Review Icehouse - Minneapolis

Kori Mack
My partner and I had a phenomenal experience here, the food was great and the music was lovely. Our server Lizzie was so attentive and kind. Ice House is truly a breath of fresh air, a good place to have a much needed date night. The bartender as well was super polite and asked if we needed anything and cleared plates off of our table. Thank you all for truly giving us such a nice evening, we’ll definitely be back! :)

I’ve always loved Icehouse, but the reason I am writing this review is we had our wedding there! Literally could not think of a better place. First it was so great to work with the owner Brian and the event planner Joel, both were awesome. The space is amazing and the acoustics with a live band are awesome! The food was super great (which if we are being honest is definitely not the case at all weddings). Overall the price was reasonable for hosting 150 people and we really could not be more happy about it all! I also just love going there as it is a great restaurant and music venue! If you’re looking to do a big event, consider Icehouse! Or if you’re just looking for some good food on Eat Street, consider Icehouse!

My band played here last week. It was one of our favorite venues on our tour. Amazing food, amazing service, and great atmosphere. Their spin on the BLT with the fried green tomato on it, is the best BLT I’ve ever had! Cocktails and other food was on point as well. Great place to grab dinner and catch some music.

A little overpriced for me but they did have vegan options which made me happy. The vegan sweet potato pancake was very different than anything I’ve ever had before! There was a rock show going on so that was fun to listen to while I ate too.

Met some longtime friends and one recommended the Icehouse! Everything from the staff, food, ambiance was amazing! We chose to sit indoors but the outdoor patio looked super welcoming! Loved the Icehouse burger, and the food my friends had looked delicious too! We'll be back, for sure!!!

The veggie burger was incredible, the best thing I tried. The cauliflower wings were good, the scallops were cooked well, chicken wraps felt as if they were missing something (maybe a sauce), and the fries were okay. The environment is warm and comfortable with dim lighting dim, but service was spotty. There was music was in the other room, which was a fun addition to the night.

Brunch food was delicious and such a fun atmosphere to be a part of. Such a joy to listen to live music while we relaxed in an eclectic and historical environment. Server was so fun, bright, and helpful. A great addition to our anniversary trip! We shared fries with truffle oil, strawberry French toast monte cristo, and a breakfast sandwich. Hash browns were super good!!

Went there to see band on Friday, got there early so we sat in dining area for food first. Excellent wait and bar staff! They were all super friendly and fast. Good food, good drinks and great place for live music.

We just had our wedding reception at Icehouse and it was perfect! The food and service was great, AV and lighting was amazing, and having the balcony for people to hang out and watch the dance floor was super fun!

Such a great venue for live music! I discovered two new musicians that I loved. And the food was high quality, good portions and delicious!

We are from out of town. Came here by just looking on Open Table for reservations. We had no expectations. But the cheese curd appetizer is really good. Then we shared the burrito (it is HUGE) our server recommended and it did not disappoint. Make sure to share this or be prepared to take left overs but well worth it.

We happened to go for dinner when there was a jazz duo playing on stage. They were just the right volume for us to enjoy their music as well as our friends who we dined with that night. Service was prompt, the menu was very nice. The wait staff was very excited to tell us about the food we ordered when it came. The homemade root beer was a nice treat as well! Two of our guests were vegetarians, and they seemed content with their dinners as well. Overall a very nice outing. The $40 three course (for each of us) went well for my wife and i.

I really like this venue. We were here late for a show. It seemed a little unorganized but I think it’s because they have to clear the restaurant folks out and move tables. The show was high quality. We did not eat but I’ve heard good things about brunch and will be back. I’ll definitely be back during patio season, as I saw a side area for tables outside.

What a cool place. The cheese curds. The live band. The food. The drinks. Everything's great.

This was our first time going here. We had brunch and watched a small, live jazz band! The food is southern inspired and delicious! The outdoor patio was comfortable and inviting! If you get the chance, do NOT pass this place without stopping in!

Excellent menu with his service in a well-set environment. The food is excellent and beautiful arranged. There are many seating options. There's bar seating, seating around a stage, dining room seating, and even outdoor seating. There are often bands that perform here. Parking can be difficult to find, especially since this is on Nicolett.

I really like Icehouse and enjoy the way they continue to surprise with outstanding musical acts like John Medeski of Medeski, Martin, & Wood & JT Bates' terrific jazz trios. Their food is good and sightlines work. With only 1 bar, drinks can take a bit of time but with an aggressive beer list, it's worth the wait.

