Mike, the owner, has crafted something unusual and amazing here. I have been to this fantastic restaurant twice now.
I can't say enough about the place.
I jokingly told my date last night that I was taking her to a horse stable and wouldn't know where we were eating. I technically didn't lie; it was a stable like 100 years ago.
The staff is so well trained and its just a fantastic experience. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion. For a first date or a 40th anniversary.
I don't speak English as well as some people; I wish I could eloquently describe the full and amazing flavors of the food and the cocktails. It's so good

OH MY GOD. THE FOOD HERE IS PERFECT.
I came here for my birthday and it was absolutely stunning. We enjoyed every dish we ordered. The Chef apparently changes the menu constantly which is fun and surprising each time. Every little thing on that plate had a special unique flavor. You must try it! Check out the photos I posted from that night. Also the furniture is very unique, apparently the chairs are from a bishop. Love the story. Authentic. Beautiful. Cant wait to try it again asap!

Date night was fantastic here. Very attentive server and fantastic staff all around. I recommend the drink that's named Afternoon With Hemmingway. The duck was fantastic and my partners steak was perfect.

The food is amazing! So many delicious flavors and combinations there are no words to describe it. I had the duck which was very tender and nicely seared. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone willing to treat their tastebuds to fabulous food.

The owner was so kind and really made me feel like a special customer. The environment is warm and cozy, but classy. The marrow was wonderful with the garlic and thyme. The fillet was so tender I barely had to chew.

Quaint and cozy atmosphere with outstanding service. The wait staff was professional, courteous and friendly. And, above all, the food was delicious. I had blackened sea trout that was perfectly seared over a flavorful bread pudding. Pread pudding is not normally high on my priority list at restaurants, but the overall dish was memorable. My wife had bone marrow and salad, both looked well presented. We are already planning on coming back with friends and family. I recommend this nook of a restaurant.

In a sea of breweries and pubs, sanctuary lives up to its namesake and does not disappoint. The atmosphere is cozy, the staff is friendly, and the food is delicious. The tasting menu at $35 is the best deal around.

We arrived about 10 pm... and OMG! Amazing service... Waitstaff social and was very welcoming. The drinks were great, food amazing! The bartender Alex was also very nice! Will totally be back!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and we were very satisfied with the food, ambiance, and service. Being as this was our first foray into the gourmet scene, we did not know what to expect. We were welcomed and our served was able to answer our every question about the menu. We ended up ordering the Chef's whim 5-course dinner with wine and cocktail pairings. We couldn't be happier with our order: the flavors were spectacular and quantities well balanced. We will definitely be returning.

Absolutely amazing! We were lucky enough to go on a night the Chef's Whim was offered, and if it's in your price range and comfort level, do go for it! We had a fantastic evening as every course was beautifully served, delicious, and our waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. It was great to be surprised with another new, but fantastic, dish. The other menu options are just as good (knowing from a later experience).
Yes, it is higher priced, but you are also having higher quality food and atmosphere. Well worth it!

We took my daughter for her 13th birthday and went to see a play at the Guthrie afterwards. The theater is just a block away, allowing us to park next to the restaurant and just walk to the theater.
The staff was very professional and friendly. The ambience is pleasant with modern art work on the walls. The cocktail my wife had was lovely. The appetizers were good. Great care was taken in it's preparation. Although I didn't think the taste was particularly outstanding.
It did take a while for them to bring out the dinner creating a bit if a time crunch for us trying to make the theater on time. The braised pork shank was really well presented. The portion was generous and it was well flavored. I have had more tender versions but I was pleased with the meal. The table sharing sides were likewise lovely and was pleasant to eat. They were thoughtful enough to bring my daughter a full size dessert for the occasion which delighted her.
We did just make the curtain call and had a great evening. I would be happy to return again for a night of food and theater.

Everything about this restaurant is fantastic! I've been coming here for probably close to a decade, and it has always been a very positive experience. I highly recommend coming during the week when they have the inexpensive tasting menu. The cocktails are sublime, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and the food is truly amazing! I will never understand why I don't hear about this Restaurant in food media and publications, but this place is definitely worth trying.

We had a 5:30 reservation before a 7:30 play close by. The host was chatty and friendly. The waitress was helpful with food and wine selections. Great service and delicious food! They were very efficient and kind in cleaning up a spill I caused. We made it to our play with time to spare. The food seems a particularly good value considering the quality. I wish all my restaurant experiences were this good.

The food and ambiance was absolutely fantastic. Though the value was lacking for the price-to-portion ratio, the lobster soup, iceberg wedge salad and brownie sundae was very, very good. The brownie included salted caramel ice cream, whipped cream, caramel drizzle and an assortment of fresh berries. If you want great food and impeccable service I highly recommend at least trying this restaurant.

This restaurant handled everything well from the reservation to spot on service. Super cozy and just the right size. Our server (Chloe) was most knowledgeable and could accommodate our dining/food restrictions with her well versed menu knowledge. You could tell people like working there and that just adds to the dining experience. Honestly haven’t had that or felt good service/food combination for awhile and I will being returning to Sanctuary. Skol 🍷

Thoroughly enjoyable meal, in a space that lives up to its name. Our 5-course "chef's whim" tasting was delicious in each course. I ordered the wine pairing, my wife ordered one wine and sipped some of mine. Our server, the bartender, was delightful, and it is always pleasing to be welcomed by Michael at the door.

I wasn’t aware of this place and I have been living downtown for almost a year now. I had the Yellow Fin Tuna Appetizer, and (what I assume to be) their seasonal preparation of steak, that was on menu. My girlfriend had a vegetarian tasting menu. The tuna was incredible- simple in execution, but with delicately layered flavors. I ordered my steak medium, however it came medium-rare, (not one to complain much, so wasn’t a biggie. The tasting menu was of great value, beautiful, and exquisitely scrumptious; with the final plate being dessert- a brownie with cinnamon ice cream, topped with home made whipped cream, caramel, and fruit. Overall, a nice place to go for a date night or special occasion.
