Server took our order and our food was brought out quickly. Food was very good- I had the Brie and Apple grill cheese sandwich. My wife had some breakfast burrito. Coffee was hot - I despise cold coffee. Only downside side is parking.

Black Cow has been here since forever and the quality is always awesome. Came here with a friend not too long ago and ordered one of the breakfast specials. Good price and tasty food. Spectacular service, with servers working hard at work to get you food quickly. One of the best restaurants in the area and a must try if you are in the area.
