Review Stone Bowl - Milwaukee

Scott Detweiler
It's a family favorite place to eat! Fantastic food! Some of the best Korean food I have had, even outside of the Milwaukee area.

Very good options and food. Service was fast on a weekday for lunch. Pork belly had generous shareable portion and spicy pork was also good with a hint of sweetness to it. Kimchi fries were okay. Cheese was not fully melted and meat+kimchi ratio was low. Might try a different appetizer next time. Atmosphere was relaxed with some Kpop playing in background. Would be a great place for more casual date or hanging out with friends/family.

Cozy atmosphere, nowhere near as loud or crowded as Rice n Roll and honestly much better for it. We had the bokum noodles and the fried veggie dumplings - the server said that they're better than the beef ones, and honestly they were incredible. Staff don't hover, keep the place nice and clean, and are helpful if you have questions. Great flavor, I'm looking forward to coming back in the future!

I have been here twice now and have enjoyed it. It is a nice and clean atmosphere, and the staff are nice. In fact, one of the waiters made a lot of funny jokes and really made their customers feel comfortable and chill while eating here. They also provide a handful of small dishes to go along with the food, and these seem to change each time. However, I will say the food is a bit pricey for the quality. I’ve been to a lot of spectacular Korean style restaurants and have had a lot of Bulgogi, and kind of feel Stone Bowl was more mid-level and didn’t have anything that made it stand out or even compare to some. The food was presented well, but I unfortunately have to admit that the flavors lack a little luster. I wish there was more of the typical sweet, savory and smoky flavors I’ve had elsewhere, but this Bulgogi is unfortunately a bit bland. I will gladly come back to try different dishes, but hope they are more flavorful.

I'd give 6 stars for our server if I could. I've come here twice and both times we had excellent service from Jai. He is knowledgeable, quick, and really good for a conversation when he has time 👏 My guy needs a raise & you guys have a new regular.

Get your tastebuds ready for a ride, especially if you're a fan of spice. Korean grill and more. Even though they treat you to 4 rotating sides. Be sure to start yourself out with an app the spicy sweet dumpling was our choice. Entrees and options we wide we went with the traditional bibimbop and the spicy Ramon seafood. The bowls came steaming hot which was perfect on a chilly night. The cooktop on the table went unused which sets up to make a return appearance to tackle the BBQ and a variety of Korean beers and specialty drinks next time.

Probably the best and the most authentic Korean food in Milwaukee so far. The Scallion Pancake with mixed seafood is worth a try! Dukboki (the rice cake) there is one on of the best Dukboki even compared to what I had when I travel to South Korea. Spicy Chicken: spicy and thick, the flavor was superb! most of the dishes are suitable for sharing the vibe the service were also amazing! Highly recommend!

Stone Bowl in Milwaukee is amazing. Visiting Milwaukee and not stopping here would be a crime! The service here is very good, they are quick to greet and sit you and give you the perfect amount of time to order. The food here I second to none, you can tell they take great pride in their dishes. I like how they don’t Americanize the dishes and they have a great amount of spice. I have added some pictures below of some great dishes. The only downfall is parking is kind of a pain, but that’s not really their fault.

Like always the food was delicious. Spicy Ramen is mix of spicy and boiling hot that just warm the soul. One of my favorite dishes. Their sides are so flavorful that you just want to keep eating even after you’re full.

The service is fast and efficient, ensuring a smooth dining experience. I particularly enjoy having conversations with V, who is knowledgeable and passionate about the food. Stone Bowl Grill is a must-visit for delicious food, prompt service, and friendly interactions. Highly recommended!

Our favorite was spicy-sweet dumpling, loved the sauce. The beef bibimbap was tasty. Their service was so fast, 5 minutes after we ordered we had our food. Save some room for Korean tea at the end, we got the citrus flavor and we loved it. Definitely give it a try

Ordered Kimchee jigae and it was not Kimchee jigae. There was barely any Kimchee, no pork, the jigae was super thick for some reason, had noodles inside the jigae (it didn't say anything about noodles in the jigae on the menu) and the whole dish tasted bitter burnt. Sadly I could not eat the dish (was not edible) but still had to pay for it even though I talked to the waiter / cook about it.