One of my favorite music venues. Great sounding room. Excellent food and drinks. Friendly servers. We are regular Icehouse brunchers. I'm hooked on the brisket hash. The weekend morning live music is always excellent. Love this place!

Last Friday, my wife and close friends had reservations for 7:15 at Icehouse. I was excited to return to Icehouse with our friends, given my first time there was positive. Last Friday at Icehouse, the food was as satisfying; the entrees, the appetizers and our drinks were solid. Our rapport with our server was fun too. She was knowledgeable, timely and effectively monitored the needs of the table. I loved the Chicago connection we shared with her. As we finished our dinner a band was beginning to set up for the evening session. At that point we asked for our check and decided to have a drink and listen to a song or two before heading home. By parent standards it was getting late and only one more drink was necessary. Given the chance to listen to music I otherwise know little about this was a fortunate opportunity. Not to mention, if they’re a talented band I’d likely seek them out and advertise them to friends. After the group told me their order, I proceeded to the bar. When I ordered the 3 drinks the bartender asked to see my wrist band. I told her I did not have one. She then said if we wanted more drinks our party would need to go outside wait in line to pay a cover. Now I was confused, given the substantial amount of money we spent on our dinner not to mention our positive experience. I was curious why Icehouse was willing to lose out on a $30 bar tab and the chance to earn new listeners to the band. After I tried to walk the bartender through the misguided policy we talked with a manager and he only could tell us this was their policy. Again this was unfortunate; the manager had the opportunity to correct the situation but refused. Furthermore the policy, was not communicated to us when we sat down nor at any point since our dinner. I am sympathetic why bars and restaurants have policies related to cover charges for music, and am sensitive to taking up “real estate” after we finished our meal. And from a customer experience point of view, it seems like providing no other option other than directing us outside to stand in line (such as asking if we could keep it to 30 minutes or something) was a missed opportunity. Statistics show that the cost of acquiring a new customer costs more than retaining an existing one; and repeat customers spend, on average more money. In the future, I suggest Icehouse work with their dinner customers to maintain a positive experience, as well as those coming to listen to the band. A both-and policy.

Had Sunday brunch. food was delicious. service was great. everyone we encountered were kind and welcoming. music was nice. a bit spendy. but that is the least of concerns when I have the chance to hang out with my busy daughter. and icehouse gave us a great experience.

The 10 course meal is definitely a party in your mouth. We absolutely loved the total experience, the awesome food and the fabulous presentation! Highly recommend and will return the next time we are in Minneapolis. The owner and chef also visited with us to make sure we were well satisfied. 👌

Always fantastic music, great food and attentive service. The leadership at Icehouse has clearly embedded standards of highest expectations into the culture. We go here often and have always found another fun surprise in food, music or refreshments that keeps affirming our love for this place.

Went there for brunch and the food was amazing and service was great! Plus live music. We went again for late night happy hour and were very impressed. Our new favorite place!

Love this place. Great food, great drinks, great staff/service, and it's a great place to see live music. I've also had the pleasure of performing there several times, and the sound guy always does a great job, and is super friendly. You can really tell he genuinely cares about making you sound good, and that is tough to come by in the music biz.

We love Icehouse! Superb food, fantastic staff and great live music. Highly recommend coming in here!

This was our second time here. I liked it better this time. The first time I must have mis-ordered, my food was really greasy (I had a breakfast sandwich). This time, I had the Veggie Benedict and it was amazing. We also sat in the backroom near the big open windows and I liked that better. We'll go back again.

Had a gift card to use. The menu is certainly different but our waitress guided us well! Brisket. Duck confit. Pork. Drinks are very good too. Dessert was just ok! Pricey for sure but worth it. The live music was a great mood setter.

Very bad experience!!! My friends and me went to see a band and we want to eat and have some drinks , but because we didn't have reservation they didn't let us go inside because they say "door open at 10pm" it was 9:30pm , so we wait until 10pm , we asked to go inside and they said 10:30pm. It was cold and kind of raining/snowing outside . A lot of people didn't want to keep waiting and left. Finally went inside and there wasn't room for dancing. There are a better venues that play alive music and have a much better service that Ice house. We won't back again

A creative and interesting menu plus reasonable quality cocktails and always some worthwhile music to enjoy.
