Review Smack Shack - Minneapolis

If you want quality seafood with chill vibes, this is the place. The staff is great and the food is phenomenal. There's a bar area so you can hang with friends or you can sit and relax in the restaurant section. They let the food be the star of the show. We had the crab cakes and the Rhode Island lobster roll. The key lime pie was also savory.

We had great service on the patio. The server was very friendly and knowledgeable about many things in the area and was able to explain the differences in the food options very clearly. The food came out very fast considering how busy they were at the time. Everything was quite excellent. We will definitely be back.

If you want seafood, especially a lobster roll, this place is it. Super-fresh and just really good food. The patio was great and service did not disappoint.

I recently visited Minneapolis for a few days and this was a highlight of the trip. The waiter and rest of staff were so nice and took the time to answer all of our questions. Which was great because we ordered a lot and ate oysters, lobster, salmon, and more. I only remember to take a pic of my stuffed salmon but it was delicious. Some of the best seafood I've had in a while. I highly recommend going

I love it here! Came in for restaurant week ended up enjoying happy hour. We got there 10 minutes before happy hour and our server suggested we wait it out. So happy she did, we were able to try a number things. The shrimp and fry basket was not only a great value but it was delicious!! I came in to try out the poke lettuce wraps and boy oh boy did they make my taste buds dance!!! We also had the chips with lobster guacamole, crab cake slider and shrimp avocado toast. Everyone was amazing!! The bathroom is clean enough where you don't need to hold it!!

Food and atmosphere were very good. The desert was a 5 (on a 10 scale) but if the cookie had been warm.and soft - not cold and crunchy - would have been an 11!

Great place for lunch during work. The food is mouthwatering delicious and the service is fast and friendly. The cold lobster roll is packed full of huge chunks of tender, juicy lobster that is stuffed in a pillowy soft buttered grilled roll. Smack Shack also has some of the best fries in town. I highly recommend trying Smack Shack if you’re traveling to Minneapolis and looking for some good eats!

(Last visited 11/28/2022.) In town on business and it's dinnertime! I hopped on the Yelp app and did some poking around looking for something good, something different. "Smack Shack" intrigued me with its name so here's where I ended up on this Monday evening. Here's how it went... Atmosphere/Appearance: The word "shack" will certainly throw you off. It's not small in here at all. Granted, the building doesn't exactly fit in with the rest of the taller ones around it, but it has its own character. It looks like a one-story brick "barn" of sorts. It's very elongated with a raised platform for it's large outdoor seating section. Once inside you're greeted by a very open floor plan with high ceilings, red/white checkered tablecloths, yet some modern amenities and brick walls. In the middle of the room you have several tanks containing live lobsters and a big bar rail off to the side. Service: I sat at the bar and service was great. I didn't have to worry about anything. The bartender was friendly, kind, made great conversation and made sure that I had everything I needed! Food: They offer the infamous seafood boil here, but I wanted to get something I don't usually get at restaurants so I opted for the Stuffed Salmon. It is described as salmon filled with shrimp and lobster, then served alongside Minnesota wild rice, pistachios, asparagus, golden raisins and drizzled with a lemon beurre blanc. It was DELIGHTFUL. It was a good portion, buttery, smooth, tender salmon cooked a little more than I prefer, but I wasn’t offered a choice of cooking temperature. The medley was crunchy, savory, warm, comforting and an excellent complement. The lemon butter blanc was FANTASTIC. It reminded me of a hollandaise sauce, but not as thick and lighter. It was very well balanced. This place also had a wide variety of on-tap craft beers as well in which I indulged in. Value: $33.95 for my salmon back then and about $7.00 per beer. It's a seafood spot so just use common sense when coming here. It's not going to be cheap. In conclusion, I really enjoyed myself here and can 100% see a return visit in my future!

The service was decent here. The waiter assigned to my table was a bit... He seemed bothered to be working as if he didn't want to be there. The lady that served the food was friendly and sweet. The lady at the end that helped my partner and I was incredibly lovely as well. The food was delicious. Wonderful flavours. A bit cold though I didn't mind because I had wonderful company. My beverage was okay... I expected it to be sweeter though that's alright. All around it was a good time. Parking was dreadful though.

Went there for lunch. Not a huge seafood person but had the shrimp tacos off the lunch special menu. Good flavor but shrimp was a little too large for the taco. Traded with a lunch mate for a lamb birria taco. More flavor and toppings fit into the taco. Great service and great atmosphere

Well it's definitely awesome to have this place in my neighborhood!! The food is always good. We had an "off-menu" item that was discontinued, but the chef was happy to allow it. The lobster Lucy was one of the best burgers I've had. The combination of beef and lobster married together with aoli and cheese!! Yes please 😊

The food and atmosphere were absolutely fantastic! We found this place while on vacation and it’s enough to bring us back to the city again to keep trying more of the menu! I highly recommend the bisque and of course the lobster roll is a can’t miss! We were also wowed by their smack wings which may be some of the best wings we’ve ever had, we were super impressed by the quantity of all the food and drinks, while it was a little pricey I’d say it was completely worth it!

Friendly waiter - (bald guy cant remember his name) Food was decent, ordered calamari - more pickles and extras than calamari. Jambalaya was filling, great portion but flavour was a bit bland. Otherwise a nice seafood spot.

I was recommended this place and I am so glad that I went before I left for home the next day. The service was amazing and the food, hands down, was the best I had eaten in Minneapolis! I got the salmon over wild rice and veggies with pomegranates and I got as an appetizer, the crab cakes and they were so delectable! 😋 There were many other things I wanted to try on the menu as well so hopefully I'll get to go back there one day!

Place was awesome! Tons of fun, great food, music and gambling options. We were in the area for 4 days and went there 2x. Michelle at the bar was great!

They have plenty of seating outside. So if you don’t have a reservation, there’s a good chance the wait won’t be too long. We were promptly seated without a reservation. We got their crispy calamari to start. The calamari was fried great and it came with fried pickles too which helped balance out the heaviness of the calamari. We then got two orders of the crab benedict, a Cajun avocado toast and the Smack shack original. All the dishes tasted amazing but my favorite was the Cajun avocado toast. The shrimp was seasoned and cooked so well that I could easily have gotten another order of it. I’ll definitely visit again the next time I’m in Minneapolis!