My boyfriend and I love going to Stone Bowl! The service is excellent, although it does get crowded some nights, or sometimes after lunch they are a few servers short which means waiting a bit longer than normal. That hasn't stopped us from having great customer service each time we are there. The food is always so good! We like ordering the Dak, which is a large portion at a reasonable price. I recommend Stone Bowl to anyone looking for a relaxed restaurant with a great date night ambiance.

Good food, nice service. My favorite place to eat. I just wish the ramen bowls didn't come out boiling hot. I've got to wait for it to cool down before eating and by that time my boyfriend finishes half his meal. Still worth it though, spicy ramen is so good.

This was a very strange eating experience. First, the credit card machine was broken so we needed to get money from an ATM. Then I ordered the kimchi chigae and the waitress told me most people don't like it because it doesn't taste like traditional kimchi. I ordered it anyway as that is typically the food I eat at Korean restaurants. She was right, it was different. The portions were small. The machine to make one of the meats was also broken, so we couldn't order that. Then we had the 18% gratuity added to our party of four (there were five people, but my daughter didn't eat or drink). Overall, most of the food tasted good, but I would not return. It felt like more of a bother than a pleasure to eat here.

Soon Dubu with silken tofu was delicious, my friend had the bibimbap with beef & she said that was delicious. We had a bottle of Raspberry Sake & Lucky Buddha.. waitress was knowledgeable on the menu items & very friendly.. overall a very pleasant experience. Will definitely be back

It was pretty good My waiter was on point & friendly. Got a nice friendly good bye & thank you from another staff member whole I was leaving which I appreciate! My favorite was the dukboki! I know I'll be Back soon haha. The only thing I didn't really like were the fruit flies & how the tables & chairs were muggy and sticky feeling.

This will be my last time at Stone Bowl... EVER. This is what they served me as the sirloin... and then I asked for a new steak to replace this portion... the "chef" nor the "mgr" came to our table to even look at it... or talk to us. They sent the poor server back to let us know that we would have to order a new meal, and pay for it. It's still sitting as we are paying the bill. FML, I see another restaurant in Milwaukee closing soon. And this sucks, because I use to love this place, which has just lost a customer with a big mouth! #AbsolutelyDisgusting (I wish I could upload the pic here... search #StoneBowlMke. I'm making that post public! This review is copy copied and pasted from my page)

My family and I have enjoyed coming to this restaurant many times. We have enjoyed the food and the wait staff, who have almost always been very pleasant. The last two times we have been disappointed. The manager have been less than accommodating with seating my family of 5. They didn't appear to want our business. We were also very disappointed that they did not have the fish cakes either time. The last time the waitress said they ran out. Tonight they just weren't serving it. The food was good tonight and the waitress was very nice. The reason for the one star rating is a result of the extremely rude manager. When we received the bill, we were told that an 18% gratuity was already added. We asked for it to be taken off. I was appalled that it was automatically added for a party of 5, 3 of which were children ranging from 8-13. I have NEVER been charged gratuity for a family before. The definition of gratuity is "1. a gift of money, over and above payment due for service, as to a waiter or bellhop; tip. 2. something given without claim or demand." When the manager came over to tell us that it is the house policy, we demanded that it be taken off. He said he would, but we are not welcome to come again. Are you serious? Our average bill is around $100 and we add 20-25% tip. We wanted the tip removed so that we could put a tip we thought was appropriate and instead were told not to return. Guaranteed we will take our business elsewhere-one that appreciates their customers! We came tonight to celebrate an occasion and the manager ruined the night for me.

While we have eaten at Stone Bowl many times and loved the food. Tonight we went expecting to be seated quickly in one of many soon to be cleaned tables, we were shunned away by the manager, finally telling us at least a half hour wait! Even as we pointed out the available seating, maybe he doesn't think cute babies are good for business
