I’m from LA - the food Mecca of the nation and I’ve tried almost every breakfast spot there… I gotta say, Old Monterey Café is quite possibly the best breakfast food I’ve had in my life. Words cant do it justice, just go and try it yourself. Anything you order will be top notch. Expect a line though, any place worth eating should always have a wait. 10/10 food quality and 10/10 fast, friendly service.

This breakfast spot is fantastic! The staff was incredibly friendly and efficient, and the food was delicious. I tried the avocado turkey eggs Benedict, while my wife enjoyed the banana pancakes, and our son loved the kids menu French toast. No complaints – everything was superb. The cozy atmosphere of the place just added to the overall experience. If you're ever in Monterey and craving a delightful breakfast, I highly recommend checking out this gem.

I’ve been here 2/2 days for breakfast on my trip to Monterey and everything was phenomenal. Menu has something for everyone. Despite there being only 2 servers this morning and every single table in the house full, they both managed to quickly bring everyone their coffee/breakfast, and everything was wonderful in quality. Best service I’ve seen in a long time. Amazing quality breakfast food. Highly recommend.

We went for breakfast and the place was nice and airy. The staff was very attentive and the food was good. I had been traveling for a bit and they had some of the best french toast I had in days. They were light and fresh, just the way I like them.

We came for breakfast in early morning. The shop opened on time and ready to serve us. Our order took 10-15 min while waiting we had very fresh good coffee. Our food was so hood and very big dish. We finished it all. Staffs were nice and friendly. Recommend to come a bit early morning…

It's a cute cafe without wifi, but with delicious breakfast. Check out the waffles I got. Prices are higher than I expected but it's Monterey. You'll like it, trust me.

Enjoyed breakfast here on Christmas morning. The staff was friendly and the food was hearty…good sized portions and reasonable prices. They have the best home fried potatoes.

Sunday breakfast. Last meal before heading back to SF. I got the steak and eggs, while my boyfriend got the Portlander omelet. We also shared a waffle with strawberries. I was happy with my meal. They cooked it how I wanted it: eggs over medium and medium steak. My boyfriend said nothing was seasoned properly, but I assumed they do that so their guests can season the food how they want since they leave salt and pepper on the table. We still ended up enjoying our food. Really good portion. One thing I suggest improving, though, is the coffee. Too diluted. But other than that, no complaints.

One of the best breakfasts we had during our time in california. The place was packed for good reasons and we had to wait a couple of minutes. We decided to sit outside to avoid a longer waiting time. The weather was fine so it was a good choice. We had eggs florentine, bacon and eggs and strawberry french toast. Everything was very good.
