We picked up a few pounds of the Carnitas and the Barbacoa. While we waited, a mariachi singer entertained us. It was very cool. The carne from Don Lucho’s was part of my recovery from surgery. Unfortunately, I can’t stop comparing. On one of our trips to CDMX, we had terrific Carnitas at some market near the Zocolo. My taste buds hold onto that flavor, and Don Lucho’s wasn’t as good. However, I live in Milwaukee, not Mexico City, and Don Luchos was darn good. I enjoyed the meat immensely, and stuffing my face helped my convalescence.

Don Lucho is the real deal. Awesome tacos, about twice the size of normal MKE tacos. I ordered four tacos, two would have filled me up. They are only open Friday, Saturday, Sunday early morning until they sell out of meat. The carnitas were amazing, the carne asada was great. The tortillas are fresh and the salsas were great. They sell meat by the pound like a deli and tacos like a normal restaurant. We went at 11am and they sold out right after we got our food. Go early.

Really good carnitas we get to go, we don't dine in here although there are plenty of tables which have decent space to sit comfortably. The place is very clean. Very small menu options, and you seat yourself. It's not the type of restaurant experience I care for, it's a bustling place. Be prepared to tip your waitress, doorman, lot attendant, and the local performers that happen in from time to time.

I feel as if I was transported to Mexico every time we come. I love dinning in or taking to go. The flavor is like nowhere else. We have had a lot of dishes here but the soups and carnitas (which comes with all of the fixings to make tacos including hand made tortillas) are our favorites.

Excellent food and experience here. Best carnitas in Wisconsin for sure. Definitely worth the 25 minute drive for such great authentic Mexican food.

I can't brag enough about Don Lucho's! Fantastic, amazing, authentic Mexican cuisine. Carnitas are absolutely wonderful. Very tender pork, and steak. The best part of it all is they hand make the tortillas. Last time I was told it would be a 15 minute wait, because they were making tortillas! I would have waited an hour for those tortillas! This restaurant is a must have if you live or are visiting Milwaukee!

Don Lucho is an amazing breakfast place or late dinner for after partying all night. It opens at 4:00am and it gets sold out kind of early too. So try to plan ahead!
The best thing in their menu is the Carnitas tacos. The tortillas are Hand-made, which means is top quality. They have horchata and coffee available too.
Tacos are big! I hardly can finish two.

Went here for breakfast... The best tacos (carnitas) I've had! Loved the fresh tortillas! They were a good size and very filling. Had two and they were perfect. I also loved the outdoor seating space, and there was some music playing for an event which made it even more lively. Staff is very polite and friendly too. I'll definitely be back!

They have a very limited menu but the tacos were great. They were huge comparatively to others and cheap for all of what you received. I'd like to go back and just pick up a bunch of the different meats to go. Definitely worth checking out if you're ever in the area.
